It was not more than a few marks from dusk at Telgar Weyr; much of the duties required by the Riders have been taken care of and most had retreated back to their weyrs for a bit of shut-eye while the Night Watch had taken off just after the evening meal.
A few, though, were still out and lingering about. One of those lingering was out soaking in the warm waters of Dragon's Foot Springs, he and his dragon. G'ind could feel himself floating around in a dream-like haze due to the heat and felt himself slip a little bit more into the water until only his nose was above the surface. In the deep waters, completely submerged, was his Chosen. Varoth was far too pleased to have the deep waters to himself and let himself bask as G'ind himself did in the swallows.
Mine... The thought entering his mind caused G'ind to yelp and choke on inhaled water as he flailed around for a moment before regaining his composure.
Varoth! Please! Do NOT do that again! The rider glared at the shadow as the horse-shaped head surface and stared back with green/blue eyes. What's wrong?
Why do you stay in the shallows, Mine? Come, join me out here.

Feylith floated above the lake, lazily examining who was in there. All should be well, Thetis. his voice in the head of his rider was serene. He made a call to alert those below he was coming, and let his heavy body fall towards the surface of the lake, skimming along it to try and splash water on the other rider, calling out a greeting to the other blue dragon.
His partner hurried her feet, coming to the springs confidently. She belonged here, and while her tenseness came from those who mocked female riders, if Feylith said he believed it to be alright... "Greetings." she said simply, setting her towel on the side and dropping what clothing she could. Some was left, from sheer courtesy; then she splashed into the water, heading for the area where Feylith was preparing to enter the lake.
Are you sure it will be alright, love? The dark-skinned woman gave the other dragons and riders a small look from the corner of one bright eye. After the day I've had, my temper is frayed to the bone. The least she wanted was to get into another argument.
Of course. Feylith looked at her, his eyes swirling contentment.

G'ind had just managed to climb onto his dragons' back when a newcomer, another Blue and his rider, came calling. Thankfully, the splash came with warning, yet the young rider made no move to avoid it. Instead, he allowed the wave to hit him; wiping the water from his face, he laughed and waved at the dragon while Varoth bugled a welcoming call of his own to both of them.
The rider of the Blue caught G'ind a little off guard; personally, he was not expecting it to be female! Many of the female riders he had seen during his time were on Greens and Golds; this, however, was not unwelcome. Sliding off his Blue's back and landing with a loud splash, G'ind surfaced and waved to the rider.
"Greetings to you as well!" He carefully swam over to where she was standing before offering his hand to her with a warm smile. "I certainly wasn't expecting to see anyone tonight." One thing was for sure; G'ind was one of the few males who didn't care who rode what. A woman could ride bronze and a male could ride gold for all he cared.
Varoth, on the other hand, was curious about his Kin within the waters of the Spring. I trust you're day has been harsh as well, friend? Many do not come out here at this time normally.

The woman looked caught off-guard by the welcoming hand for a moment before she gave the other rider a warm smile and extended her own hand. The flesh was heavily calloused, the grip firm. "I was hoping I could avoid people." she admitted. "Tethis, and Feylith." she gestured at the wave-colored blue who was currently idly writhing his way towards the water on his back.
Mine likes to dance in the water. Feylith gave the mental equivalent of a shrug in reply to the other dragon. She deserves to relax, and it is good to see her be happy.
It was nice for Tethis to see a man who wasn't immediately put off by her gender; there were so few of them. "Feylith, you'll get horribly dirty and I'll have to bathe you again." she sighed, watching the blue dig deeper into the dirt and writhe faster. "How many times will this be?"
Three. His mind-voice was rich with satisfaction.
She couldn't stop her chuckle, and the loving light that sprang into her eyes. "So, I was thinking about doing some laps. Do you like to swim, or do you just come for a soak?" she turned back to the rider next to her.

"Im hoping Varoth and I haven't bothered you in anyway then." G'ind shook the hand before letting go and taking a step back. The formentioned faded blue had moved from the deeper end of the springs and was lounging in the shallows, a bright green swirling in his eyes. "Today has not been easy for either of us, so..." G'ind grinned and scratched the back of his head. "We pretty much took full advantage of the empty Springs."
While his Chosen was talking, Varoth was eyeing the brown-blue dragon squirming on the bank. He was amused though, it wasn't like the enjoyment of a bath was uncommon among his Kin. You best head into the water, Feylith. Otherside, another Rider may come out of the weyr and mistake you for a Brown.
Listening to his dragons' amused "voice", G'ind chuckled before considering Feylith's question. "Soak for now, to rest these achy bones of mine. But I plan on swimming a little later on. .....What about you? Soak or swim?"

"Not at all!" Tethis hastened to assure the other rider. "I just tend to avoid most people in my relaxation times, as..." her voice trailed off and the smile she gave was wry. She glanced over at Varoth, smiling at the relaxed-looking dragon. "I should say I hope Feylith and I haven't been a bother."
We could never be a bother. He informed his rider, mind-voice loving. And if I am mistaken for a brown... his mind-voice trailed off thoughtfully to the other dragon. Would it be a good day, or bad? Feylith rolled over and wriggled the rest of the way to the water, slipping in with a sigh. He was a large blue, and it was entirely possible that he may have been mistaken for a few moments. He sighed at the warmth, stretching out his body as best he could and filling his lungs with air to let himself float.
"I like swimming first, actually." she admitted. "Odd, but after a hard day getting my exercise out of the way first leaves me better able to relax." It helped that she loved to swim. "Of course, not too relaxed as I still have to give my big blue-brown a washing." she raised her voice a bit, and Feylith gave an audible laugh, the sound coming from low in his throat.
Don't forget to scratch me. I've an itchy shoulder.
The woman smiled again- she did it all too rarely in the presence of other riders- and moved out. She swam fast, obviously an impressive swimmer, and clambered up onto Feylith's body and scratched his shoulder for him. The dragon sighed happily, his head going under the water briefly, bubbles the only indication of where his head was.

Unlike the other Blue Riders, who were probably weary from their day training and doing various other activities, the set that was slowly approaching the water actually had a reason to want to be inside the spring. Both were sore beyond all measure, their time spent from the moment the sun rose until it set working at various tasks assigned to them by the Weyrwoman, and as the Dragon Foot Springs entered their line of sight, a displeased rumble echoed inside the rider's head.
Mine, it looks like others are here. Shall we come back?
L'pin shook his head towards Shamth's request, a smile crossing his exhausted face. He reached over and patted the dusty hide of his lifemate, his hand leaving a clear imprint against the brilliant blue.
No, we need a good soak. I'm pretty sure my muscles are so taunt that I won't be able to move tomorrow, and you're covered with....I'm not really certain what. A good soak for both of us should get your mood in order, and tomorrow we'll go see the Weyrwoman about getting back to where we belong.
The pair continued to walk in vocal silence, save for a few grumbles now and then placed by Shamth, when they finally approached the pair that were already moving about in the water. L'pin admitted to Shamth that he didn't recognize either of them, which wasn't really a surprise, though having Shamth say he didn't know either of them as well was something of a shock.
Really? Neither one?
I care not to.

Slowly Kaya walked towards the water. It had been a long day in the kitchen and relaxing felt like just what she needed. She was about to step in when she noticed the other riders. Two of them appeared to be male and the other was female. She wasn't entirely sure how they would react to her. Since she had Impressed with Rumath many here at Telgar had given her hell for it. It hadn't been easy but she mostly tried to ignore and avoid it.
Mine, there is another female here and she seems to be enjoying herself. I don't think you'll be bothered here. Besides, you know they're only jealous of me.
Kaya carefully observed the other female. Rumath was right as always. She didn't look like anyone was bothering her. Besides, maybe Kaya could get to know her.
You're right. I'm just being silly. Besides, I can't allow everyone to get to me. It's going to happen whether I try to avoid it or not. It just gets hard sometimes.
Having made up her mind, Kaya carefully stepped into the water. It felt good to slide in and relax. The water felt like it washed away all pains of the day, physical and mental. Rumath quickly followed into the water behind her and made her giggle a little when he splashed her on his way in. He always did know how to make her feel better.

The blonde rider looked up at the sight of two others coming for the hot springs on blues. One of them was a young man- she'd seen him and his dragon doing chores, she thought. Often. And the other was a fellow female. "Welcome!" she called to them both, waving from the water.
Feylith also bellowed a greeting, pointedly acknowledging the other who had chosen a female as His with a mental greeting as well. Mine would be pleased to talk to Yours. She is so lonely, sometimes.
He opened his words to the other blue- the one with the man- who had arrived as well. Mine is Tethis. I am Feylith. Aren't the springs lovely? And his huge head sank under the water, happily. And then he tossed it up, sending waves through the springs, and sending his bonded floating away from him. Next to move was his tail, and he did a deliberate spin in the water. He was careful not to make the waves too high; he didn't know how well these others swam, but His was laughing now, playing in his mini-surf, and Her happiness made him happy.
Surely it would make everyone else happy too.

The former miner, too, saw the approaching dragon pairs and waved as he sat on Varoth's shoulders'; Varoth bugled a greeting to both human and dragon as he climbed out of the water with his human onboard.
The easy-goingness of Feylith and Tethis had started to rub off on them for the night, and the need to relax was swiftly giving way to the need to splash around like small children. With a grunt, the large Blue spread his wings and flapped them a few times before taking off to hover over the large body of water.
Mine? What makes you think this will be....."fun", as you call it?
G'ind rubbed his chilly arms before flattening himself against his lifepartner's neck. "Everyone enjoys a little waterworks. And the best way to do that is to do it with a dragon!" He laughed out loud and Varoth gave a pleased rumble; it had been far too long since he had heard his Chosen laugh like that. He roared again as he let a warning reach out to the pair out in the water: Feylith! Tethis! You best clear the way! With that, Varoth dove straight into an unoccupied space of water with a loud splash, send a massive amount of spray flying in several directions.

While Rumath spoke with feylith Kaya carefully grabbed for the end of her long brunette braid and carefully pulled off the string that tied it up. She then worked her fingers through her long hair and allowed to flow freely down her shoulders. Kaya ducked her head under the water wetting her hair as it fanned out around her.
Rumath nodded to the other dragon in agreement. The springs are most definitely lovely tonight. Mine is Kaya and I am called Rumath. He then looked with love upon his rider. He was glad that she could relax for just a little while. The strain of everyday life was hard on both of them. He knew the comments from the men bothered her but she did her best to try to ignore them. Perhaps this female rider, Tethis, could be his Kaya's friend. Perhaps having another female rider around would be good for her.
Kaya surfaced and turned her attention to the other female rider. She knew that, for just a few moments, she could be herself. "Hello!" She called back as she made her way over to her. "I'm Kaya. Who might you be?"
As Kaya was talking with Tethis the blue dragon raised his head out of the water a few feet from her and sprayed her with a mist of water. Kaya let out a little giggle. She forgot all too often how much fun she and Rumath had. She made a mental note not to forget anymore.
Don't worry Kayamine. I won't allow you to forget.

Varoth was diving, Ramoth was spitting, and Feylith was frolicking, and Tethis gave a shriek of glee as the waves and water went everywhere. When G'ind and Varoth rose from the water, she was wiping the water from her face. "That's all? A green could make a bigger splash than that!" her voice was playful.
Feylith trumpeted his agreement, eyes swirling with happiness at his partner's happiness. Tethis turned to Kaya, grinning. "I'm Tethis. That is my Feylith. A pleasure to meet you, Kaya!" then her attention was back on her blue. "Come on, love, let's show those lightweights G'ind and Varoth how a real splash goes."
There was a draconic chuckle from Feylith's direction, and then he sank under the water. No. Riders and dragons alike would hear his voice.
"Aww, why not?"
I don't think they'd appreciate the weyr flooding. His mind-voice was wicked and then he was silent, swimming around the pool with only his eyes and nostrils above the water. There was a small shriek and then a tiny bronze firelizard Tethis hadn't known had followed her was diving for the water by Feylith's head. As it hit the water, there was a decent splash, and Feylith snorted in surprise as liquid shot into his nose.
"Wave!" Tethis cried, giggling.
I guess that's what he thinks about flooding. Feylith said wryly to His and the other dragons, again excluding the other riders.

Kaya giggled as she was sprayed with water by the little firelizard. "I'm sorry. This is Rumath." She pointed to the blue dragon. He reprimanded her slightly for not remembering to introduce him but chuckled at her forgetfulness. If there was one thing Kaya was better at than her cooking, it was forgetting things. But she never forgot anything that was truly important to them.
Slowly the young girl ducked her head under the water and started to swim to a shallower spot. Quickly, Rumath swam past her and she grabbed his tail just before it was gone. She held on tightly as he swam her to the edge of the springs and she enjoyed the ride. The water was warm and it was definitely nice to relax after the long day she had had. It was also a nice surprise seeing all the other riders around here. Especially another female blue rider. That had really made her happy.
Kaya planned to get to know Tethis more, but for now she wanted to soak for a few moments in peace before she made her way back over to the other riders.

So far so good, as L'pin and Shamth had really only been noticed/bothered with on their initial approach. It seemed that none of the other blue riders knew whom they were, for the better or the worse, which allowed the dragon and his rider to slide into a corner of the springs a bit away from the happy-go-lucky crowd.
They all seemed young, to L'pin anyways who probably had a good five years on the oldest, and the sight of two female riders was a bit unusual. Not rare, of course, but unusual since Telgar to his memory treated many of them like a plague. Well, not that he could be any different, since he was often kept to the same regards.
Mine, if you want to go and talk to anyone you're more than welcome to do so.
There's no fun in talking to kids, Shamth. I'm here to soak and relax, not swim around like some kind of fish.
L'pin had removed his shirt by the time he settled in the water, tossing the dusty peice of clothing onto the shores with his boots and work gear. He didn't care if the others thought he was being unsociable, if they wanted his company they should ask him in.

G'ind let go of his lifepartner as the two slid into the dark depths, his smaller lungs crying out for air; Varoth stayed below, eyes whirling a bright green as he watched the little Bronze join their group in the warm waters.
Breaking the surface with a loud gasp, the male rider shook out the water clinging to his face and hair before grinning over at the comment Tethis made. 'Oh really? Perhaps I should flood the Weyr so I can get your approval?" He laughed and swam over to her before spending a splash in her general direction. Having everyone here in the Springs was...fun. It had been far too long since G'ind had really had fun like this, not since before he was Searched.
Meanwhile, Varoth was feeling the mischief spark as well; sliding over to where L'pin was soaking with his Blue under the water, he got close and blew out a mouthful of bubbles at the human before lifting his head above the surface with a chuckle. Perhaps you should have your rider join us. It's much better than sitting by ones self in the background. With that, Varoth slipped under the water again, surfacing again under his Chosen.
The Rider laughed before falling silent, a smile lingering on his face as he glanced at the Weyr walls. "I am kind of surprised no one else has come out yet. I can imagine we're not being that quiet."
