So since we haven't had a really...ON topic thread in a while, I thought I'd attempt one.
This is a place to talk about ball joint dolls. I started collecting them a few years ago and have three now. Anyone else collect them? Anyone else heard of them? If you have questions about them feel free to ask, if you have pictures of yours or ones you want, post 'em!

I don't have a joint doll, and to be honest some of them can be really creepy (chibi ones) but I have seen a lot of the taller dolls and I simply heart them! I love how customizable they are are I would love to have a few for the Loli store.
I wish they weren't so expensive though. 3nodding

Some dolls are creepy looking because they just have creepy molds. Some are creepy because people give them TERRIBLE face ups (make up) and some are creepy because they have super creepy mods. I have two MSD (42 cm) and one tiny. He's...about 2 or 3 inches tall. But not creepy. (I have seen some creepy tinies lol).
Some of the larger dolls (60 cm) are quite lovely. They're too big for me though. I stick to the medium sized ones.

yeah...so I think it's weird. So I keep the pants on. But the funny thing is that the bits are super tiny. Like...they have tiny baby infant peens. They're like little lumps in their crotches. lol
But yeah. Keep the pants on.

Yes~! Those are lovely. I don't personally own them, but I know girls from Poupee Girl who have like anywhere between 1-6 of them. They are kinda creepy, but really beautiful too. I really like their eyes because they are so deep. Plus the clothes really are adorable.

SUGOI! They are all so cute! And I love how Puck is in the strawberry box. I almost wish I had one, but I don't need another thing to spend my money on. crying My wallet will cry for years if I picked up the hobby.

Yeah...You have to have a strong will to be able to survive with a hobby like this. I absolutely will not buy a doll unless I have a few thousand dollars saved up just in case something unexpected and expensive comes up. I try to look at what might come up to see if I can afford a doll. I know friends who spend money on dolls the second they get their paycheck. Not always the best idea.

Dollfie is...I believe a trademark of Volks. Volks was the original company to make these dolls and is the most expensive. They have a store in California which is the USA branch of Volks. All other companies are in Korea or Japan and have no USA branches. BJD is an abriviation of ball joint doll.
Dolls come in a variety of sizes (which were named by Volks. Other companies have different names for the sizes but the sizes are standard)
SD - super dollfie (60 cm)
SD13 - super dollfie 13 (young looking ones. I think 50cm)
MSD - mini super dollfie (42-45cm)
Tiny - this refers to just about every doll 20 cm and under I think)
