Sunday had finally rolled around, and that could only mean one thing: it was Babe's playday in the park.
Well, Babe's weekly park visit wasn't the only thing that was happening that day. Skip had planned something else as well; his second visit with Aurora Namid. She was going to meet the two of them there, as he recalled from their first encounter. The thought of seeing her again was exciting. Aurora was a very nice girl - the nicest he had ever met from Crystal Academy. Then again...she was the only girl he had met from Crystal Academy. Aside from him seeing her again, it would give the girl a chance to meet Babe, which was always a good thing. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel always loved meeting new people and making new friends.
"Isn't this exciting, boy," Skip exclaimed to his faithful dog who was walking beside him. After asking, he glanced down at Babe to see that the dog was giving him a look as if to say, "Yep! I can't wait." There was one thing about the park that both the boy and his dog overlooked: the leash law. Dogs had to be on a leash when they were being walked. But that was the thing; Babe didn't need a leash. Skip had trained him from a young age to stay by his side as a puppy, and so far his dog had never steered him wrong. Babe was a good dog - he never caused trouble. Not only that, but they would be playing fetch later. You couldn't exactly play fetch attached to a leash now, could you?
Once in the park, Skip had sat down at his favorite bench in the middle of the grounds. This was the usual spot that he and Babe always went to, and his dog recognized it, too. As soon as his owner had taken his seat on the bench, Babe had curled up next to Skip's feet. It was there that they waited. Every so often, to pass the time, Skip would bend down and give his dog an affectionate scratch behind the ears, to which Babe would wag his tail from side to side gratefully.
Ahhh~ This was the life. Carefree and easy.

-She'd thought long and hard as she'd tried to fall asleep Saturday about just what to wear the next day. It had to be something she could run around in, usually that meant her dancing clothes, but obviously that wasn't really outdoor wear. Soothing the folds of her calf length skirt with a hand, Aurora nodded softly to herself at her choice. A simple soft purple shirt, with pretty pleats to highlight a feminine waist, offsetting a loose and swirly skirt. Even her hair had been given special attention, usual hanging braids instead fastened to the top, leaving braided loops that didn't hang and wouldn't get in the way for the days activity.
As the park neared, the tanned girl began to look around for her new friend, fingers fidgeting to the small paper bag they held.
Everyone with a dog was given a second glance, a smile breaking out when finally she spotted the familar figure. And his dog was so small too! Waving an arm high in the air, in hopes he would notice her, she quickly braced the distance, calling out.- "Hello again Skip!"

He didn't even need to think twice after hearing that voice to know who it was. Aurora had arrived, and by the sound of her voice, she was just as eager to see him as he was to see her. The boy hadn't even bothered to put his sunglasses on today. There would have really been no point, as he probably just would have taken them off again, anyway. Without them on, he saw Aurora wave right away, and waved right back to her.
"Hey, Aurora! It's good to see you again."
Now normally, he would have beckoned her over to come sit with him, but Skip took a different plan of action this time. A sly and playful smirk curled across his lips as he bent down to Babe and produced something from the pocket of his sports coat. It was a plastic, squeaky dog toy - the Cavalier's favorite, no doubt, in the shape of a cheeseburger. As stealthily as he could, he handed the toy to his dog and whispered: "Here, boy. Why don't you go and greet our guest? It will surprise her."
Babe jumped up without missing a beat after that, and dashed on over to meet Aurora. Yay! A new friend for him to play with.

-Met part way by the pup, Aurora crouched down to meet him, legs lost in folds of skirt, as her fingers reached out tentatively for the dog's inspection. Even close, he looked so small compared to the work breeds that her father had owned, and his colors were just beautiful!- "He's so little! How long have you had him?" -She cooed pleasantly to Skip, even as her attention focused on the closer member of the group.
Something was dangling from his mouth, but even still she could see that puppy smile that occured so naturally on a dogs maw, her smile brightening in return, giggling just a bit.- "It's nice to meet you puppy!"

Babe couldn't understand what Aurora was saying, being a dog and all, but that didn't seem to matter. His tail still swooshed from side to side indicative of how it was nice to meet her, too. When she extended a hand out to him, the Cavalier promptly dropped his squeaky toy, sniffed at it, and then proceeded to give it a gentle lick. Oh, yes! She would definitely be his friend. As soon as the introductions were out of the way, the dog's head then dipped down, and he nudged his toy in the girl's direction.
Skip, who was amused by the sight, chuckled gently before answering Aurora's question. "I've had Babe for three years. He's a great dog, and one of my best friends, actually. And by the looks of things, he wants you to throw his cheeseburger. As you can see, this little guy warms right up to people."

-The tips of her fingers wiggled just a little as his tongue tickled the back of her hand, and upon insistance by both boys, she reached out for the 'cheeseburger'. It was a funny toy really, plastic, looking like a detailed version of the real thing. She'd somehow expected a ball of some sort, but it she supposed if she were a dog, she'd probably want something that looked like food too!
Grasping it in one hand, she threw it much like the girl she was, probably a laughable distance for a baseball fan like Skip, but hopefully Babe wouldn't mind. It was the thought that counted right.
Bracing the distance between Skip and herself, as she watched the toy fly and proceed to bounce across the grass, she held out the small paper bag to him lightly.- "I brought a few of the muffins I made this morning for you. Maybe for him too? I'm not certain if dogs can eat pomegranate?"

"And so it begins. Now that you threw it, he'll want you to keep going all day."
Yeeeees~ And there it went! The small dog wasted no time as soon as his beloved toy went flying. Once it was up in the air, Babe was off and running chasing after it. He didn't even seem to notice the shorter distance. So long as his toy was throne, well, that was really all that mattered. The cheeseburger eventually landed a few yards ahead of them with a squeak. Before stopping completely, however, it bounced and gave one final roll. Babe went in for the kill as soon as it stopped, pouncing on the cheeseburger. He picked it up in his maw after that and gave it a shake for good measure. Alright, everything was clear. The burger was dead.
Time to return it back to Aurora. The dog - satisfied with how he retrieved his toy - turned back around and began padding his way back to the humans.
Skip's eyes seemed to brighten at the mention of muffins. That was really nice of her to make them; she didn't have to do that. At the same time, Skip was flattered. He could only imagine how delicious they would be. Anything homemade was the best! They were made with love and care, after all. "Muffins sound great, Aurora! Thank you. And normally, I try not to give Babe human food, but there's always a first time for everything. You're welcome to give him one and see what he thinks about it."
The dog's ears perked up at the mention of the muffins. Food? Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy~

-She couldn't help but giggle a little, between Skip's 'ominious' words and the dog's successful capture. Watching and waiting for Babe's return, she shook her head lightly.- "Oh, are you sure? I wouldn't want to make him sick. I just wasn't sure, I know my dad used to feed his dogs scraps, but I think that had to do with the high fat and calorie counts they needed for herding."
-She didn't know as much about pets and animals as she would have liked to, unfortunately.-

While Aurora chatted with Skip, the Cavalier plopped down next to the girl and began to chew on his toy. There was no use interrupting their conversation when he had all he needed right here. The toy seemed to keep Babe preoccupied enough to where he already seemed to have forgotten about the muffins.
"It'd probably be best not to give him one, then," said the boy with a nod. As he said this, a hand dipped down into the pocket of his sports jacket and fished around for something. A dog treat was produced in his hand a moment later, which he extended out to Aurora.
"You can give him this, though, if you like. Babe loves 'em."

-Nodding, she took the extended treat lightly, turning her attention once again to the pup, who sat near her feet now, chomping away at the toy. Clicking her tongue against the top of her mouth in an attempt to draw his attention, she crouched down with the treat dangling from her finger.
She didn't know if he'd understand or not, but she held the other hand outstreched, a silent trade offered. Though she'd happily give him the treat anyway, it just saved her the trouble of having to scoop up the cheeseburger later.-

The small dog took notice of the noise Aurora made right away, his head jerking up in order to gaze at the treat. There it was! A treat just for him was dangling there. This was all too perfect. Brown orbs shining, Babe crouched down as if he were ready to pounce. Foolish girl - didn't she know he was going to snatch the food away? Well, if she did, she obviously didn't care much!
Babe was off the ground a moment later, mouth clamping around the treat. He had done it! He had gotten the snack! A second after jumping, he landed back on the ground and proceeded to gobble up his spoils. This was his favorite treat, after all, and there was no way he was going to let Aurora, or heaven forbid - Skip - eat it instead.
That dog...he was too adorable. While Babe was distracted by munching on the food Aurora had given him, the Meadowview senior reached down and picked up the toy. "How have you been, Aurora? Is school keeping you busy?" After saying this, when he sure Babe was finished eating, he threw the cheeseburger a good distance away. The cavalier took off running as soon as his toy was airborne, and Skip grinned.
"You know, it's nice having you here with Babe. We don't get company very much."

-His excitement was mirrored in a small approving squeak that escaped the girl as she admired his adorableness, eyes raising to follow the burger as it became airborne once more.-
"I'm happy you invited me." -She agreed politely, soothing the fabric of her skirt as she mused.- "I tend to get wrapped up in work and stuff so often, it can be nice to relax and play a little now and then."
"And making new friends is never a bad thing." -She was surprised actually.. to think that one of her first friends here was a guy. It really... hadn't happened much before thanks to the all girl schools and such. He might not ever become as close a friend as say.... Mili. But Skip seemed really geniunely nice.-
