Bells were rung on the first day to symbolize that war had come. They rang out clearly seven times. Together the people of Erion lifted their heads and listened to the bells toll. Their enemy was coming.

The fate of Erion rested on the backs of the men and women of that land. Their leader was no more than a young princess and her infant brother who had been left behind by their parents, the king and queen, when they had fled from the war only to be killed by their own defected soldiers.

Despite the odds the princess of Erion rose up and took control over her kingdom. And, despite Erion's long bloody history that was filled with wrong doing and murder, she managed to give her people hope. Hope of a new kingdom after the war and hope of a better life as soon as the enemy kingdom Mei'q Valuk was driven out.

And for six years the people lent their young princess their strength. They all fought valiantly- as did she- to drive out their invaders and take back the land that they considered their home.

And then the bells shattered.

Despite their strong will, despite their bloodshed, despite their hope... the Mei'q Valuk army finally broke down the gates that surrounded Erion's capital city and stormed in. It wasn't long before the castle was taken. And their princess stood, waiting for her kingdom's enemy to come, sword in hand. As they ran through the castle and entered each room she waited in the throne room. And then she was never seen again.

Erion has been defeated. Mei'q Valuk has forced control over much of Erion's territory and many within Erion have surrendered out of fear of what would happen to them if they fought back. Even so the hope that their deceased princess instilled within them has not been smothered entirely.

It has only been a week since the defeat of Erion and chaos still brews. The people of Erion may be defeated but they are not broken. And there are whispers that the princess of Erion may not be as dead as the Mei'q Valuk army says she is...

Kingdoms of Ageon:

Map of Erion (Purple marks the Princess' current location.)

Erion: Erion has had a long history of being violent, cruel, and backstabbing. In recent years however Erion has made a turn from its usual ways due to its princess. Their princess also carried Erion through six years. In the end Erion lost the war and its princess but many people of this kingdom are still prepared to revolt against Mei'q Valuk. It occupies the northeast. It's northern parts are known for experiencing heavy winters and even in the southern most areas at least an inch of snow falls.

Mei’q Valuk: Quite often, this kingdom has served as Erion’s main enemies. Many wars have been fought between the two. Mei’q Valuk is a kingdom in the west far from Erion, but this has not stopped them from often striking war with them. Mei’q Valuk is renowned for their powerful navy and for finding the most salt water pearls.

Rivvil: Rivvil sits besides Erion on a geological map to the north- or at least used to. The kingdom of Rivvil was once proud and tall, up until a war between it, Mei’q Valuk and Erion several hundreds of years ago. Mei’q Valuk and Erion survived, but Rivvil did not. The land of Rivvil is now underneath the domain of Erion but it is still completely unoccupied due to people disappearing whenever they pass through its borders. Only those who are considered to be suicidal go there and people always give it a wide berth when passing anywhere near the forbidden lands. No animals or even plants have ever been seen in Rivvil after the war.

Verin: Verin is in the south-east, more so to the south. Verin has normally stayed out of conflict with the other kingdoms. It’s always been the smallest in size but has an army to boost. Usually, Verin has been known for its silk and various other materials. Verin, compared to the rest, is the merchant kingdom. Verin has managed to stay out of conflict at most times due to the fact that the other kingdoms rely on Verin for trading.

Corabis: Corabis is wedged between Mei’q Valuk and Verin. Corabis is mostly about fishing and filled primarily with wet-footed elves. It’s made mostly of marshes, swamps and rivers. Its army is isn't particularly impressive but Corabis is mostly left alone since its land is mostly undesirable to the other kingdoms. Corabis does, however, produce the most fresh water pearls. It’s a secret known only amongst Corabis natives. They can also find salt water pearls, and while they can’t find as many as Mei’q Valuk can theirs is always of the top quality.

Races:

Any original races are here.

Seumur Elven Race: The Seumur elves were self-exiled many thousands of years ago. No one alive remembers anything about them and except for the most book-learned mage, no one has even heard about them. In any of the old-tombs, very little, if anything, is mentioned about them. They are said to be a future-seeing race and took to living underground for fear of what the world was coming to.

As all elves, they are inhumanly strong, though even stronger than the surface world races. They are also inhumanly fast, their speeds reaching that of a vampire's. They are often mistaken for them by the surface world races, but they are a more ancient race then the Vampires. Or any other known race for that matter. It is said that they are direct descendants from the God's themselves.

They have paper white skin for having lived beneath ground, out of the reach of the sun for so many years. Their eyes have been bleached of color as well, except for their pupils which are only seen as mere pin pricks of color. Their hair is the exact opposite. It is a void-like black in color, as if it takes in all the light around it, much as a black-hole. Their ears are slightly different then a regular elves. Their ears have three points instead of just a single point at the top. The ears of a Seumur elf are also about half-again the length of a regular elf.

They all have a second humanoid form. Be it canine, feline, amphibian, avian, or any other type. Some are much like werewolves in their second form. Others are like a weretiger. Still others are like a race of lizard like creatures and some just appear to be winged-elves in their second form.

The magic they possess is triggered by an ancient language that has faded from the memory of any surface race. The secrets are passed down from mother and father to daughter and son. To pass the secrets of the language on to another race is the equivalent of a felony and harsh judgment, sometimes resulting in death, with be exacted upon the person who "spilled the beans".

In regards to race you are free to make your own. Just include a description of the race with your profile.

As for age I'm allowing some age extension but I'm extremely picky about having people who are over a hundred years old in an RP so be sure to be careful when making someone who's over a hundred years of age.

Background History

This area is to help people to understand how Erion and Mei'q Valuk work and some basic information that will help them to play their characters better.

First is an explanation of how the people of Erion view their princess:

The general public see Princess Lilith as a strong but warm and caring leader. Their princess has gained popularity by making the class levels evener and has also made the lives of low class peasants easier. Princess Lilith is a change from her ancestors, whom gave Erion its reputation for abusing their populace.

Top Erion generals and others who work directly with Princess Lilith have a different image of their princess compared to the general public. They are exposed to her brutal and blunt ways of doing things, and her very aggressive manner of doing her work. Very few of the generals or anyone who works directly with Lilith like her as a person, but they carry a very deep respect for their princess due to what she has accomplished while ruling and her prowess.

Second is the differences between genders. Women in Erion, before Lilith's rise to power, were put lower on the chain than their male counterparts. Although some sexism still exists, the addition of women on the battlefield and in new positions of power have pushed them forward and allowed them to have a more even relationship with men. Much of this trouble stemmed from women's reluctance to take up power. However, due to the war, there has been a need for more people working in and out of the military. This has forced more women to come out of their more submissive roles within the house.

Third we have the relationship between Mei'q Valuk and Erion. Very often, Erion has played the villain of history in the eyes of textbooks and storytellers. Their ambition has led them to conquer and colonize different lands, which has allowed them to become much larger. At one point in history Erion became very close to an empire and controlled most of the continent. Due to their massive size, they eventually began to lose control, and after a series of bloody civil wars many conquered nations and people took their lands back. Erion is known to frequently mistreat or overtax their own people during times of economic crisis. The kingdom is ruled by a patriarchal monarchy. Only in very rare times has a woman stepped up to take control of the throne. This occurs only when the future king is too young to rule or there is no other heir. Even then, a council will usually take power before a woman does. The council acts as an advising group to the king. The council has the power to override decisions by the king, but happens very, very rarely, as the weight of power on the monarchy's side far outweighs the council's.

Mei'q Valuk has often served as the hero against Erion. It has often stepped in to offer aid and protection to countries who are suffering, both in and out of war. Many times Mei'q Valuk has served as the strongest enemy of Erion in wars. The Mei'q Valuk are known for their preference for peace over war, save for when dealing with their nemesis Erion. It is led by a monarchy that keeps its power in check by a council, who may- but rarely- override the decisions of their ruler. It is not uncommon for the king or queen in power to have multiple partners in marriage. The children not conceived as the monarch's first child are usually sent out to act as generals for the army or governors for different parts of the country.

Fourth we have some traditions from each country. Some of these ideas have been fleshed out by the members within the RP.

For Erion, the monarch is given a crown and a sword when they take up power. The sword's origins are cloaked mostly in legends, due to its old age and the difficulty of finding any legitimate documents from the period many scholars guess it was created. The most popular story is the sword is made of an extremely light, unbreakable metal fallen from the sun. When it fell from the heavens, master blacksmiths forged it inside of a volcano. Upon its completion, it was given to the first hero of Erion who became the first king. The sword's hilt bears the emblem of the bright star and is said to shine brilliantly when touched by the light of the sun.

The crown given to the new ruler is rarely the same crown their predecessors wore. When a new ruler comes into power, a new crown is forged for them. The new crown is meant to be representation of their wearer. The crowns of previous rulers are kept in a place supposedly only known by the ruling monarchy. Occasionally, old crowns are melted down to forge the next. In these times, only the most skilled artisans are hired to replicate or draw the original so that its form will never be lost to future generations. Sometimes, when the ruler has accomplished something monumental or the opinion of the majority claim they have changed considerably since they took up power, a new crown will be crafted for them.

Mei'q Valuk have carried their crowns from generation to generation. Only when these crowns have been lost are they replaced, and it is considered a grave tragedy whenever this happens. Some people say each stone within the crowns carry the souls of the previous rulers to help guide the current monarchy during times of crisis.

The weapons each king or queen have carried are usually not the same. It is not unusual for a weapon or armor to passed down from parent to child, but once these items have reached a ripe age, they are retired and put away for display. Many of these items have been hung in the throne room or decorate the monarchy's personal chambers.

The Mei'q Valuk consider it a tradition for men to wear their hair in a small rat tail. Although it is not a tradition in Erion, it is said the current princess has never cut her hair. Some of her people have begun to do the same in honor to her.

The white lights spun. She could see them flying passed her like they would have if they were snow. Twirling and dancing with one another and constantly switching partners. She watched them go by, speeding off as if if they didn't dance fast enough they would somehow fade away.

Then the white lights came rushing at her all at once. She was blinded for a split second and then she was in a room. She sat up and blinked at the figure who was sitting at the bottom of her feet. It was Serenice, perched on the edge of the bed in a beam of light. The light framed her hair and she looked as if she was glowing. But underneath her cheeks Lilith could see the black crawling and scratching. She reached out and grabbed either side of Serenice's face and pulled. The vampire's expression didn't even flinch as she tore apart like paper. Her body exploded into syrian rues and scattered across the floor just as the door opened. As Lilith turned to look to see who it was someone behind her shrieked.

Lilith's eyes opened with a start and she was immediately overcome with a feeling of dread. Where it was coming from she didn't know- all that she knew was that something felt horribly wrong. She slowly brought her hand up and pressed it against her forehead. Then she sat up, looking around the room with an unclear expression. There was more missing than her castle and room.

"Where am I...?"

Pomme was in the main room which was at the same time kitchen, dinning room and living room. She was wearing an apron and seemed annoyed.
"I did not sign up to become a maid!" she spoke to herself while cleaning up some plates.
As she heard the voice of the Princess, she rushed to the bedroom. The short bubbly woman had nothing of bubbly in her eyes when she looked at the Princess, she was all worry. "How do you feel?" she asked, wiping her wet hands on her apron and without answering Lilith's question. She sat on a chair next to the bed which obviously has been used during the long sleep of the Princess.

While waiting for an answer, Pomme took a glass of fresh water which was on the side table and handed it to the young woman. "Drink a little." she said gently. She could imagine the headache the Princess would wake up with and was getting ready for questions, some of which she had answers to, and some she did not.

Lilith turned her head as she heard someone enter the room. Within the midst of the unfamiliar territory a familiar face appeared. While Lilith wasn't particularly close or fond of Pomme any face that she knew was a wanted one. The relief that appeared on her face was only there for a second and was soon hidden away as more pressing questions arose. She opened her mouth to speak but was cut off as a cup of water was passed to her. The moment it was in her hand she found that she was, in fact, very thirty. She didn't even hear Pomme tell her to drink as she was too busy drinking the water. She drank it quickly but without spilling a single drop. When the water was gone she handed the cup back to Pomme.

"More water," she ordered as she pressed her hand against her forehead and clamped her eyes shut. She had the worst headache. It felt as if someone had smacked her on the back of the head.

"Where am I?" Lilith asked again as she pulled her hand away from her face. "This is certainly not anywhere within my castle." She looked around the room before turning in her spot and setting her feet on the floor. Then, a moment later, she spoke up again: "Where am I?" She asked more urgently as she stood up. "Where is my sword?" 'I thought I was in my throne room with my soldiers- Serenice and-'

The princess's eyes widened as she turned around and looked out at the suddenly empty room. "Where is Serenice?" She hadn't disappeared- she couldn't disappear. But why couldn't she sense her?

Pomme looked at the Princess drinking and when she asked for more water, the red hair woman stood up and left from the kitchen, without answering to any of the Princess' s question. After noises and curses escaped from the kitchen and the sound of water came to Lilith's ears, Pomme reappeared with a pitcher of water. She slowly filled up the glass and gave it back to Lilith.

Then she sat and sighed, she knew that she would have to answer.
"You are ... in the countryside. Miles away from the castle."

She paused and looked at the young woman sitting on her bed. She would have to be even stronger than she had been before.
"Your sword is luckily under your bed." She kneed and retrieved a long object wrapped in a long clothe. She gently put it on Lilith's laps.

Pomme did not sit back and she walked to the window and gazed outside. It was about mid-day and the bright sun was casting a warm light on the fields and surrounded woods. Nothing seemed to show the real darkness which was spreading over the kingdom.

"Serenice is no where to be found." and because bad news never came alone, she added. "Falconer is to be executed." The red hair woman clenched her fists. And I am here...doing babysitting... But she would follow Serenice's last orders, no matter what.

PostPosted: Sun Oct 25, 2009 7:08 am

Serenice had managed to escape and crawl in the sewers. She had passed out of blood lost in a rat infested and stinking corner, but anything was better than the jails. I would have to feed tonight... she sighed, as much as the idea revolted her, she felt weaker than she had never before. Her wounds were almost all closed and healing, but she had lost enough blood to drain any humain.

An opening in the ceiling was letting some light filter. It was about the middle of the day she deducted and she could hear the footsteps of merchants and citizens. Once in a while the heavier in rhythm footstep of soldiers made her even more immobile. She was listening, gathering information from the passants' discussion.

Man 1: They say in three days there will be a public execution.

Man 2: Who? Do you know?

Man 1 stayed silence.

Serenice was listening attentively. A public execution? that meant someone important had been capture. The Princess? She almost popped out of the sewer to shake the man until he spoke. But that would have been stupid.

Woman 1: I know.

Serenice was all ears.

Man 2: Who?

The woman came closer to them, standing now next to the opening. She spoke in a whisper but Serenice heard.
Woman 1: Falconer is the name.

Serenice almost sighed of relief, it was not the Princess.

Man 1: What? Are you sure woman?

Woman 1: I know for sure. I met the servant who's feeding the prisonner. You know how they become talkative with the right amount of wine.

Man 2: Oh, I recognize you. Bert from the Fat Pig Tavern?
He laughed.

Man 1: Well, that's not good news.
He sighed and walked away.

Serenice dared a pick at the woman. As fat as the pig sign on the Tavern front.

The man and woman walked away and Serenice stayed where she was.
Falconer? Her eyes had widened at the name. One of the rare ones who had stayed by the Princess's side until the end. She had seen him fight one. Impressive for a human she remembered. She thought about it for a moment.

Was his life worth hers? If yes, she would try. She had three days & nights to act. If no, she would go to the Princess. She had until the night to decide. She would not be able to move until then anyway.

Pomme's answer hadn't come fast enough. When the words finally left the girl's lips the princess felt as if she'd been waiting for hours for just a single sound to leave her lips.

"You are ... in the countryside. Miles away from the castle. Your sword is luckily under your bed."

With too slow movements Pomme reached underneath the bed and took out Lilith's clothe wrapped sword. She set the sword on Lilith's lap before rising up to the window.
"Serenice is no where to be found.... Falconer is to be executed."

Lilith was already out of the room before Pomme had reached the middle part of the first sentence. Her sword was in her hand as she paced around in the other room and then came back. A moment later the sword that was in her hand had been stabbed strait into the floor. "What do you mean I'm in the countryside? Why am I not in my castle!?" Her eyes narrowed and if Lilith had been a mage magic surely would have been crackling in the air around her. Although she didn't need magic to show how much she was seething. "What happened? This is the wrong damn place! I am not supposed to be here!" She may as well have been screaming at this point, her voice had already cracked multiple times. Her hands were tightened into fists and she looked as though she was on the verge of tears.

"What is the state of my kingdom? Why am I not with them?" Her words were coming out from gritted teeth and rage now. "And do not hold anything from me Pomme or may the gods forbid I lose my temper!"

"Rise and shine"

A customary kick to the bruised side, enticing a grunt of pain before the prisoner awoke, bleary eyes staring back at cold and calculated ones.

"...am I dead?" He croaked out. "Cause if I am, I have to say, you're one ugly Grim Reaper."

Another swift kick, before a mangy bowl of food was dropped, spilling most of its contents over the dust and grime infested floor, followed by bowl of murky brown water.

"Its good to know the prisoners of war get such a high-class treatment." Falconer sat up, heavy chains shaking as he moved, before he scooped up a chunk of the white paste with a slice of hard bread, smacking his lips as he chewed.

"Oh, I must say, you've out done yourself today. Never before has your s**t tasted so good!"

The servant sneered, lifting up his lantern to get a better look of the prisoner. Scars covered his body- showing whip marks, cuts, so called "fatal" stabbings and what looked like an attempt to hack off the man's arm- along with evidence of magic strikes. Amazingly enough, judging by the level of healing most of his wounds had been treated with, over half the damages had occurred BEFORE he was sent here.

"You don't have much longer." The servant spat. "Three days tough guy, and then its off with your head, before all of the Kingdom. What will they do then...their princess AND their war hero both killed! A kingdom broken, a kingdom shattered! You, who have thought-"

"Look, as much as your psychotic babble interests me, you're interrupting my meal." Falconer made a "shooing" motion with his hand. "So, if you wouldn't mind, please piss off."

The servant's expression darkened.

"Oh you're mad at me? Understandable, I guess. If I were in your position, I'd be doing the same as yourself, I must sadly confess. Only difference would be when I'm doing it, I'm gloating to other soldiers, you know people of my level. When you do it, you're attempting to outpower someone whose far above you. A sad pathetic worm attempting to rear its ugly head to the world. Stay on the ground worm, where you're safe and more importantly, where you belong."

Falconer smirked, popping the rest of the bread into his mouth before draining away the water.

"So what next big man? Torture? Oh please please say yes! How I love it, I spend my nights just aching, aching for that feel of whip, burning against my back! Or that beautifully unique sensation of drowning. Or hell, being pulled apart, feeling your entire body stretch and stretch and stretch. Oh my, I'm getting flushed just thinking about it."

Laughing at the freaked out expression on the servants face, Falconer leaned back against the wall where he was chained too and released a sigh of relief when the man left.

He was amazed he was still lasting. For the past fortnight or so, he had battled er..."wits" with this servant, living through endless torture and some of the poorest prison food he had ever experienced in his life as a soldier. To think, that it was just the thought of one girl, who was barely of adult age that was what motivated him.

'Gods that sounded wrong.' Princess Lilith...something something of the Kingdom, the one hope for her people in these dark times. Like most people in face of the news of her supposed death, Falconer held onto hope that the young girl still lived on. Rumours were nothing more than just words, and it wouldn't be till Falconer saw the body himself that he would believe the girl- no, woman had died.

"As long as she lives, we fight on" He whispered, a small smile on his lips. "Its a shame I won't live long enough to see the day she returns to her crown...A shame indeed."

All he could do now...was wait.

Pomme did not have the speed or the reflex of Serenice but she would have been fast enough to prevent Lilith from rushing out of the room if she had wanted. Pomme stayed silent and slow in front of the emotions she could see on Lilith. When the sword jabbed the floor, she slowly walked to it and took it gently, then she wrapped it carefully in its clothes and hide it back under the bed. Then only she turned to Lilith and she locked her eyes in the younger woman's.

Pomme grabbed the shoulder and the Princess and pushed her forward in the main room and to the closest chair. Once Lilith was sitting, Pomme stayed standing in front of her, her hands still on the young woman's shoulder and her eyes in hers.
"You are not with them because if you were to die, the kingdom would die." She was not the type of being mean or anything but she had to make Lilith understand. The kid had to grow up quickly.
"People have died and will die to save your life. You will have to live with it. You are their Princess. They believe in you. So don't do anything reckless like running to the castle by yourself...or else they would all have sacrificed their lives in vain. You hear me?!"
Her fingers clenched on Lilith's shoulder and her jaws muscles were appearing.

Pomme stepped back and sighed. "You need to eat." She walked towards the kitchen corner and prepared some breakfast/lunch. Eggs and bacon. Soon the nice smell of food was floating in the room. While it finished cooking, she dressed the table. Pomme was casting side looks at Lilith waiting for a reaction which she knew would come sooner or later.
