There are some children in life that just seem to attract bullying. Tarusen was one such. A small, awkward child, he never had much luck making friends, and usual found himself the target of verbal and physical attacks from the larger, more aggressive boys in Telgar.
Weyrbrat that he was Tarusen never really was sure who his parents were. And, as children are wont to do, especially when they feel out of place or unwanted, he decided to shoot high. It had to be the Weyrleader. It just had to be. And if his father was the Weyrleader, well, it followed that he was going to impress a bronze of his own, and become a Weyrleader in turn, someday. Then, no one would pick on him. Then, he would have the power.
With this 'noble' goal in mind Tarusen set about reinventing himself in the image of what he thought a Weyrleader should be. He observed people, learned how to be personable, how to be liked. He pushed himself harder at physical tasks, until he was able to defend himself in a fight. Hitting puberty helped there, as well.
And then, one sun-drenched day after perhaps too much wrestling and general exertion, his best friend kissed him, and ruined everything. Because bronzes didn't pick men that did that. Everyone knew it. Tarusen's immediate reaction was to kiss back. His slightly less immediate reaction was to beat his once friend up, and proceed to do everything in his power to never see, let alone speak to him again. He avoided making 'best friends' after that.
He indulged himself in girls. He knew the right things to say, or he could usually figure them out. He could flirt, he could seduce, and he got a reputation as a skilled and considerate, if not particularly passionate partner. Surely, enough girls, and he'd start to want them. Surely, enough girls, and he wouldn't ever think of the other possibility, and no one would know, and the dragons wouldn't know, and he would be Weyrleader, one day.
Appearance: Tarusen considers himself a good looking guy. He's tall, and if he isn't as broad-shouldered or obviously muscular as he'd like to be, there at least isn't any hint of fat on him. He's lean and sun-bronzed, with blond highlights in his otherwise brown hair.
His face is long, with nice, if not stunning features. Blue eyes, lashes that are bit longer and darker than he'd like. Thin lips that he can turn up into a very charming smile. At least, he's pretty sure it's charming. He's practiced it with that intent.
Personality: Most people don't know Tarusen well enough to say what he's really like. On the surface he's the all around 'good guy'. He doesn't talk down to people, he has a compliment for everyone, and he seems to take a genuine interest when others are talking. And that's usually enough for him to avoid being on the bad side of most.
Still, anyone who knows him for more than half a turn or so will begin to realize that other than surface, there's nothing there. Tarusen doesn't share secrets. He doesn't invite intimacy. He doesn't seek friendships that exist beyond a casual greeting or, if the girl is deemed attractive, a casual lay. He doesn't have goals or dreams that he mentions. He doesn't appear to get angry, but he doesn't appear to get more than mildly happy, either.
Seething beneath that surface is a quick, ambitious and analytical mind. Tarusen doesn't see people as potential friends so much as potential allies. He analyzes, tries to find the best way to approach, forms a casual bond, and leaves it there for when he needs it. He's the first to offer to do a favor because he wants everyone to owe him favors, to rely on him, to think of him first when they think of the word 'dependable'.

It looks good. Just one question, though. You mention "more aggressive boys in High Reaches" Weyr, but the title puts him in Telgar Weyr.
I didn't see anything about moving to Telgar Weyr in his history. If you could clarify his location, I'd be happy to approve him!
