Mili waited outside in line at Les Chaussures where they were having a midnight opening in celebration for the release of the new Christian Louboutin line of shoes. It was 11:37 PM, only 23 minutes until they opened up the doors. The excitement was building as privileged women from all over Destiny City gathered to be among the first to own the new hot shoes for the season.

There were all sorts of conversations of small talk going on in the crowd. Some women talked about their current shoe collections, others bragged about how much of an allowance their husbands gave them. Mili was the youngest girl there, and really had nothing to talk about with the other women. She would hate to brag about how much Father gives her to spend, and then have one of those gold diggers knocking on his door to take it all away.

She sighed and waited.

Danika had decided to start her nightly rounds a bit early tonight after having read the newspaper to find some sort of popular fashion bit being held at a ridiculous hour of the night. She sighed, figuring that mass gatherings in the dark made for scrumptious bait, whether that be the purse stealing kind or the slobbering-roaring kind, the latter of which she hadn't actually encountered in quite some time.

She didn't want to risk being seen in her senshi fuku unless necessary, so Danika strolled the streets bundled up in her jacket. The moon was rising higher in the sky, midnight now at its door. Danika heard the fangirl squeals as she turned the corner, watching the army in high heels ready to crash down the store doors. She spotted a nice little cove on the other side that she could lurk in, but as she sidled around the line to reach it she bumped into one of the line goers.

"Ah, pardon--Mili?" She blinked in surprise, not having expected to see the other girl so late at night.

Mili staggered a little as someone rammed into her, "Oof... Oh, hey Danika".

She looked her up and down. At school it was hard to tell who was a fashion aficionado and who wasn't due to the uniform dress code, but once students were in their day to day wardrobe, it because apparent. Danika did not look like the fashion type to her.

A confused look spread across her face, "what are you doing out so late?"

As the crowd mingled and because more restless with each passing moment, the yoma crouched in the shadows behind a dumpster that was at a restaurant on the other side of the street. It basked in the negative energy that the greedy women gave off, and it became more anxious for a taste. A bit of drool ran out of it's mouth and hit the pavement with a slow hiss, leaving a dent where it was.

Danika bristled defensively but quickly pulled any indication of having been insulted out of her voice, "Perhaps the same reason as you? I know I don't look much, but shoes aren't.. bad." She didn't consider herself unfashionable, she just didn't care to have to keep to the top of the lines either. The girl preferred simple, elegant clothing to all that new jargon.

"Besides, if ever I met a shoe fanatic, this is a good way to scout out holiday presents." She added, watching the throng of women with an almost bemused smirk. That's when she got the chill down her spine.

What was that? It rang a vague, distant bell, that creeping dark feeling that clawed with invisible cold hands. Negative energy.. youma? Her eyes narrowed, and she turned to her companion, "I think I've seen enough though, I'll be heading home." She waved and ran off, not giving Mili the time to respond.

Flitting down the alley way, the ominous shadow could be seen shifting paths, had any of the women actually noticed. Danika followed it, then stopped when she was behind the building and out of the sight of others. Where was it? She kept silent, trying to get a feel for where it might pounce.

Mili watched Danika run off. She looked at the shoe store, then back at Danika, then to the shoe store again. There was some bad mojo in the city, and she knew she couldn't just let a girl go off into the darkness where she would be an easy target.

She mumbled barely audibly and to no one in particular, "A night off would be nice..." With that, Mili took off running after her, leaving the shoe store behind, and losing her place in line. It would have to wait until another day.

Upon breaking from the pack of women, and into the street, she could feel the negative force now. She was new at this whole sailor soldier thing, and didn't always pick up on it unless she was focused. She stopped and looked around for Danika, trying to find where she went because she couldn't find her anywhere. She called out, "Hey! Danika where did you go?"

Although clearly Mili was looking for the wrong thing, because she didn't even notice the strong dark force lurking around her, drawing in. She made her way into an alley, because that seems to be where most of these things hide. Hopefully her acquaintance hadn't decided to take a short cut home.

Danika saw the shifting shadows, the hair on the back of her neck rising. When was the last time she had met an actual youma? She looked around, ready to transform when she heard her name called out.

Hissing under her breath, she turned on her heel and spotted Mili in the distance. Should she try and dart away to lose her? No, the youma was lurking somewhere around the corner and the chance that he would go after Mili instead of following her was too great.

Before she could call out to Mili to show where she was (and ideally lead her back out), the shadow of the youma fell across the street.

Danika wouldn't risk her sailor scout form being discovered, but she couldn't let Mili be the menu for the night either. She prepared to break out into a full sprint if the other girl didn't run away.

It stood before Mili, his jaw large and gaping. Danika suspected that he couldn't close his mouth even if he wanted to, the way his mishappen teeth garred to and fro. Watching the steam rise from the ground, she made a note to avoid his saliva. Its skin was flaking like dead scales, massive arms longer than any body should have to put up with. To sum it up: Not good.

Suddenly, the monster was before her. It was a hulking, slobbering mess. It very well could have been the worst looking youma she had encountered yet. Possibly the worst smelling too. What was that stuff dripping from it's mouth? Gross!

She broke her stare away from it, and glanced around. Danika was nowhere to be seen, and it must have hit midnight, because all the women were pushing and shoving to get into the shoe store. In other words, the coast was clear.

"Alright monster, you have no idea who you're dealing with here," Mili said with a large and devious smile, "Never. Ever. Ever. Get between a woman and her shoes." She took her purse and and whacked the monster in the face as hard as she could. The purse began to melt and give off black smoke. She threw it on the ground and stomped on it, trying to put it out like you would a fire, but it wasn't working.

Mili quickly reached into it and grabbed her henshin pen before that got recked by the monster too. It was time to get serious.

"Walküre power, make up!" she shouted and held the pen high in the air. Magically, her clothes disappeared, and her sailor uniform replaced them with a display of lights and sparkles. After spinning around, she ended fully transformed and striking a pose.

"I, Sailor Walküre, the chooser of the slain, and the buyer of fine shoes, will make you pay for that purse, monster!"

Oh my.

Danika watched with wide eyes as the other girl bathed herself in a stream of glowing light, wrapping around her as she connected to her power source. Mili.. was a senshi? The shock of it reverberrated throughout her whole body. She always knew there were other senshi, but this was her first time meeting one. First time discovering someone she knew was one.

From behind, she saw the creature's back arch. It had been momentarily startled by the sudden light show, but now it was preparing for something, like taking a deep breath and-- "Mili look out!"

The creature swung his body forward, mouth open as he shot out a glorious spitball.

"Huh?" was the only word she could get out of her mouth as her head spun around to see Danika hiding in the alley. The spitball caught her in the side of the face, and it burned like nothing she had felt before.

She suddenly knew what her purse felt like.

She took several steps back both hands struggling to wipe as much of the vile mucous off as she could. Walküre opened up her eye that hadn't been splashed, and saw the monster heading for the easier target.

It had taken a bit to click in her head, but it finally hit her. Danika had called her "Mili" and she wasn't really "Mili" right now. Oh s**t. She was really reckless and had now been found out.

There was no time to worry about that though, and she yelled at the monster, "Hey ugly! Why don't you finish the job over here?" Dumb idea, and she knew it, but she couldn't let an innocent person with no way to defend themselves get hurt.

Sailor Walküre ran at the youma with one eye squinting in pain and the other full of rage. When she was upon it, she gave it a strong uppercut to the jaw, and hoped that it knocked some of those gnarled teeth out.

Danika was surprised to watch the senshi bulldoze up and punch the youma square in the jaw. She looked none too pleased about getting an attack to the face, though Danika briefly wondered if it was her fault for calling out her name. Grabbing a conveniently abandoned metal pipe (and by abandoned, she meant a loose railing to a stairway that she wiggled off and stole just now), Danika ran up behind the monster, who was still swaying from the senshi's fist.

The youma looked angered, pained, and particularly hungry. Dark eyes scanned over his body, the scales looking like they might offer protection from her crude, make shift weapon. She wasn't about to transform unless she absolutely had to.

Was it unfair that she knew of Mili's identity, but not the other way around? Perhaps, but Danika couldn't bring herself to throw away years of hard earned secrecy, and really she didn't know the other girl all that well.

Ah, there! At the base of his skull, where the spine of the neck met the cerebellum, the scales were smaller, almost skin-like. He had rose a large arm to take a swipe at the senshi, so Danika took the opportunity to strike him there.

Fortunately it hurt him. A lot. She was pretty sure the roaring confirmed that. Unfortunately, she didn't hit him hard enough.

The monster turned away from Walküre and looked at the attacker that had hurt it a lot more. It was Danika. In the street. With the Lead Pipe.

"Thanks for the distraction, but you really should get out of here!" Now that it was pained and weakened, this was the time to strike. Light glowed from her clenched fists and poised feet as she called out her main attack, "Glorious Battle!"

Sailor Walküre's limbs became a blur as the hastily punched and kicked the youma in as many painful places as possible. It released a drawn out guttural, gargling hiss as it fell to the ground writhing in agony until finally, it disintegrated into black nothingness.

Short of breath and tired, but very proud of herself, she stood there trying to regather her thoughts. Okay, so Danika knew her identity; it couldn't be that bad. She seemed like a nice enough girl, but was the a nice girl who could keep secrets?

Then again, Mili didn't really know her, so there would be no reason for Danika to keep her identity hidden.

Well, now would be as good a time as any to try to become better acquainted. She smiled through the pain of her wounds, "so, um, are you alright?"

Danika was impressed by the sheer speed and strength of the other senshi's attack. She stepped up to the blackened soot on the ground, nudging a small black lump that was left. It's heart, perhaps? If they had such things.

She looked up at Mili.. Sailor Walkure, and realized it might be rather awkward for the other girl to have been discovered. Mentally chastizing herself for letting her know she had witnessed the transformation, Danika gave a small smile, "I am, thank you. Your face.. we need to get you to a first aid kit."

What should she say? Feign ignorance? Faint from the ordeal and claim forgetfulness? "So uh, how long have you been a.." how did the tabloids put it again? She thought 'terrorist' was the word, but she didn't want to scare the girl off with such a strong, negative connotation, "A vigilante?"

Sailor Walküre blinked and squinted at Danika, "yeah, I could use a first aid kit. I can't go to a hospital or anything like that dressed like this though, because if the police see me, they'll arrest me." Well, this was kind of awkward. It wasn't proper for Crystal girls to get in trouble with the law, and she didn't want to put the other girl at risk for being seen with her.

She ducked into the alleyway, "hey, turn around for a second; I need to de-transform." She waved a hand over herself, and the fuku disappeared, and was replaced by the clothes she had been wearing. It was convenient that way, but she still didn't want to risk being seen naked. One never knew when this senshi magic would decide to glitch and leave her clothingless.

She stepped back out, face red with both pain and embarrassment. "I haven't been a 'vigilante' for very long at all now. I am still getting used to it. Do happen to have medical supplies back at your dorm room? Despite my line of work, I still haven't stocked up on them."

Danika politely turned away as the other girl's transformation slipped away. It didn't strike her as odd as she might have thought it would; after all, she herself transformed in privacy. Perhaps if they got used to one another's scenes it might have felt less invasive. But for now, Danika kept her eyes away.

"I always keep a first aid kit in my room. Better safe than sorry, my parents would say." She nodded, waving her hand to show which way she was going to walk. Best stick to the shadows for now, lest someone see the damage to Mili's purse and face. The two girls managed to slip unnoticed into the dorms, and Danika pulled out the white box with the blaring red plus sign on the front. With deft fingers she pulled out the salve, guaze and bandages and began to gingerly dab it on the other girl's cheek.

It wouldn't scar, she knew, for the senshi form gave a lot of extra protection even to bared skin due to the power flow, but it certainly wouldn't feel pleasant next morning either, "It'll probably be tender for a day or two." Danika paused, then let her curiosity take lead, "You're new at this, you said? How'd it all come about for you?"

The salve stung as it hit Mili's cheek. She let out a soft hiss with each contact. More and more she was liking the idea of just taking the day off tomorrow and resting. Not that she need a reason to skip out on responsibility.

"I'm not sure you'd believe me if I told you how this all came about..." she trailed off as she thought about everything that had already happened this night, "but given the circumstances, I guess anything is plausible.

There was this cat. It wasn't an ordinary cat; it was a talking cat. I still can't believe that a cat talked to me. It told me that I was special, and that I was destined to help save the world from destruction. Then it looked at me, and in it's gaze I felt power, a deep power coursing through me. It was something that was always there, but I hadn't felt it until that moment.

The rest of it all went from there. It didn't give me an instruction manual or anything, just told me that I'd 'feel what to do'. So that's what I've done, used my instinct and my wits to keep me alive so far."

She looked at Danika, searching her eyes for approval.
