It had been many months since Ruin rose from her crypt. Where she went, nobody knew, but what they did know was that along with her release came a curse, something similar to a plague.

It was no ordinary plague, oh no. It ate away at the mind of its victims, and if their will was not strong enough, it could easily consume them. Once they were consumed, their flesh would change, and they would become monstrous.

Turmoil all over the kingdoms, for spiritkinds. We are not so different from Earthens, are we? We can suffer. We can feel pain. We can feel fear for ourselves and those around us. We can be changed.

This curse of Ruin also had another symptom: Power. Oh yes, it took much away from its victims, but gave them power, and it became apparent that the ones who searched for the curse could bypass losing their minds to it, because they wanted it to consume them.

The world became unbalanced, but that is why the Espions existed.

Lithe creatures who could soar in the heavens and gallop across the earth at astounding speeds. It was written that many hundreds and thousands of years ago, a witch of spiritkind and a witch of earthen kind combined their spells, and out of their cauldron were born the spirits of the Espion.

"We are not void of free will," their spirits said. "And we will only appear when the time is right. Until then, we live alone, as spirits." and thus, the conjured souls departed.

And now, they have begun to appear. Was it curiosity that called to them, or the need to intervene?

[ This is considered an event/sub metaplot. I must leave this one to you guys, invent some issue, a crisis, or anything you'd like that you believe would summon out an Espion.

I will announce when it is over, and those who participated (Please have had at least 5 posts or more) will then call out in a roll call, and a raffle will be held for the participants. This is the prize.

User Image

Good luck, and have fun! Be as creative as you can, and its okay to make up villains who may have been cursed, be epic if you can!

----ENDS OCT. 28-----

This is really an event that you guys will need to collaborate on and take responsibility. To help spice things up, I will be awarding a few heart pieces as well at the end.

A Prequel
Ruin’s plague corrupted everything; nothing could be left unaffected. Seir
was no different.

Oh, the curse hadn’t touched him physically, but he could see that this was a chance that only he
could take advantage of if he reached out to capture it with both hands. This was an opportunity, an
opening, to move forward with his plans, plans that could shake the world if he planned carefully
enough. Did he care if anyone disapproved? Not in particular, as his first order of business was to
lay siege on the places that would prove to be most troublesome to deal with now rather than later.

Seir gathered an army of the cursed moonfolk, tongue persuasive and manipulative. They had
power, but what more were they than just one powerful creature when they were alone? He moved
them with seductive whispers of promised dreams and wishes of what they most wanted at their
fingertips. As for those that had succumbed to that of a mindless beast, there was only a mild
difficulty in beating them into submission. They could be corralled like cattle, as long as there was
someone shepherding them into the right direction.

All in all, the Constellation of Stolen Faith did not have much trouble wrapping his fingers around
this apple of opportunity.

As the bright sun disappeared from the sky, it left only the waning light in its aftermath. The
evening only brought the Festival to a higher level of excitement. Lanterns were dolled out on
streets, drunkards moved from bar to bar, and just general cheer. They couldn't have been more
unaware…

The battle had began in what seemed like ages ago.

The ground was soaked and slippery with wet snow and frost as the Ice Constellation passed.

Yet, the horde of cursed beings continued without pause to destroy anything that surrounded it.
Aeos was careful, very careful, to stay up in the air, content to watch and only take action when
something drew his attention. His expression was neutral with his mouth was pressed into a thin
line, showing neither joy nor disappointment in regards to whatever was happening around
him.

Unlike his brother, Seir visibly showed his interest in the blood and chaos
surrounding him. He flew and tossed orders around, an amused grin playing on his lips. With his
ability to manipulate water, the Constellation coated wherever he passed with water without the
need to touch the ground. ‘The one with black lightning will enjoy this,’ he mused, having no regard
except pleasure to the deafening cries and pleas of the moonfolk around him.

Seir could even enjoy the rattle of gunfire.

This was war.

The Curse may as well have been a blessing; Rosel couldn't imagine anyone would fight it's gift, though apparently there were more than a few who had foolishly done so. Who wouldn't want power, the ability to control, the ability to cast others beneath you for no fault other than having chosen to be weak? Anyone who chose that lesser life of softness deserved to have all of hell rained upon them, and then some. The battle started so quickly, descended upon the outlying village like a bolt of lightning. Or a tidal wave.

Casting a glance up, Rosel could have rolled her eyes at Seir, floating above the chaos as though he were in all ways above it. To get a real sense of the destruction, one had to walk among it, feel the flicker of the flames, touch the splintering wood, hear the cries of the damned thrumming through one's veins. And of course if any of the aforementioned damned got too close to her person, a quick jolt of lightning quickly resolved the matter.

As it was, the mindless drones were working fairly well, rending buildings and plantlife to shreds. A hysterical twilif ran just a bit too close to Rosel and she let a bit of lightning chase the small thing for a short ways before catching up and bursting into a fierce nest of flames over the back of her clothes. Rosel turned and smiled to herself as the screams elevated. In all the excitement, lightning danced over her arms and she could hardly contain herself as she came to a massive tree. A hand darted up to the sky, lightning following the motion up into the clouds. A snap of her fingers and it descended again, snapping through the trunk of the tree in an explosion of splinters and fire. As the leaves quickly curled into ash, a heavy column of smoke curled into the sky.

Looking up again as she stretched her neck, Rosel noticed Aeos as well as Seir in the sky and could have snorted in disdain. No appreciation at all for the chaos on the ground, even if the mindless Cursed were doing most of the dirty work. In sheer irritation, a bolt of lightning shot out to destroy a low stone wall, hurling back the terrified few hiding behind it.

"Goddamnit." Noctis scowled as his boots touched the wet areas that followed Seir, looking disgustedly at the wet ends of his coat. How could the constellation leave puddles when he wasn't even on the ground? Damn elementals.

"Yo Seir. Leaving muddy water behind you doesn't make it any easier for walking constellations to walk behind you." Noctis snapped, leaping onto a tree branch located near the traveling group. He decided that he would travel by tree branches, avoiding spots of moisture. Wasn't it bad enough that the air was humid with the scents of dead flesh and pungent odors? One of the main reasons Noctis had a distaste for death was the evidence that it left behind, the sour smells of decaying flesh created a larger tension within him.

His fingers twitched on the gun triggers, his body was relaxed in a deceptive manner. He wanted to shoot. Shoot everything. Everything he could. If one took a look at his expression, both of his eyes glowed a fierce red, indicating his 'berserk' state. His coat hung wide open, belts scattered all over his white coat, the sounds of metal hitting each other.

Noctis knew not who he teamed up with. All he knew was that the black constellation had approached him, accompanied by the blue one. The blue one hadn't spoken much. If at all. But what did that matter? Unnecessary chatter was useless. All he needed to know was that this group had more than fit his standards nicely. Wreck chaos on his own terms. This curse.. well, Noctis didn't consider it a curse. Power was always welcomed, on Noctis's terms of course.

----

Noctis was suddenly surprised by the explosion of the tree, intending to land on it's branches next. Splinters dropped below him as they hit the white fabric, some pierced his hands and face. Shielding himself by pulling his coat in front of himself, he leaped back onto the ground with a harsh sound, dirt blowing behind him. The click of a gun could be heard, a transformed long black gun stood directed at Rosiel.

"What the hell were you doing?!" He demanded, more than a a little bit annoyed. "Next time you blow up a damned tree, you better not be aiming at me. Cause these bullets are heading straight towards you." He snapped angrily, mouth set in a scowl of displeasure. Nobody harmed him without getting away with it. She certainly hadn't blown up that tree on 'accident' now, did she?

Grasssglitter was running her small fortune-telling business at the All-Hallows festival, as she did at every festival. She maybe had some real, small gift of prophesy, but she'd be a monkey's Aunt if it would show her anything useful - she had to fake a lot of her readings, but the sense of luck her race had innately was definitely a plus. Ability and trust were some good trade-offs for not having very delicate hands like the bipedal Moonfolk, that was for certain!
Then, something terrible happened - hadn't she smelled it on the wind? Didn't she have to keep convincing herself to go to the festival this season? Well, ride her to death and back, she'd gone and ignored those warnings, and this is what she got - the village was being overrun with Moonfolk who had been inflicted with the curse of Ruin, killing willy-nilly and taking more strength to take down than the average citizenry could muster save in large numbers.

Which is why Grassglitter had been running as fast as her paws could take her back to her den - the home of her precious hoard. Given the circumstances, it seemed the right thing to do.
She spotted her carefully hidden entrance and dove in, scrabbling through the narrow pass that led to her comfortably-sized living area. She dashed past that and through another hidden entryway to her hoard, and pawed through the smallish pile within for her knife. When she found it, she unsheathed it and put the handle in her mouth, and turned to get back out to the village, beating the well-traveled road hard in her haste.
She might have only been a small-time fortune teller for her profession, but that didn't mean she didn't know her way around a sword! Treasured blade at the ready, she dove into the tide of cursed. Some folks were about to get very unlucky tonight.

((Hurray! Blargh..sadly I wont be home till 1:00 pst tomorrow..so whatever happens I'll be back then to reply to stuffs..-fwee- ))
"Honestly..I almost admire the work..I certainly admire the power! Ohoho..ohh if I had had powers like that! Tsk..then again, maybe if I were something other then a wretched poe." the body of the figure waned and solidified, the glow from the cursed lantern dim. Kaibas ghastly smile wide across his face, his eyes fixated on the battle going on before them.
"You..admire?" Triton gave a low whistle, the pair off a bit from the battle, tucked in between a small line of trees, where the wall ended and the fields began, simply waiting and watching for the moment. "I'm once again shocked kaiba. I didn't think you cared much for the moon-kin, thought you loathed them actually"

Kaiba blinked and smirked brightly, cackling at triton's suggestion "You mistake me mage, It's not the constellation I'm admiring..Its the other who's hand is at work here. Anyone can start a brawl, but to steal the mind and yet leave life, leave soo much power within a body that has no true soul guiding it anymore. That takes an artists work, this cursed one we've heard tell of ahh I wish I'd had the chance to meet her."
"This brawl looks more like the beginnings of a very big war to me kaiba" triton commented with an offhanded gesture.
"War's are pathetic things of men and earthings, and babe kings who think themselves lords. This isss merely a tiff..a tiny battle..pfft, and the one who started it is probably just as childish and idiotic as any fleshling human could be" kaiba said rolling his eyes as he glared at triton, groaning inwardly that the man would truly think war some great feat..

"My evil little poe with a heart of gold, you care so much for the suffering of your kind" triton sighed softly shaking his head as he stepped past kaiba. "Does this mean you'll be joining me then? I feel a bit..angry today and we both know the best way to cage rage is to set it free" triton shrugged giving kaiba one of those smiles he knew the poe just hated, of course the poe always hated when he was happy. Sure that kaiba would hate him all the more tomorrow when he was back in town and drunk off his arse oh yes if he'd be done by tomorrow whether the battle was won or not he didn't intend on staying any longer then that. If they hadn't been there for the festival they would have entirely missed this little fiasco."It's rare one gets to fight monsters of this caliber isn't it"
"Ech..help you slay beings sooo beneath me, when have I ever...I swear we've been together far to long if you think I'll actually try to be of any 'use' to you. Just keep your head up and don't die little brat, mayhaps I'll even lend you bahtier!"
"Seriously that b*****d child of yours? I'd rather die then, you enjoy your observations kaiba" triton said with a huff as he stalked out onto the field, carefully rifling through his shoulder bag as he went, now what spell to use first. Triton had a mind for facing whomever that lightning user had been, one just had to love lightning!
"Kekeke..maybe I'll let him loose anyways, one never knows what use a banshee can be in such situations" Kaiba snickered as he faded away, off to haunt another good vantage point from which he could watch from. Mayhap's he would let bahtier loose, if only to annoy triton.

Daskri felt his breath catch as he came upon the dismal scene. A small shiver running through the dark green constellations body as he watched in awe, a familiar feeling of sickness driving him to cringe away from it all for a moment. A war..honestly a war? Hadn't there been enough wars, enough pain and and suffering..and why!! Daskri sniffed softly, running his hand over his braid in a motion that seemed one of habit to him. He hated wars..
Had it not been for kliment he wouldn't have known, he'd managed to speak with his dear twilif friend shortly after all chaos had seemed to break loose, hear of the evil ruin and her curse, the seer and the strange unknown woman with her book. It had been an odd thing to see kliment so terrified, for he'd never imagined his friend could feel fear.
Then again he also would have never believed that moon-kin would go in and start up a war, to try and profit from the curse that had washed over the land and changed so many good into things of such evil. It was becoming apparent to him that he may not have known his 'kind' as well as he'd thought.

Taking another solid deep breath daskri burst out onto the field, paint brush in hand dipped low enough as he hovered swiftly across the ground to just barely touch the puddles that littered the muddy and bloody battle field. The puddles changing between bright hues of pink and gold as they were splashed with color from the magical brush.
Whipping by one malformed creature, the cursed beast lashing out at daskri a crack in the earth where the moon-kin had just been. "You must all be destroyed..." a bright splash of blue paint suddenly solid as a blade slicing away the offending arm of the beast who had dared to strike at him.
The creature howled in pain and yet still it came after him, striking out again at daskri, the long claws brushing close enough to stir the twilifs long braid the cursed so powerful and fast. "All of you" even as he sliced away the monsters remaining arm he couldn't help but glare at Aeos and Seir, hovering high up above the battle field. A relentless mixture of anger and sadness filling his thoughts, it just didn't make sense. Why aeos? Had he been touched by the curse? Though daskri doubted it, their icy friend had been one who possessed a strong mind and a soft spirit. At least he had thought so...

Epona was her on way to the festival with Sage. Both were still young and innocent so they did not understand what was going on at first. They saw people fighting, exploding trees and zombies and sadly, the little ones were stuck in the middle of this with no idea what to do.

Epona hugged Sage with a terrified face. She didn't know to who she should turn to. Sage put on his brave face but the silent bunny was scared to death as well.

Among the fighters, they tried to find a friendly face...

Jadecrystal sighed and rushed into the fray, kicking, slashing, and impaling whatever got into her way, crying out for the monster's souls silently. This was wrong. They almost had no souls, and the pain of that realization was enough to almost rip the soul guardian's heart!
She couldn't stand it, couldn't stand it, didn't want this to be happening... "No..." Jadecrystal muttered quietly, shivering from the cold and the sight of the pain.

This was destroying the girl's heart...she was young, she hated to see the pain of a lost soul. It was Jadecrystal's place to guide the souls! And as the young Holy Beast knew in her heart, this wasn't right, they couldn't exist...right? But they obviously did, and Jade cried out in a short burst of pain as a claw caught her on the flank. And she attacked the monster that had landed a hit on her, silent tears beginning to fun down her cheeks.

"This is wrong..."

And as she looked around for whoever tried to kill her next, she caught sight of a pair of young children. Jadecrystal bounded over to them quickly. "You're not soulshattered...get onto my back," the Holy Beast said with tears running down her face, "I don't want the soulshattering of an innocent to be my fault...not now..."

The little ones looked surprised to see such a beast coming to their aid but her voice was so gentle and peaceful that it calmed them just enough to realize they could trust her.

"Who are you?" Epona whispered in awe. "You're so beautiful..."

But Sage pulled her hand toward the Holy Beast. The creatures were getting closer to them and the last thing he wanted was to become monster food. He managed to get her and him on the back of the magnificient beast.

Jadecrystal smiled a sad smile-the smile of someone who has seen to much-at the compliment coming from the small rabbit-like Phyrefly. "I'm Jadecrystal, what's your name? I'm actually not all that much older then you, so just call me Jade. I'll take you somewhere safe."
PostPosted: Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:46 am

"Oh... That's such a beautiful name! I'm Epona," said cheerfully the little Phyrefly. "And this is my brother, Sage."

Even though the two of them weren't related in any way, Epona liked to called the silent rabbit 'brother'. It made her feel safe to know she wasn't alone in the world.

She was so distracted by Jade that she forgot they were in a the middle of a warzone. Sage didn't and gently but urgently tapped on Jade's neck to make her understand they needed to leave.

However, the little bunny was very skeptical about where they could be safe. The fighting seemed to be everywhere in their village. He hoped one of the adults thought about a base camp.

The little one knew not much about the big world, but he prayed in his mind that something will come and save the village from these creatures.

Zahara hovered above what remained of the festival, horrified by the sheer scope of wanton destruction.
Unsure of what she should do, what she COULD do, she remained in a form comprised of sparkles of light:
blending with the awakening stars... so long as no one looked too closely.
It was easier for her to absorb light energy in this form anyways;
and for her to form and draw her weapon, she would need as much energy as she could get.

Below her, she watched the ice constellation, Aeos she though his name was, and a darker elemental she had never seen before.
The water elemental seemed to be conducting the symphony of destruction below;
though she noted two other dark constellations that seemed to be assisting him in this careful orchestration of chaos.

Drifting quietly closer, the Radiance of the Skies listened closely, wondering if she would overhear anything important
and praying her own light would not be noticed... hoping an opportunity to help try and turn the tide of the battle might arise.

Aulora stood frozen, wide-eyed and terrified at the fringes of the battle.
The phyrefly was so small and the fighters so intent that no one had yet noticed her.

But she wouldn't have seen them coming even if they were after her.

Her eyes were fixed above the battle on Mr. Aeos.
She didn't know what the icy constellation was doing...
but she hoped he was safe; because he had always been so nice to her!

From the darkness of the woods, a pair of amber-hued eyes watched the chaos that was going on around the village. Their soft glow was barely notable, and the creature moved silently among the trees.
It was about the size of a lynx, with a slender body. Its small hooves made hardly any sound as they touched the ground when the spirit circled the village.

It neither drew close nor backed away, simply observing for the time being. But if one had been close enough to see it clearly, it would have been obvious that this spirit was simply waiting for its chance.

"Oh, this sure seems like a lot of trouble.." it uttered to itself in a soft, melodic voice, hardly any louder than a whisper.
"This might call for my brethren.."

Then, the spirit's eyes fell upon a small phyrefly, and it galloped to the child's side. "It's not safe here, little one", the Espion said, curling its long tail defensively around them.

Gazing out past the area she was in Rylia let her legs dangle from the tree she had took the liberty of sitting in to try and get a better view of the recent happenings not to far away from her. She wasn't interested, nor overly concerned about what the big deal was. It didn't seem to affect her in anyway, at least from what she could see, so why worry about it? No need to. It was someone else's problem, or perhaps more then that, the world's. But the world doesn't revolve around one person nor does it contain one person, being, or even entity. Just as there was no one side. Good and Evil. Coexisting but opposing sides that eventually would come to drag the other down or fight it for a common state in which life would ensue on either a positive or negative path. These recent happenings however were not of a common positive state, but of a negative one and she wasn't about to become part of something that involved others.

She stood, her hand against the bark of the tree she was on as she gazed into the distance before looking up towards the sky and then towards the ground. "Looks like it's already started..." whispered a voice near her, a small creature or rather humonculous sat on a branch about a foot above her. Rylia glanced up towards the humonculous as if to ask a question, but spoke not a sentence, but a word. "Kiru" she uttered, staring up at the small creature as if she seeked an answer to what was happening on the other side, or rather a short distance from where she was. "It seems the curse has finally taken it's toll. What we have on the other side appears to be nothing but a parade of power-hungry fools who seek nothing more then to crush and annihilate those in their path and against their cause." Kiru said, nodding to Rylia as stared up at him with eyes that appeared to be looking for answers.

"So what we have....is a disaster of some sort? Has no one appeared to stop or even pause their efforts or parade?" she asked as she no longer made eye contact with Kiru, her eyes fixated towards the part of the area not to far from her that was being marched about by those with dark intentions.

"It would be wise not to involve yourself"

"I don't plan to, but it seems I don't have much of a choice"

"what exactly do you mean? If you avoid the cause, you will never see the effect"

"and yet the effect will most likely affect my way of life. Besides, do you really think I won't encounter them in some fashion?"

"I suppose you make a valid point. The world doesn't stretch in a horizontal line, nor does it continue forever. Running would just provoke them. So just what do you plan on doing?"

"I will most likely remain neutral...if that's possible. If not then, I'll try to stall time before I 'pick' a cause to stand under"

"Not bad. You've really come a long way since I met you. You didn't even know left from right properly when we first met"

Rylia let out a soft chuckle as a small smile slowly crept it's way onto her face. "It's thanks to you...and some others I've met on my journey since I got here..." she said as she looked ahead. "Every second they draw closer...is it wise to stay on this path they will soon cross?"

"who knows...but if these guys are constellations, you don't exactly have a very good chance if you engage them"

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that..." she whispered as she stood up on the branch she had been sitting on, her right hand against the main body of the tree. "Let's see if we can get a better look from up there..." she said as she leapt up, using each branch she jumped onto to climb higher until she felt she was high enough, Kiru on a branch right above her as she looked out into the distance. Rylia squinted her eyes as she noticed a few floating objects or...whatever it was not too far away.
