Okay, so Marching Season is back and so are our good friends, the Marching Competitions! Here's a place to post your band's competitions and talk about your field show music or expectations for this years season. You know, stuff like "The theme of this years show is..." or "Look for the band whose uniforms are - colored." Have fun guys!

Okay so these are my Band's competitions this year:
~Atascadero Colony Band Festival
~Selma Band Festival
~Moorpark Band Competition
~Le Moor(sp?) Band Competition ---
Post if your going to any of these. If you are going, I'll be in the band with the orange, black, and white/cream colored uniforms. We have huge capes too, so it's hard not to miss us. ^^ We'll also probably be announced as "The band that traveled the farthest this year." *I also play bass two, so if you see us perform, I'll be the one with the second smallest bass drum.

University of Arizona Band Day(Sat. Oct 3(I think) We got a Superior!)
Flowing Wells Festival(not sure of exact name or date. Just know the schoolXD)
Arizona State festival(Thank you abnd day. again, unknown date or school.)
There is a second state for the top 10 bands at the first one, which according to my BD will actually rank the 10 bands that go(i think it was 10) If I amc orrect, it is on Nov. 14, though don't quote me on that
Our show: Aaron Copland (o)Fanfare for the common Man (1)appalacian Springs Episode 1 (2)Appalacian Springs Chorale (3)Hoedown (c)Appalacian Springs Finale

Yeah, Arizona's pretty cool. Well..actually, it's freakin' hot...but cool at the same tome. haha, yeah, and strangely I am heat sensitive, but rarely get cold. So, I get hot(and sunburned) easily, and cold rarely... I like how Arizona has a low natural disaster rate. I mean, we don't have tornadoes, have few faultlines so rare and only light earthquakes, no hurricanes(except a bit of reamins from ones on the coastline) and of course no tsunamisXD But, it is hot. Which is bad for marching. I laugh when someone from a colder area is sweating at 80 degrees, and here, 80 degrees is coldXD Anyway, I like hoedown but not playing it. I especially like it how our band is playing it. We play about 6 measuresXD The pit stole our parts. It is our percussion feature, so we tried to get as much emphasis on the perc as possible, which is a lot. Which means: Visual city! Yay dancing! Except flutes and clarinets still don't get to be on our stages, whileeveryone else is at some point, anbd we have the move of death and Devils Corridor(12 ct mv, 13 ct mv, 13 count holdXD Our BD's name) Though I have yet to see where the rhinocersaur comes inXD A Rhinocesosasaur is one of my BD's names for a rhondejambe(dance move). We learned it at band camp, and our bD couldn't pronounce it. Evverytime he said it, he would give it a weird name that started with R, usually starting with RhinoXD The two I have used were my favsXD And then if you said a name for it without an R, he would get "mad" and refuse to answer your question until you said i 'right" Mad, as in, jokingXD

That's pretty cool. ^^ We have two drum features in our show. Hoe Down and Copland Finale (Which might be an Aaron Copland song...maybe...) My favorite part is the drum break where the bass drums alternate with rim clicks. XD It' sounds so bad a** when you nail it. And the pit has a tendency to do that...but their chill. Their also usually pretty good. Well, for us anyway. But that's because the best member in our band is their leader. Otherwise, their either mediocre or the kids that were on vacation during band camp. Dance breaks are iffy. We tried to put a dance break in our last field show and it was pretty disastrous.

Dance breaks are iffy. We tried to put a dance break in our last field show and it was pretty disastrous. Copland Finale? Strange. The first part of our show, Episode one, is cool, but it is hard. We have visuals everywhere, and lots of old west charactering like moving in character and Trumpets laying down by a bonfire(meanies) We also have horns going off with guard girls, which is funny because two out of three of our horns are girlsXD And then we have weird moves, which are annying even after ust a year of marching band. I hate touch and closes starting with the left foot. It feels weird. And plus the dreaded 4-5. Woodwinds going at a 4-5 step size is notfun. Then afterwords flutes and clarinets have to somehow get into a much slower teppo, going backwards, and with 6+ to 5 step size, the + because I think it is bigger then that. Almost 4-5 actually. I hate large backwards moves. And I thought the woodwind backward follow the leader into a curve for 32 counts thing last year was difficult>.>

Our Band Competitions this year are:

I'm not sure If these are the official names or not << but this is what they call these competitions over at our school (never heard the actual name for State, or if there is even one <<;; )
Um If you're going to any of these look for the band in white black green and blue :] at FBA our school is hosting it so it probably wont be see hard to see us <<;;
Um... << Our show theme this year is Chronicles of Narnia --so late ><-- or 'Journey Into Destiny' as it is officially called ._.

-Vancouver District Band Festival, -Kiwanis Band Festival I think there are a few others, but I'm not that sure >"<.

If you're from Kentucky look for me! I'm in Corbin High's Marching band and we've gotten first place in AA at East Jessamine, Harland, and every competition except for our one two weeks ago. Our theme is Infection and it starts with a soloist crawling around on the feild and stuffs. I paint the 'infection' on her arms. But the guard starts off in brown, the band in black and then infection girl. At the end we are all twitching as the sign of the infection and the guard is wearing red and the band has red plumes. We then rip off our drum major's brown outfit and make it red and then we all twitch off the feild like zombies. You can't miss us!!! Look for me. Just yell Katie Amazing if you see us anywhere and I'll wave! ^_^ Watch us if you wanna!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OotPswDeO-o

@Chiyori: Sweet! I'll see you at Moorpark then. ^^ What colors are you wearing? *Hart is a good band competition. Beware of rain though. It'll getcha. Last year it started raining heavily while a band was playing and the tympani had this awesome water effect. I'm pretty sure the heads busted though.
@Katie: I like your show a lot! It's very unique.
@Wi: HOLY CRAP! I might be doing a Disney Land spring trip around that time! :O I will most certainly be joining in if we go the same week. Disney Land is a legacy in my band.
@L33tMast3r: FOR NARNIAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Actually, after all the drum majors from our first competition got done with their pow-wow about their bands, that's what they yelled. XD I bet that musics awesome though.

P.S.Just got done with the Atascadero Collony Band Festival. We placed second in the parade competition and second in the field show competition. biggrin Our drum major also got second for the field drum major competition. P.S.S FREAKING INGLEWOOD CAME AND PERFORMED!!!! FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-We would have won first in the Drum Line competition and the parade if they hadn't come...them and their freaking national championshipism...but they were cool. Like one big machine. It was a total crowd-pleaser though. Apparently high knees=high scores. [INGLEWOOD DRUM LINE][INGLEWOOD'S EXPOSITION SHOW]
