Okay. Me and a good friend of mine have run into a snag
Originally, we were planning to take a lot of people, close friends of ours, to go to the Fanime convention in California, cause it's the closest thing we can drive to. Furthermore, we were planning on getting everyone to go as part of an airship crew. We designated a captain, a gunner, Navigator and a medic. We have like, five more people that need a position or they will be sad. Any suggestions?

Well, you need an Engineer, to keep the engine runnin'. A few more gunners wouldn't hurt. A cook, mayhaps?

I thought about a chef once. It was funny.
Great suggestions!
And we're also trying to come up with a name. Just to make it official.

So far as names go (I am assuming you mean the name of the airship and not of the crew members themselves), I might suggest the Seventh Sanctum Name Generators. At the bottom of the linked page is a generator for ship names.

Everybody! Love! and Peace!
Helmsman, quartermaster, master-at-arms, steward, dentist (everyone needs dentists!), first mate, bosun, telegrapher (if that's the title? Like radio operator, but for a telegraph) , cabin boy, chaplain, redshirt ninja and on and on...
Stoker is a good idea!
You could always make some of the other people gunners or ratings or something and have someone else put in charge of them. Like.. A gunner's mate or something? Iunno, but yes, that sounds like a great idea!
What kind of airship uniform might you be wearing? Nautilus type gear?

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm running them all by everybody right now!
As for uniforms, we have none yet. we're in the conception stage right now, but believe me, it will be great! We're all trying to figure out. Most likely we'll just throw outfits together and say "we're done!"

Everybody! Love! and Peace!
Found a fairly swish picture from back in the days when everything was in black and white! There were a few more from the modern age where people have had the same idea as you, but they don't so much look like nice, cheerful airship crewmen, as henchmen for someone's death fortress.
But here's the slightly more appropriate black and white one instead! Obviously airship-men liked to drink back in those days. biggrin

Boatswain (bos'n) - This position may be compared to the modern chief petty officer. A ship of any size would require the boatswain to oversee several junior officers who would share his responsibility for the crew's morale and work efficiency as well as the maintenance and repair of the hull, rigging, lines, cables, sails, and anchors.
