Who: Kyou, Alex, Lazarus & Zul
When: Late afternoon/early evening
Where: Lab 305
Weather: Cool and darkening, a haze lending to the atmosphere of All Hallows Eve...

Please note this RP takes place on Halloween, 2008.

She loved this time of year. The crisp smell of faded leaves and the cool chill breeze that filled her lungs left a smile on the woman's face. She could even deal with the masses of children running around in costumes and carrying bucket loads of candy with their parents in tow. It made her think fondly of her last Halloween, which was quite possible the most fun Alex had had in years.

The Italian had no such plans this year, which was just as well, as she received a rather unexpected phone call from Kyou - he was out of the hospital, thank goodness, and needed her assistance down at the Lab. Thus, she had found herself parked a short ways down in the business district of Gambino, a bag in one hand and the other in the pocket of her small black hoodie (which, to be seasonal, she had stickers of glow-in-the-dark pumpkins and skeletons plastered all over it), a large smile on her face as she walked towards her part-time job. Her hair was curled in a tail that wasn't clipped as usual, just bound in a neat loop, a dark blue tank top beneath her hoodie barely visable beneath the garment. She passed a Shaggy with a German Shepherd dressed as Scooby Doo, a Darth Vader, a Johnny Gambino (she laughed at that) and a Pink Ranger. Gone were the days of Princesses and Pirates, Witches and Demons, she thought to herself. Everything was commercialized now, but they sure made it look cute.

She quickly found herself on the steps to her workplace, giving a quick glance to the orange-mooned sky before she let herself in. Unzipping her hoodie, she put the bag on the reception desk and removed the light garment, folding it over her arm before picking the bag up and continuing down the hallway towards Kyou's office. "Kyou? Laz? I brought a snack!" she called merrily, rattling the bag as if that might draw out the elusive boss and his charge.

Despite being discharged from the hospital, Kyou's hands are still wrapped in a thin layer of bandages. No water, no scratching, no rubbing and no heavy lifting work, says his doctor. He still had to return to the hospital once every two days though to change the bandages. Today, the bandages on his hands are clean and new. However, with the doctor's restrictions, and in hopes of his hands healing faster, Kyou had been sitting in front of the TV all day, taking a break from his work. Lazarus seemed to be doing well without him.

The crocodile just caught a pink flamingo on Discovery Channel when he heard a voice coming from downstairs. It was a good thing that he kept the living room door wide open, in case people come looking for him. Kyou got up and headed to the stairs. Judging from where the voice originated from - probably somewhere close to the stairs, it could only mean a handful of people. No one else is actually allowed beyond the doors at the lobby except for a selected few. As he descend the stairs, his guess was right.

"Alex! You're finally here." he beamed. "And you brought snacks!"

Lazarus was in the laboratory doing the usual work that Kyou normally does - checking and double checking the tanks, keeping records of growth and cleaning up when necessary. He usually work alone, but today there was an observer in the laboratory. A newborn Raevan was floating near a glass cabinet. He seemed to be looking at the equipments inside, but somehow Lazarus could feel that the Raevan was staring at him occasionally. Lazarus knew well how this newborn came about, he was created with the baphomet soul Jeremy risked his life to catch a while back. Jeremy is still recovering in the hospital though, Lazarus assumed that this Raevan was going to be handed to him. The young Frei gave Laz an unsettling feeling, he doesn't like his sharp, bright blue eyes.

Lazarus heard a female voice just as he was taking record of one of the more recent specimens. Quickly scribbling the details on the board, he headed towards the doors. He opened them just as Kyou greeted the young dark-haired woman. He know the woman, her name is Alex and she worked in Chloe's position at the reception. Although she is far different from Chloe, Lazarus thought as he checked Alex out quietly. His eyes quickly lifted back up though, it was an instant reaction that he had developed lately to avoid conflict with women.

"Hey." he greeted simply.

"I am and I did!" she crowed back gleefully, approaching the doctor as he stepped off the stairs and giving him a grand hug that most normal people didn't give their bosses. Alex rounded off her greeting with a kiss to his cheek before she lifted the bag, one hand dipping into the plastic confines. "I mean, this is snack season," she grinned, fingers brushing over the cool plastic and rustling the bag as she dug around, "and that makes me happy, being a snacker and all. I picked up a pumpkin and apple pie from the bakery down the corner, some 'sque-e-clairs' with these adorable tombstones...ah! Here we are!"

The hand re-emerged with a slice of strawberry cake. "Strawberries aren't in season, but I know how happy it made you in the hospital. Speaking of which." An exciteable Italian was hard to calm down, and Alex was definitely not an exception to the rule. "How are you feeling?" Green eyes flicked down to the man's hands. "Need any help with the bandages or setting up some--oh you know, I should make you dinner before I leave tonight, huh?" Her face brightened at the thought. She'd have to do a check on the supplies, but if they were low, she could run to the supermarket - hell, she had the energy to gallop a few miles right about now. "What do you and--"

She turned at the familiar-but-not-really-familiar voice, giving Lazarus a kind smile. "Laz! I'm sorry, I don't really know your taste in goodies," she apologized, taking a few steps towards him and giving him the same kiss-on-the-cheek greeting. "You'll have to enlighten me so I can start smuggling things in for you." Alex grinned and winked at the Sigel before returning her attention to Kyou. Sure, the woman was beside herself with exuberance at the weather and the good deals on the pastries, but she was called in for business.

"So!" She replaced the strawberry treat in the bag and tapped it, not handing it over; Kyou was injured and she knew where the fridge was. She did, however, make a mental note to make some food for the poor man so he wouldn't live off of junk food and tastes-like-freezer-meals during his television benders. "Dinner plans aside for the moment, what can I help you with on this delightful evening?"

Alex's arrival immediately brightens up the whole atmosphere, Kyou felt like he was more alive than before as the Italian woman hugged him, kissed him and gave him promises of cake. His eyes couldn't help but trailed greedily at the strawberry cake that she took out, feeling himself salivate at the sight. Although the sque-e-clairs, pumpkin and apple pie sounds delicious too. The scientist found himself silently imagining the desserts and picking his choice on which to eat first.

"I'm feeling good, just got these newly bandaged today." he said as he held up his heavily bandaged hands. "Although home-made dinner sounds absolutely delightful, I'm getting a little sick of eating microwaved meals and take outs." Because Lazarus doesn't know how to cook, he only knows how to make coffee and some simple drinks. It is a waste actually, with his fire ability and his immunity to burns, he should totally work the stove. However, the Sigel seemed hell bent on not learning just because he himself doesn't need to eat... yet anyway.

Lazarus exited the laboratory doors at that very moment, speak (or rather, think) of the devil.

A light blush crept up to the Sigel's face at the quick peck on the cheek. Truth to be told, he likes Alex more than Chloe, he found himself thinking that he could get used to this type of greetings. "Thanks for the offer, but... I don't really know what I like." Sad as it may sound, it was true. Lazarus haven't grown a liking to human food yet, due to pass traumatic experiences, or perhaps he just haven't found the stuff that he likes yet. At any rate, he doesn't feel the need to experiment when his body doesn't need to rely on human food to survive now.

Kyou frowned sadly just a little bit when Alex placed the cake back into the bag. I guess there is still time later for desserts. Right now, he has a job to do. "Actually Alex, I have something to give you." The scientist began, unable to hide his excited expression as he grinned giddily. "Please come into the lab with me." Giving the Italian a gentle nudge on the back with his bandaged hand, he urged her to go through the doors that Lazarus just exited.

Taking the hint, Lazarus went to a side and held the doors for Alex to enter.

She inspected the offered hands with scrutiny, giving her nod of approval as Kyou continued on. Alex couldn't help but smile as he accepted her proposal, especially when he echoed her own previous thoughts. It couldn't be healthy for him to live off of those frozen meals! Her eyes turned to Lazarus as the Sigel replied, and it was then that her expression fell. "You don't know?" she repeated, somewhat incredulous. Before the Italian could launch into a tirade of food and how he should make use of that fabulous stomach, Kyou stopped her cold in her tracks.

Something to give? To her?

Green eyes blinked a few times before she looked to the Lab, surprised. The nudge broke her shocked expression into a grin, carefully putting the bag on the ground outside the Lab - it was her own general practice not to bring food in where the work was done - laughing lightly at the insistence. "Okay, okay! I swear, Kyou, if you made a mess in there and it's just for me to clean..." Alex brushed a stray lock of hair out of her eyes before entering into the laboratory, looking left, right, and then dead center. It was there that her eyes locked, her feet ceasing to move; she held her breath unwittingly, everything suddenly silent over the dull roar of blood she could hear in her ears, her vision narrowed to the being in the room.

And then he turned to look at her.

He was gorgeous.

She was different.

The Frei tilted his head to the side, gazing at her in silence with eyes painted from the same brush that swathed the sky. This one looked something like the man with glass over his eyes, but was decidedly female, and the first he'd seen at that; she was softer in places and differently shaped in others, from her lips and eyebrows to the shape of her jaw and line of her neck. He saw it all in one sweeping glance, not lingering on any specific place until he rested his gaze upon her eyes. He didn't know what to make of her; she was hornless, her colors different from the other two and she smelled nice, even from a distance.

Her difference didn't make her less appealing. If anything, it gave birth to his curiosity, and with a smile that mimicked the glass-eyed man, he floated a little closer to her, retaining his silence. The demon could tell he was being appraised, the look on her face rather admiring. He decided, after the looks he'd gotten from the others, that he would accept it, spreading his wings to give her the full show.

The Italian was doing all she could not to gape. His skin was as sun-kissed as her own and out on display for all the world to see, ending at the curve just below his chest. Black fingerless gauntlets and a pointed gorget pulsed with an inner blue light that only illuminated the piercing crystalline gaze that was pinned on her. She noted two tattoos: a black crescent moon on his left forearm below a furred leather band and a white crescent on his right bicep. Thick cream colored hair dipped in sunset orange flamed around not two horns, but three, two edged with traces of burnt ember, the central ablaze in a white light. His long ears were pierced, as were the bone-framed wings that he lifted to rustle.

Alex knew she was staring, but she could not help herself. All the Raevans were unique, she knew, but this one...from the earthen brown of the bottom of his ribbon to the up-most tip of his two-toned hair, he was completely different. Not a single thing about him was like anything she'd seen, her heart doing a strange type of flip-flop, feeling like she should have known who he was.

It was only when he started to grin at her that she realized she'd stared too long, taking a step back and nearly colliding with the open door. She sucked in a deep breath between her parted lips, managing to curve them into a smile at the newborn. "Hey," she greeted him kindly, turning to speak to Kyou again. As such, she didn't see his lips part, the way he wore a considering expression before giving voice to the word in his throat.

"Hello."

The woman froze, her eyes wide as she looked at Kyou like a spooked animal. Turning back to the Frei, she quirked a lop-sided grin that lit her features into amazement. "Wow, you...uh, I'm Alex. Just here for...er, Kyou, help me out here?" Alex again looked to Kyou, a bewildered look that asked for some type of clarification. She'd completely forgotten why she was in the laboratory at all by this point.

The demon's grin grew. What an odd creature! While she looked at the glass-eyed one, he floated closer, his interest piqued.

Yes, despite the circumstances of how the soul was acquired, and the subsequent suffering that the fel essence caused to the scientist, Kyou decided that the resulting Raevan is indeed magnificent. There was a certain air of aristocracy to the Frei that demanded attention, and Kyou was glad that it certainly caught Alex's attention. His grin widen at the Italian's reaction towards the Frei as he watched her expression.

"His name is Zul, short of 'Zulqarnain'. In Arabic it is a name for a great king with many horns." Kyou spoke as he stepped forwards, standing next to Alex. This was the first time he mentioned the name in front of the Frei as well. "Jeremy named him, he also thinks that you should have him. It seems like that old fool had grown a liking to you." he chuckled heartily as he explained. Alex had shown great interest in Raevans since the beginning. Although he knew that taking care of a Raevan is a very big responsibility, he was quite sure that the Italian woman wouldn't mind.

Lazarus quirked an eyebrow at Kyou's statement. So this odd one was for Alex all along? It wasn't for Jeremy? That definitely made more sense, from the beginning Jeremy was only indirectly involved in Kyou's research of the Raevans, providing material and equipments and such, but never directly, never wanting a Raevan of his own. It applies as well in this case.

Looking at Alex's gaping at the Raevan however, made Lazarus felt just a little pang of jealousy. He knew it was stupid, the Frei was for Alex all along and it was only natural that the woman would like him more than anyone else, it symbolizes a good beginning. Furthermore, the Frei is still a newborn for God's sake. But the Sigel just couldn't control how he felt as he eyed the Frei disapprovingly from the side, deciding that he don't like the young male Raevan... yet anyway.

"Zul," she repeated softly, turning to look at the Frei again and giving a little startled jump. He was a bit closer than when she had looked away! Alex gave the tri-horned demon another smile, this one more gentle and sincere. "Jeremy did seem to have--" The words died on her lips, head turning in halting motions to look at Kyou with eyes the size of green tea saucers. Her heart fell through her feet before immediately soaring back up - and out to the newborn. Her newborn.

Her fingers lifted to cover her mouth, eyes no less wide. "Oh," she breathed, the next word full of fondness, "Jeremy. I owe that man a kiss. Or cake. I think he'd like cake better..." The Italian didn't even realize she was rambling, dreamy green eyes finally swiveling back to Zul. Nonsensical words continued to follow, but she was no less aware of them, taking a few steps towards the Frei, closing the distance between them. Alex blinked at Zul, the words finally stopping before a lop-sided, heartfelt smile curved her lips, extending her arms. "It seems only appropriate," she said in a giddy voice, "that you get exposed to the real me as soon as possible. It'll be less jarring."

The demon turned his way this way and that as the female seemed to blubber something that meant nothing at all, though he was rather charmed with her ever-changing smile. Vivid blue eyes watched as she came near, the strange but amusing words, and then her arms were around him. The demon froze, at first, not knowing what to make of the strange gesture, but there was something...warm, about it, something that was completely harmless even though it seemed like she was trying to bind him.

He decided he rather liked it. The touch, the warmth, the feeling of her shirt against his skin. Slowly, uncertainly, his arms lifted in jerky movements, and after rolling his shoulders and repositioning his hands a few times, he returned her embrace with a hesitant one of his own. Her small sound of laughter next to his ear made his lips tug up into a new smile - one that was his own, one that wasn't mimicking of what anyone else had said or done. Yes, he decided...he liked this. He liked her. Being no fool, however, he turned his gaze towards the glass-eyed man, voicing his question as well as he could. "Alix is...Zul's?" The name sounded foreign and strong on his tongue - he liked it, accepting it as his.

But it was Alex that answered him, squeezing the floating body in his arms. "That's right, Zul," she purred his name, finding it more suitable with each passing second, "we belong to each other now. Is that okay?" She pulled back enough to look him in the eye, her pride and excitement warming her expressive smile.

Zul turned his eyes again to the woman - his woman - looking her silently in the eye before his smile grew again. He figured he could take care of her, she was hornless and soft, it couldn't be too hard. "Yes," he returned her purr, his own smoke on the water, tilting his head to the other two males. It seemed they got the short end of the deal - they had to stay here with each other and the sterile rooms, while he got to go with Alex and her gentle smell. At least they understood that he wasn't meant to stay within these walls.

"Yes," he repeated, attention returning to his woman once more.

"Cake and tea." Kyou corrected in reply to Jeremy's preferences. Although he knew his word would have fallen on deaf ears by now as Alex stepped towards the Frei. Taking a step back of his own, he allow more personal space for the new guardian and her new Raevan. For some reason, he was expecting the hug as well, or probably he was not as surprised as Zul about it. This made the scientist chuckled, it was so typical of Alex, and he was sure it is the best way for the Italian woman to introduce herself to the newborn. Kyou smiled broadly as the Frei hugged back, albeit a little awkwardly. It was a good start! He nodded when Zul asked him that question, although it sounded a bit weird, but he get the gist of the meaning nonetheless. Yes, he belongs to Alex, and she belongs to him.

Now that the introduction part is over though, time to move on to the next part. "So..." he began, pausing for a moment to get the duo's attention. The scientist would have clapped his hands at the precise moment, but that would hurt, with their current condition now. "...how about some cake and warm drinks to get warmed up?" Oh yes, his mind is still on the cakes in Alex's bag.

Lazarus frowned at Kyou's back as he floated by the door which is now closed. This man thinks of nothing but sweet food. The Sigel is surprised that he doesn't have diabetes yet. But getting Kyou's notion for a brief afternoon tea, he sighed in defeat. "I'll go prepare the coffee if you want, and some tea for Alex." He didn't wait for an answer though as he exited the doors and headed on straight to the kitchen.

Alex was quite warm. In fact, if not for the Frei's (her Frei's!) body heat, she was certain her excitement would have had her fired up and ready to run miles in no time. She gave the demon another squeeze, turning to reply to Lazarus but the Incubus was already gone. Her lips threatened to dip into a frown, but the occasion would not allow for it, her face instead lighting back up into that childish glee.

"I think you've just ensured cake every week for the rest of the year!" the Italian claimed happily, finally releasing her charge and beaming a smile at him and lowering her hand to take his own. She didn't mind that it took a few moments for him to settle his fingers with hers; he was learning, after all. "I'd like that very much - the tea at the very least. I'd not dare touch the cake I bought for you specifically." The woman was full of cheer, feeling as though her Halloween had suddenly become an early, delightful Christmas.

The demon allowed his hand to be held and even held his woman's in turn, his bare digits lightly feeling over her skin; warm, a little rough in places and with raised, slick skin in others. Zul looked between the two in silent consideration before he released Alex's hand, floating towards Kyou and behind him, through the door. His blue eyes turned up and down the hallway, too late to have spotted where the older male Raevan had gone, and with a disinterested little snort, he lowered his eyes and found the bag set by the door way.

Floating down, he picked it up with the tips of his fingers and peered inside; the scent that wafted out immediately made him sneeze, shaking his tri-horned head and returning to the room enough to press the bag and its unbearably sweet-contents into the doctor's hands. Deciding the outside of the room was filled with vile things that smelled funny, he returned to Alex's side, ignoring her look of amusement and retaking her hand as she laughed. At least she smelled good. "Live where?" he asked with cool indifference, pretending none of the little spectacle had happened.

Grinning widely, Alex pat Zul's hand within her own and smiled. "After some time with Kyou and Lazarus, I'll take you to my - our home," she assured the curious Frei, "and introduce you to your new family."
