"Careful there!! Mind the paint!! If that filigree gets dinged or damaged in anyway, I'll have your guts for garters!"

The longshoremen on the quay seemed to know what they were about, but the shouted, yet pleading orders of the Admiral knew no bounds. They rolled their eyes as he brought the ship down and had ran the lead line run through the cleats fore and aft of the 'Aurora~Borealis'. The massive ship settled into it's berth rather snugly, but free of damage.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Admiral Cochrane relieved the helmsman from his duties, which at this point was practically standing about while the Admiral went about his customary practice of landing the ship himself. The old girl was his pride and joy, and no bad events - upon threat of death - would befall her. Going to the rail, Cochrane peered over the side and called out to the longshoremen to secure the gangplank, for his shore-party would be replenishing supplies immediately.

"Mr. Wortley! Report to me, if you please."

The sprightly young man with pimples all over his face that had been standing out of the crews way as they had come into dock now emerged from the shadows and sprinted up the quarter-steps. Saluting his senior officer - which was an honorary custom: the Admiral's rank being only that of self entitlement - he stood at attention.

"Mr. Wortley, I'll have you run the pressgang, if you please. Offer them the Company's shilling first.. out of courtesy. Though, if you haven't the numbers we need by dawn, then I give you my permission to seek out the drunk, debauched and hungry poor that may be fit enough for service aboard the 'Aurora'. Is that clear?"

"Yes, Sir. A-Aye-Aye, Sir..." Studdered the young man. He stood there as the Admiral shifted through the companion box, looking for his sextant, spyglass and the right charts. Cochrane could feel the boys uncomfortably nervous glance. Looking up, he smiled at the boy. "You're dismissed, son.."

Chuckling as Wortley scuttled away to find his chosen men, Cochrane grabbed the necessary tools and then plunged down below decks to his quarters so that he could ready the ship's course for when she'd next be departing for foreign skies. But first.. he thought, the men are paying off today. They'll want their pay. Not to mention, Mr. Wortley won't have what it takes to grab all the crew we'll need. Guess I'll run a roster myself..
