The silence was choking around him, he liked it. Draven traveled slowly through the thinly placed trees of the forest. Armored ears twitched at the sides of his head as deep blue eyes peered from shadowed sockets. There was nothing about, that he could tell anyways, black and white tipped wings wings ruffled at his sides. The two sets resting somewhat awkwardly at his shoulders the joints over lapping themselves. Rustling about his legs, a strange dark blue cloth, a tapestry it seemed. One that was well traveled as the ends were tattered and worn thin. The strange white and faintly scarred stallion stopped where he could see the sky clearly.

It was clear today, barely even a single could in sight and the sun was getting closer to its peak. Squinting a little, Draven peered closer to the sky before twisting his head away sharply, No! He wasn't going to take into the temptation that laid over head, even though his wings, all four of them, ached to fly again. NO! Eyes closing themselves tightly, Draven turned his back to the clear sky and pressed forwards back to the shadows where he belonged. Unknowing to him that he might just find someone that just might change things, if only a little bit anyways.

Aoibheann had spent the morning flying, and was now walking along a sun-dappled path toward home, to rest her wings, considering it had been an unusually long morning flight today. The soft morning sunlight shining shyly through the leaves warmed the browns of her coat and made the blues and greens of her scales and beautiful mane shine jewel-bright in the gloom under the trees. Even though Aoibheann almost never thought of herself as beautiful, she had to concede that the dappled sunlight made her quite as beautiful as her mate, children, and granddaughters, a thought which made her blush a bit.

She shifted her brown wings and whisked her brown tail feathers from time to time unconsciously, perfectly at ease for once. As she came around a bend in the path, she spotted what had to be one of the most unusual-looking stallions after the stallion she'd met recently who'd lived with hu-mans, Black Beauty. He was scarred, not uncommon in stallions, but the blacks and whites and the double pair of wings made for a very striking combination and gave him a sense of dignity. As for the lovely tattered cloth and the armor...her assumption was that he'd gotten it from the Goddess. It didn't happen very often, but sometimes the Goddess granted a kirin some special objects that a kirin wore with pride and honor. However, she could not see why the Goddess would have given him such a beautiful piece of cloth that would only get damaged.

Who was this stallion? Did he have a story like Black Beauty's story? She shook her head a little. Those questions, aside from introductions, came later. "Good morning," she said as clearly as possible. Now that she looked at the armor, could this stallion see her? She hoped he could, it would make it ever so much easier to communicate with him.

An ear pivoted backwards as the sounds of another came to him, someone else was about this morning. Shaking his long mane that laid over his scarred neck, hiding what was meant to be hidden. Head turning just as the strange brown and iridescent mare came to where he had just been standing. Stopping he looked back, his still growing tail flicking over his flank, what to do now? Another glance upwards, he turned as the mare called out greeting. He remained silent, ears flattening back a little leaving the armor crests to look much like twin horns, besides those that protruded from the armor's face.

"Morning." he replied, ears coming back forwards again, but only after a bit of mental force.

Wings shuffling, the larger set extending themselves a little giving a little breath to the smaller set the laid beneath them holding the cloth over his back in place. There were more then just scars hidden beneath those adornments. They were symbols of his shame, his torment and of course his failure as a colt. Head raising some, the large wings folding once more to his sides, though a bit lower then they had once been. Draven had to wonder why it was that his silence was always disturbed when he was at peace, now things were going to be in some turmoil.

Aoibheann noted that the stallion's response did not come easily. However, she was relieved to note that he could speak in the normal kirin fashion, unlike Black Beauty. Maybe his past was not so dark as Black Beauty's past...however...that yet remained to be seen. She watched the wings settle a trifle messily along his back, probably the result of having two pairs of wings to settle in place. It probably felt uncomfortable.

"I do not believe we've had the honor of meeting each other. I am called Aoibheann. I live with my mate and children some ways to the east of here. May I ask your name, noble stallion?" She adopted a formal tone and mode of speech so as not to offend the stallion. It did not do to speak without utmost care to a stallion who looked and spoke as this strange stallion did, and it never did to offend anyone, especially those who were not disposed easily toward friendship and socialization.

Draven's head turned to one side, the facing ear twisting backwards away from the words that fluttered from the mare. He noted her mentioning that she and her family lived somewhere close, that was good to know. It would mean that he could go another direction and not encounter them if he was most careful. Though he did have to give her credit for thinking that ht was noble, bah. Understatement... Well actually maybe not, he was anything but a noble. He was a shameful blotch in this world, shaking the thoughts away, he just stood there silently, most of himself holed up deeply.

"Draven." He announced to her introduction, "I live no where, have no one and need no one." Kinda blunt, but he was going to try and make a point of it. Draven was a loner and felt quite uncomfortable being around most others, well all others of his kind for the most part. Liking his silence and solitude, Draven also feared that he would bring harm to those he chose to get close to. This he could not bear to think about, not now or ever in this case. "Pleasure meeting you, Aoibheann." Course he would keep to his politeness, not wanting to really upset anyone, much less someone whom seems to have a large family who might be furious if something were to happen.

Aoibheann's ears flattened slightly at his brusque introduction, but she shook her head. Aoibheann had seen times when her sons had been difficult like this, and it was difficult to sway such an experienced mother, or irritate her. "It is a pleasure to meet you, too, Sir Draven," she said, carefully clinging to her composure. "It is the first time that I have met a young stallion who so firmly states that he needs no one, no home, and no thing."

Her three sons had occasionally tried to put on this kind of act, but this stallion did not seem to be acting, and she could not comprehend why a young stallion such as this Draven would be so cold and distant to the world around him...unless he'd suffered worse than her son Zephyr's mate Justice and worse than the young stallion Black Beauty. Was it possible that he was even more lost and alone than Justice and Black Beauty put together inside? She pushed the thought aside from the moment. That was the sort of thing to consider once Draven opened up more.

Above in the sky, low clouds started to gather slowly into a late autumn storm out of the east.

Taking a couple steps sideways, somewhat turning himself actually, Draven looked away from the mare. She did not understand his plight, not that he had said anything about it in the first place. Only mentioning that he had nothing and needed nothing, and it was the truth. He couldn't stand being around others at the moment, had his past been any different then maybe he would have been warmer to these wild Kirin. As it was, Draven was whom he was, an outcast to those around him and everything his father had told him about when he was younger.

"If only you knew" Was all that he uttered under his breath when she spoke up about his unease. "If only" Armored sockets turning skywards once more his ears laid back as the clouds had started to roll in, just perfect! A frown formed on his lips as he shook out his long mane, what else could go wrong today? "Storms coming." Not that he needed to really say anything as she had more then likely seen already. "Best be moving on and find somewhere some what dry to stay..." Yea, he was wanting to move away from these thinned out trees, they would provide little to no shelter from anything, much less the rain.

Head sweeping from side to side, everything looked pretty much the same, thinned trees all around him gave little indication to thicker sections of the forest. Snorting to himself, Draven just stood there watching the mare a moment, to see what she would do. Probably take flight to home, he could only hope anyways then he would take to the air and head away from her direction. That was really the only time the cloth wasn't as covering as it was on the ground. It would flutter and fan out at his sides, revealing that he wished to keep hidden from everyone...

Aoibheann cocked her head carefully, her dark eyes clouding with worry. Whatever he'd muttered under his breath didn't sound like his life had been pleasant. She glanced up at the sky as well. "True." She sighed a trifle sadly. "And it was shaping up to be such a nice day, too. Ah, well, the rain will do the feathers some good," she said a trifle ruefully. Judging from the way Draven looked around, he didn't know where the nearest form of shelter was. Aoibheann, however, had passed through a deeper section of forest not ten minutes ago that would provide some shelter from the rain, at least at first. Only caves were good protection from the rain, really, as the rain always soaked through even the deepest forests once it had gone on long and hard enough.

Aoibheann tossed her head a bit. "There's temporary shelter ten minutes back the way I came. I can take you there, if you'd like, Sir Draven," she said carefully. Even though Aoibheann didn't really like being around difficult characters, it sounded like she was stuck around Draven, at least until the rain stopped, and she seriously doubted that the rain would stop any time soon once it got started. It had that look to it, and it would be impolite to leave Draven alone in the rain. Impolite in the extreme. Which meant she'd be with him until it stopped raining. Drat. Zephyr, Justice, Mayur, and Vinesh would be worried, but there was no helping it.

Ears flicking back a moment, he watched the mare a frown creasing his features. Time with her? In a cave? No, no way he was headed away from here as fast as he could get. When the first drops of rain pattered against his armored face, it sounded more like rocks against his face. Shaking his head to clear the ringing from his head, oiy, what a headache. But they were just the first drops of many that were sure to fall.

"You can go, I will find somewhere's else." He mentioned looking away from her, uncomfortable with all this. "Your in danger as it is..." Draven left it there, that was all that needed to be said.

Pressing past the mare, he would at least head to the thicker trees where the rain would be less and the trees more sheltering. But he was refusing to shelter with the mare, something was always behind him. He wasn't ever sure where, but there was something, ever lurking in the shadows he had come to call home. Tail flicking a little behind him, Draven kept walking not looking to slow even if he was spoken to again. He had nothing to explain that anyone would understand.

Aoibheann sighed in irritation and walked after him. Honestly, this young stallion was quite frustrating. "If you think the rain poses a threat to my wings, it poses no threat to any of the feathers of me or my family; it cleans our feathers. Unless there's some other threat pursuing you that you wouldn't even tell to someone old enough, wise enough, and powerful enough to be your honored granddam, Sir Draven. I presume your honored dam told you as a colt that there are no secrets in the herd, Draven." She settled her wings more carefully on her back. "I am fully prepared to accept what you tell me, Draven, and I am perfectly prepared to accept whatever danger comes my way of knowing what danger you speak of and of getting to know you and spending time with you. A dam should be prepared to stand against a whole herd of kirkani for those she loves, and I do have that strength and courage if necessary, Draven."

"My dam was a human's sow, accordance to my sire. Nothing, but their breeding stock!" Draven let out quite suddenly, harshly and very bitterly. "So I have no herd, no morals to join one, for if I do then I bring them to hell when I fall to the heathens I once worked for." Biting his one tongue until blood seeped from the corners of his mouth, Draven stalked through the trees not looking back. "You may be strong, but they have things none of you wild hearted ones can fathom." This came from under his breath, barely being heard by those a distance away from him.

Too much, he had mentioned too much as it was, he would have brought shame to his father, to those he had once known. Shaking the guilt from his mind, if she fell then it would have been to her own fault, not his. Folded wings shuffled a little as he walked through the trees, the tapestry billowing a little, revealing slight scarring on his haunches as well as something worse. A branding, showing he was once owned by the heathens he cursed about to himself. "You are the foolish one, to bring this upon others. They should never know, nor will they ever know." Draven muttered to himself, ears laid back and eyes focused a head.

Aoibheann fell silent for a moment, though she continued to follow Draven. "I am sorry that you have known such hardship. You are fortunate to have come to a land where no one has any stories of humans, let alone memories thereof. You are not the first kirin to have lived with humans that I have met, but you are certainly the most hurt by it, and perhaps the most worried about spreading your suffering to others. Humans do not come to these lands, and if they did, I am sure the Goddess herself would protect our kind," she added with the conviction of one born with the utmost love and respect for the Goddess.

He just kept his mouth closed, it only seemed to drive him even the more crazy every time it opened and words spilled out. It wasn't enough that he had only wanted to remain alone, now he had to deal with someone who wanted to get to know him. Dangerous, very dangerous, but it seemed that no matter how much he tried. The mare never seemed to want to leave him alone. When the talk of the goddess protecting him in his new homelands he almost laughed. Actually he did laugh, a long cold and bitter laugh before he turned sharply watching the mare that followed him.

"She did bloody good protecting me when I was younger, when she took my father away from me. What a bloody brilliant goddess you wild ones pray to." His tone retained its bitterness as one set of wings stretched themselves outwards and up. "I doubt YOUR goddess could ever protect me, she hadn't then and I don't expect her to now." Feathers greatly ruffled, the outstretched wings made on powerful beat downwards, strewing whatever there was on the ground away. Though his hooves remained planted firmly to the ground, cold blue eyes glaring from the shadowed pits of his armor. "May your goddess protect you, but I am on my own, ALONE!"

Turning away once again, his wings back into their places at his sides, he stared stalking away. Head low and ears back, he wasn't about to listen to anymore babble about some goddess who didn't seem to give a hoot about him when his father praised her. Blessed her when he was born health and yadda yadda. Pathetic! Lips drawn into a tight frown, he just kept walking, tail flicking in agitation behind him, clearly showing he wasn't going to take much more.

For the first time, Aoibheann was truly furious. She wanted to scream at him, to cuff him with her wings, to do any number of things that were out of character for her. She restrained herself with effort, but his words about the Goddess could not be allowed to stand. "Perhaps the Goddess has some higher plan for you, but surely she would not be so vindictive as to give any kirin a life of only suffering, Sir Draven." She shook her head irritably.

"The shelter of which I spoke is beyond the bend in the path. I will stay with you out of courtesy's sake, but know this: no one deserves to live a life of suffering. If not for a little bit of happiness, what would be the point in living? As long as one can find and permit oneself at least a little bit of happiness, life is worth living, and we can free ourselves of the accursed shackles of misery and suffering to fly high and free in the skies of happiness."

Draven's eyes narrowed some before he stopped dead in his tracks and turned around, lowering his head towards the mare. The metal spikes from his armored face pointing forwards. There was definite rage within his hidden face. "And juat WHAT purpose would she have for me? To be someone's whipping boy?!" He growled, wings fluffing out some. "Seems to me that all you wild hearted fools put too much into this faceless goddess. What has she done for you? Probably absolutely NOTHING!" he didn't mean to be rude or even mean to the goddess that these wild Kirin thought very highly of, but he didn't believe that this goddess had anything for him. He was on his own, he knew that and he also knew that there would never be anyone who could share his burden.

Turning back away, he starting walking once again, turning the bend, but kept going. He didn't even look towards the shelter that Aoibheann had been talking about. It was of no concern to him, he would just find someplace else to bed down. Shaking the water from his mane, already water was seeping past the metal plating and making his face cold. Small plumes of steam rose from his nostrils as he kept walking. Though he stopped a moment and looked back, the cave would have been alright, but still. He wanted to be alone. The rain was starting to pour by this time and was making him more miserable. Fine! Turning he stalked towards the cave and had plans on pressing as far to the back as he could.

"Just KEEP to your side of the cave." Draven said quite roughly as he turned his back to everything.
