Someone put the whole thing on Youtube, but they edited it so the Master won't be in it so much. Should I watch it the way they did it, or should I wait until someone puts it up like it was originally done? And if you have it yourself, would you mind putting it on Youtube?

eh... Wait till you see it all together.

Personally, The Doctor was great but the rest was total rubbish.

Thanks to Fox Entertainment, the movie is set in the US and made for US viewers. Problem is, US TV executives dont get Brit TV. They dont understand why we love it if things arent blowing up or full of chase scenes. This movie DID have a car chase too. (well.. Motorcycle/Ambulance chase). It was pretty lame.

The Master was horribly over-acted. In the end, he puts on some outfit that looks like bad Dungeons & Dragons Cosplay.

The non-Timelord characters were pretty substandard too. One is writen as a street-wise gang-banger teenager. Problem is, nobody (least of all a street kid living by his wits) would be tricked into changing sides by someone that throws him around in half the scenes they are together and threatens him constantly.

The female lead is pretty flat as a character too. I get that there are some people who resist accepting what they see happening right in front of their eyes. But this lady spends half the film denying the obvious. Oh... and many people think the Rose/10th Doctor relationship took things to far... compared to this movie, that was nothing.

There is also a "revelation" in it that makes every true Who fan cringe (and most of us completely ignore it every time its mentioned like we are kids hearing bad news, covering our ears and screaming to block it out.) I wont even bother to say what it is, but when you see the film, you will understand. I pretend that part isnt canon. haha

Im just glad this didnt get picked up as a series. It would have probably ran the franchise into the ground to a point it never could return.

Still.... Its Doctor Who, and only because of that, its worth a look. Just keep expectations low.
Wait to see the whole thing, because if yer gonna do it, do it right.

And screw Youtube. Download BitComet or another torrent downloader. You can download the whole movie and watch it that way. And when yer done, you can download Sarah Jane (Dont think thats aired in the US).

The half human statement was total rubbish. I again blame Fox for trying to push a story arc that Americans would understand. (And lets just be honest, They were ripping off Star Trek and explaining The Doctor to be like Spock with a human mother and Timelord Father.)

There are plenty of other plot holes in that movie big enough to fly a Dalek fleet through.

For example,
The eye is the Power supply for all of Galifrey. Why is it even on the TARDIS?

More to the point... why would it require a human eye to open?
Thats the lamest security feature Ive ever heard of.

The answer is simple. Its to give the human characters a point in this movie. Short of the Doctor snogging one, they really dont do anything except... shoot him, kill him in the hospital, steal his stuff call mental health on him, kick him out or prevent him from getting in "secured areas", are COMPLETE morons (Hint: when your patient keeps sitting up in surgery, you dont keep cutting. Hint: When the someone threatens your life over and over if you dont do what they tell you to do, you dont usually believe them when they say they are the GOOD guy and the nice old man whos stuff you stole is the bad guy - Gengis Kahn in fact.).

So REALLY? Why a human eye security feature? The Time lords viewed Humans as a primitive species. But there are a lot of them. If Timelords wanted to prevet other Timelords from accessing the eye, they would have come up with something a bit better.
That would be like us making a Bunny Rabbit's eye needed for access to the UN missile stocks (as if saying that because Bunnies wouldnt try to open it, its a good security device).

These are just some of the BIG issues they ad in this film, the list goes on and on. It was just crap. If you sayw this movie and it didnt have Doctor Who in the title, you would say its crap too.

I agree the whole Movie was a bit rubish but the idea of the Doctor being half human wasn't all that bad.

Consider this for a moment.

Time Lords do not like aliens. They won't have them on the planet let alone take them traveling through time and space.

His companions consider him more human than some humans are.

He was an outcast from the beging.

Why does he come back to Earth so much. No other Time Lord goes to Earth as much as the Doctor?

So That's why I liked the Half Human/Time Lord Idea. I didn't like how it was produced in the movie though.

Consider this for a moment.

Time Lords do not like aliens. They won't have them on the planet let alone take them traveling through time and space.

Time Lords view humans as inferior. So why would they let the Doctor keep the Eye of Harmony (the greatest treasure of their people) on his TARDIS if he was a half-human?

His companions consider him more human than some humans are.

and by this, they refer to him having more compassion for humans than humans have for each other. I think this suggests he is less "Human" than the rest of us, and therefore superior.

He was an outcast from the beging.
... because of his actions, not because his dad got busy with an Earth woman. He was forever breaking Time Lord law of non-interference. And he was helping save whole worlds besides Earth.

Why does he come back to Earth so much. No other Time Lord goes to Earth as much as the Doctor?

Why London? Why not Canada? Maybe he likes earth. Maybe its because, as a show, you cant travel through space and TIME without a way to measure TIME... and earth history can be used to show us viewers forwards and backwards in time. Just a guess... but hes on earth because that was the whole basis of the friggen show! razz

So That's why I liked the Half Human/Time Lord Idea. I didn't like how it was produced in the movie though.

And here is why I hate it:
Because the idea is some crap US TV execs added to try and make the character familiar with US viewers. Because they thought we (as humans) wont be attached to a character that isnt human. So they slap the Spock template on him (because People liked Spock because he wasnt a full Vulcan). The Doctor was never half human. The Doctor never would have been half human. That hasnt been brought up again because even the BBC knows it retarded.

But in the partnership with Fox and the BBC, Fox wanted to put a US spin on the show. Thats why it wasnt set in London. Thats why it took place in America.

Listen, I accept a certain amount of information from that movie.
I accept that there was an 8th Doctor. I accept that he fought the Master in the US on the eve of the millenium and once again saved the world. I even accept that the master tried to steal the Doctor's lives.

But thats about it. I throw out the rest. I throw out EVERYTHING except the basic story and the manner in which Paul McGann. portrayed the 8th Doctor.
I think he would have been great if Fox wasnt making additions and changes to the story and characters.

In the end: I look at an event from the movie and unless I can back it up with story or information from the original 7 doctors or the 9th and 10th (soon to be 11th)... then I disregard it as bullshit that Fox added, thus making it no longer canon.

AMERICA - "Ruining other peoples s**t, since 1776"

Its like we take other peoples thoughts ideas and creations.. make it our own, then completely ruin the very essence that made it what it was... seriously...

The name of that book is The Nth Doctor, by Jean-Marc Lofficier. It has a bunch of never-made Who movie proposals & scripts discussed in it, including several in the 90's that were a series that led eventually to the finished TV Movie.
There was some pretty crazy stuff in some of them, including one with Borusa as the Doctor's grandpa or some such and his spirit living inside the TARDIS rolleyes
I think Richard Swift talked about them in one of his threads.
I sure miss his posts. sad
