Toretin... one of the many clans that litter Gaia. It is a clan made up of those who enjoy fighting, and are masters of it in their own sense. Many are berserkers, and few are skillful. They rely on strength rather than though, with the exception to a few who know that strength can not solve all problems. Amoung this small group of those who beleive that the mind must also be used rests a young female neko. Being the secound in command of the clan she is by far one of the stongest fighters there at least in the skill aspect, but she is lacking in the will to lead. The clan survive's becuase she helps to lead, and in the end it would be her decision to decide what would happen to the clan, and finally its full destruction.
Nesteled in a darker corner of Durem, the clan of Toretin is in constant battle with those around them. Toretin, to this point, has never actually had any contact with the Shinigami clan. The female neko is the only one of the group to have any connection to the clan of the Shinigami, and she is bound to stay with Toretin to keep those there safe. It was not known that when a rival clan attacked the Toretin that many other clans would side with them in the hope to kill off the Toretin clan. One of their main targets is the female leader with connections with the Shinigami clan. She would be the one to whom the fighting would start, and she would also be the one to decide the fate of Toretin.
As the fighting started, a message was sent directly to Guyy, the leader of the Shinigami, asking for some assistance. The message was sent along by means of a young boy who knew the library that the young neko had spoken of, the Shinigami Library. With that decision made, the female neko turned herself to defending her people. Marie was left only to hope for the best and that some member of the Shinigami clan would get ahold of her message and deliver it to Guyy with hope that he would remember who she even was. Impressions of meeting rarely lived long in people's memories, but if Marie remembered she hoped Guyy would as well. Now only time could tell.

The sky was dark with the storm that was raging it way through Durem at the time of the attacks. In all the attack had started almost an hour ago, but still the members of the Toretin were going strong. Marie was kneeling next to a wounded member of the Toretin with her hand out stretched over his limp form. Water formed in the air before forming a thin layer around the man. As the water cleared, the figure inside the bubble was healed enough to sit up. "Get out of here. The line if falling back to here, and it won't take long for the fighting to get into the main base. Hurry and take cover there for the time being. I'll be back there with those I can gather when I get the chance." Marie was happy to see the young man nod before starting off. Marie stood up slowly as she looked down the street. In the lighting that flashed overhead she could see others fighting all about the street.
"This is bad, very bad. It doesn't matter though, none of this will if something doesn't happen soon." Marie said before starting off down the street. She had to help those that she could, and those fighting two at a time were her main concern. The fighters of the Toretin were strong, but in all honesty they weren't strong enough to take on mutliple foes at the same time of the same skill. Marie's main concern was with healing, but she also had gotten into a few fights herself from the appearence of her clothes. The main body of her clothes were fine, but up her arms were tears from where weapons had managed to cuase her some harm. Her own wounds had already been healed as she fought, and she was lucky for the rain. The rain gave her more strength to use water with.
Marie quickly placed herself in a fight where a single member was fighting off three members of enemy clans. Marie, with her weapon still sheathed at her side, charge the first fighter, a young woman, before dodging a swing from the young female's sword. Marie grabbed the back of the blade before jerking it from the fighters hands before stepping in and taking ahold of the fighters neck with her right hand while her right foot stepped in. Without any hesitation Marie threw the young female fighter head first at the ground knocking her out almost instantly. Marie used the blade she had taken from the female fighter to go after a secound member of a rival gang.
Marie charged at a young man who turned to face her after she had taken care of the female fighter. Marie tossed the sword into her right hand as she stepped right foot forward into inwards towards her foe. Marie brought her sword down as the young man brought his sword up. Their blades locked for a moment before Marie changed her grip on the sword and jumped up into the air. She flipped over the young man before tossing her stolen sword into the air as she grabbed ahold of the top of the mans head. Marie used her momention to throw the man to the ground like the female before him, but she didn't have enough to cause him to hit the ground hard enough to knock him out. Before the man could rise, Marie grabbed the sword she had tossed into the air as it dropped next to her before thrusting it into the young mans gut. it wasn't a fatal wound, but enough to incanpacitate him. By this time the other member of the Toretin had dealt with the remaining enemy.
"Yein, go back towards the main building. Gather anyone you can as you go back. Things are getting worse and it's looking like there may be a massed attack there." Marie said to her ally who nodded before going off. With this brief moment of rest, Marie looked at the damaged caused by the fighting. It was a good thing that this was on the outside of Durem, otherwise things would be bad.

Marie had continued on her way and had wisely chosen to gather as much people of the Toretin back to their headquarters before taking a break agiasnt a building. During the fighting that had happened since her discussion with Yein, she had been wounded once with a wound that concerned her. The other wounds had all healed rather easily with her ability to heal, but this one was a deep wound in her side. It had been a careless mistake on her part, and even though she had been able to seal the wound she still hurt badly on that side and there was a chance she would reopen the wound. In the back of her mind she silently wondered if her message had ever arrived to Guy of the Shinigami Clan, or if he even took the time to respond to the message. Marie had been counting it up in her mind now, and she was starting to relize that mabye the Toretin clan would not need the Shinigami's help. She had no clue that she was wrong, horribly wrong.
A moment later and that reason became clear. Marie had started to push herself up only to be tossed back to the ground by a large explosion in the distance. Marie jumped back up to her feet using her momentum from falling, but it didn't matter. She probably shouldn't have wasted the energy by getting up. In the distance, Marie could see fire burning. She knew what it was without even actually seeing the building that had caught fire with an explosion. Marie closed her eyes slowly before looking up at the sky agian. Marie remained like that for some time before a voice made itself known to her from a short distance away. "And so your clan dissapears. It's fitting for a clan of mindless murderers."
Marie slowly opened her eyes as she turned to face the man who had spoken to her. His appearence didn't point out anything special about him, but Marie knew better than to assume that this man wasn't a threat to her. Marie could feel in the air the stillness that warned her that she wasn't dealing with another amature fighter. Marie cocked her head to the side as she watched the man. " A curious statement. I'd hardly say the children who were raised in our clan were murderers, and if I'm right you were the one's who attacked us." Marie replied without much hesitation. Marie watched as lightning flashed overhead giving her a good idea of the appearence of the man she was facing. His dark brown hair was long, actually longer than her own hair, and his size gave her a bit of concern. He was about twice her size meaning hand to hand fighting was out of question. Marie knew it was strength that gave the man his size, and that only gave her more worry. Besides that he was dressed rather plain with only a sword attached to his size. To someone else, the man might have seemed simply like he was built, but to the rather small Marie he was huge.
"It is what you would have raised them to be. I'd say we gave them a better chance in the afterlife by killing them rather than leaving them to become the murders that your clan would have raised them to be. Now on to more pressing matters. You are Marie, the secound leader to the clan, yes? Either way it doesn't matter. We have already dealt with Caren, meaning you are the last big threat we have to worry about. I would prefer just ending this quickly so I'm going to ask you to just give up." The man gave a shrug after this statement, which Marie took as arrogance. "Sorry, I'm not just going to lay down and die." Marie said with annoyance clear in her voice. In the back of her mind she was running through details of what to do to get out of the trouble a fight would put her in. If she fought this man he would recieve back up fast from other clan members, but Marie stood no such chance. Practically all of her clan was gone from what she had just been told. Marie was a lone clan member, one who happened to have little chance of outrunning a group of clans hunting her. No amount of luck was going to save her if this came down to a fight that drew more fighters.
"Well then, I suppose I'll have to remove you by force then." There was no malice in that voice. To him, this was just work. To Marie, this was her life on the line. As the man drew forth his sword, Marie dropped her hand to the sword at her side. She couldn't risk a fight here, not without expecting to die. 'Time to go then.' Marie thought lightly before crouching with her feet spread apart. The man watching her watched with mild intrest before smiling lightly at the sight of Marie preparing. He thought she was going to fight. Marie gave no more pause as she lunged forward and pulled free her sword all in the same motion. The man stepped in at Marie as he swung his sword down. Marie jumped back just in time to see the blade cut the air and n** the ground lightly. Intantly the ground caved in as if hit by a huge weight. "Not good." Was all Marie said as she jumped to the side before sheathing her sword as she took off at a sprint. The man watched her go, not actually turning to go after her.
