Kabocha grinned as he looked around. Pumpkins were EVERYWHERE! Big ones, small ones, some as big as his head! There were a lot of other children running around as well. Each seemed to be trying to find the biggest pumpkin in the entire patch. To the side, a tractor pulling a trailer with hay bales stacked on it waited for passengers to load up for the hay ride.
Nate, of course, had run off to join the hunt for the largest pumpkin. Talner had already decided they were not going to carve them this year, but paint them instead. It took out sharp utensils, which was a good thing!

The trip to where the Pumpkins were growing was relatively uneventful aside from the point before hand where Ai found himself stuck in clothing that wasn't as soft as he would like. He preferred pretty, wispy fabric but he was told where they were going that wouldn't cut it and it would end up ruined. One thing he disliked more then wearing what he was wearing was the idea of ruining the clothing he normally wore so it hadn't been to long a debate to get him into jeans and a T-shirt. The car came to a stop and first his guardian got out then the door was opened for him so that he could get out and he could only stare.
There were... there had to be a million pumpkins! No, no there were more then that! His eyes got huge as he took a couple steps forward toward the field where the things seemed to have taken over and gasped, "A-Ah... look at all of them!" He said in a rush, giving his guardian a surprised look before he was turning back to the pumpkins, "How many can we have?"
The woman adjusted her purse on her shoulder before giving a little chuckle, "Well, lets start exploring and then we will decide how many and how big we want them, alright?" She said, out door activities weren't normally her thing but she would deal with them to get her boy out of the house which he seriously needed.

It was as they made their way past a group of people, all headed for the pumpkins as well, that Kabocha noticed something. A smell... a very sweet smell! It smelled like... he paused, trying to place it. Well, it was something very sweet, anyways.
Curious, he went looking for the source of the smell, eventually finding himself staring at a boy in jeans and a t-shirt, though this boy looked just as uncomfortable in them as Kabocha was in his own play clothes. "Hi," the boy muttered, suddenly shy. But this boy was the source of the smell. Such a good smell.

Ai gave a smile as someone appeared in front of him and he perked up, "Hello." He greeted the other boy in a shy manner then gazed at him with wide eyes. As per usual when running across others like himself, or males in general that he found attractive, the Wedding Pocky boy was struck down with a crush on that person. His cheeks colored a little as he took in Kabocha's features and color, "I-I'm Ai!" He said, introducing himself in a rush.
From where she was standing Vanleia, guardian of Ai, starred at her boy before giving a groan. She was used to this reaction out of him. It made her worry if they would even be able to get a pumpkin if he was going to be doing googly eyes over everyone they ran across.

"I'm Kabocha." The boy grinned a bit. "You like pumpkins too?" Pumpkins were very neat. They were round and orange and, well, he was from a pumpkin flavored pocky, or so he was told. He didn't remember being a piece of candy...
The boy looked around for a moment, but it seemed that his guardian had not noticed him slipping off and had not followed. Oh well, he'd find him again soon.

Ai looked around at all of the orange vegetables of various shapes, sizes, and shades before he gave a smile and a nod, "Y-Yes, I think I do." He murmured before smiling at Kabocha, "We a-are getting one to m-make into a..." He paused as he tried to recall the name of the thing they were making, "Jack O' Lantern."
It seemed like a fun idea to him though the process that was explained on how one was made sounded a bit more messy then Ai was used to getting, "She said you can make them into pie to but she can't bake." He motioned over to his guardian and gave her a smile. She was a kind woman but she didn't seem all that good at the motherly sorts of activities.
All of Ai's attention was back on his new crush in a moment and he was gazing happily at Kabocha, cheeks flushed slightly.

Kabocha nodded. "We're painting some! And Daddy said they made pies too, but he said it was easier to just make it from the canned stuff." He wondered if his dad would make one of the pies so he could try it. The man had said that it was best with whipped cream on top.

Ai found himself quite interested by that idea, "Painting them?" He asked, sounding quite curious. The idea of painting on a pumpkin sounded as though it could be a lot of fun. He perked up even more as the thought of the pies being 'easier' when made from the 'canned stuff'. He was going to have to see about seeking out the 'canned stuff' then so that they would be able to have the pie that pumpkins turned into.
"I am curious to see what a pumpkin tastes like when you make it into pie." He murmured thoughtfully, then found himself wondering if one could eat the vegetable raw.

Kabocha nodded. "Daddy said lots of people carve them, but we're painting them instead. He said it was less messy." Which was a definite plus in this boy's book. While many boys would love to get messy, the pumpkin boy hated messing up his clothes.
"Me too," he commented, thinking about how an orange pie would taste. "Maybe they'll have some here?" He knew there was a stand selling food and drinks. Maybe they had pumpkin pie!

Ai's gaze went to the one of the many pumpkins in the area before he gave it a little nudge with his toe, "They are messy?" He asked, sounding a little unsure about what he thought of that. They didn't look all that much like they were going to be a mess from the outside but that they were carving into them he could see how it would be just that, "Maybe... maybe I will follow your example and just paint mine. Thank you for the idea, Kabocha."
His gaze turned from starring at pumpkin to looking toward Kabocha and his eyes went big, "Oh, they might? We should get some after we pick out our pumpkins!" He said in an excited voice, forgetting for a moment that he was traveling with his guardian and Kabocha was with his own escort, instead in his mind the two of them should be hanging out together.

Kabocha shrugged. "That's what Daddy said." Sometimes, though, he wondered if his father said that to get him to do something else. It wasn't exactly a secret that Kabocha preferred to keep his clothes (and self) clean.
The pumpkin boy grinned. "Yeah!" He was sure his guardian wouldn't mind forking over some money for pie. After all, there was that magical piece of plastic the man used. It let you buy all kinds of things!

Ai trusted the word of his new friend's father, that pumpkins were a messy vegetable so he wasn't going to risk messing around with one of them or what was on the inside of them either. It was going to be pumpkin painting for him that was for certain. He gave a bright smile as he lifted a hand and held it out to Kabocha, offering to hold hands with his new friend while they went in search of pumpkins and the pies that were made from them.
"Come on, lets go on a search for the perfect pumpkins!" He chirped, sounding delighted.

Kabocha grinned, looking at Ai's hand for a moment before taking it in his own. "Yes! The most perfect, largest pumpkins ever!" Because bigger was always better, of course. "And then pie," he added. Couldn't forget about the pie!

Ai nodded rapidly in agreement, yes the perfect pumpkins were out there in this field some where and they were just waiting to be found! He gave an eager sound and then stepped closer to the one that he was holding hands with, "Yes, lets find the pumpkins and the pie." He said, happily starting out. As he walked along he found himself pausing whenever they reach potential pumpkins that were possibly the 'perfect' ones they were searching for.
Behind the pair was Vanleia who was rolling her eyes and shaking her head as she found herself completely forgotten despite the fact that she was the one with the money that would be buying the pumpkins and pies... ah well she though to herself before following along after the boys with a smile alighting her lips. She had to keep an eye on Ai after all, make sure he didn't get into any trouble with his new friend. She would do so from afar though, so he would have fun.

It was the great pumpkin search! Kabocha was sure that they would find the bestest pumpkins out here. He slowed to look at some as they walked about, but found something wrong with each. That one had a spot on it. That one was funny shaped. That one was too fat while this one was too skinny...
"Look at what I found!" Kabocha glanced up as he heard his brother's voice. Nate was lugging a rather large pumpkin, but the pocky boy could already see that this one was not perfect. It had a few marks on it from what he could see. Apparently his brother had gone for size more than anything. "It's the biggest one I saw!" Nate proclaimed, confirming his brother's guess.
