Being proud of being gay is... moronic. I'm not saying it's something to be ashamed of, but seriously. Pride? About something you were born to be?
Bah. People these days.
And seriously, if they want acceptance, then they need to stop acting like it's something special. I mean really, if I walked down the street with a "Straight Pride" badge, people would look at me like I'm high as a ******** kite.
If something is normal then there's no point taking express pride in it. I mean, since when have people said "I'm proud to be human, hurr".
That's all.
EDIT: A necessary clarification. While I find the parades excessive, I'm not against them. I'm not against community activities within the LGBT. What this rant is directed towards is those oh so up-themselves homosexuals, in particular on GaiaOnline and other internet sites, who have the nerve to tell me to "GET OVER IT".
I have already accepted homosexuality, thank you very much.

Wow I never thought of it that way...
And your right.
I'm gay but I won't need to show my pride anymore because its stupid
YAY ME!
But if people want to show their pride then let's let 'em show their "gay pride"
P.S I still think Gay marriage should be legalized

what about all the gay people who are nervous about accepting their sexual preference?
i think all of the "gay pride" business is mostly for them, so that they can be proud while a lot of homophobic straight people make them feel ashamed.

Maybe it's because so many people have been taught that being gay is something to be ashamed of. And the antidote to that is to stick up for yourself and proclaim to the world that you're happy with the way you are.
At least that's what I would guess.

I personally think there needs be a more passive approach to the matter. Rather than waving a rainbow flag, say, it's better to just let them know that it's not something to be ashamed of.

That's a good reason why it happens, but I cannot help but feel that it's counter productive. Nobody ever got accepted by flaunting their differences. ( I think? )

This also makes me think of ethnic festivals and the like. Should we also tell people not to be proud because their ancestors were Greek/Irish/Italian/whatever?
I feel that this would be a bad idea. Because you can get some really freaking good food at ethnic festivals.

You don't hold ethnic festivals in your own country, since then, it's a holiday. Yet doing it in ANOTHER country because your greatgreatgreat grandparents were British defeats the purpose, because then, I wouldn't consider you British, you're American. At least that's the way I see it.

Of course the the colors to gay pride still are rainbowish
But teenagers have to be aware that coming out of the closet might be dangerous as shown in some cases kids were killed because of it and others suicide because of it
I still can't understand people being bisexual or straight only because I don't feel anything with women and I don't mean it sexually

That said, I do maintain that black history month is pretty retarded. I mean, can we truly say that they're ever going to be equal, if we need to specifically set aside a month for their history. I think this idea is best explained by Morgan Freeman on Youtube though :3

Pride. It's one of the seven deadly sins. What fun.
Yeah, I agree. Though..... Such things are born to ward off discrimination. It is.... Shall we say a storm? Storms rage until the imbalance that caused them cease. Gay pride parades will remain so long as there is homophobia. Ethnic parades will continue so long as there is racism.
Think of the parade as a player. And the situation that caused them as the game. Don't hate the player, hate the game. ninja
I'm done with my senseless ramble.
