So, I went to the local fair today with my boyfriend. I have never gone there and gone on any rides, I always go for the animal husbandry stuff, and the crafts. My two biggest reasons for going today: The poultry barn and the rabbit(/CAVY!) barn (run by the arba).

First thing we did was the poultry barn. There were chickens, chicks, pheasants, turkeys, ducks, pigeons, and a few types of quail. What I was really hoping to see were some button quail, but alas, they only had American quail species.

Next was the rabbit barn (I know, way to save the best for last, amirite?). Lots and lot of rabbits, as well as a baby bunny room. There was a cavy room behind a glass window with maybe only 10 gps, all for sale. Gorgeous red male abby too.

Then we had lunch, and went to see some pigs, cows, horses, alpaca and llamas. They were very cute.

We went to the bee barn, bought honey sticks and two "make your own beeswax candle" kits (only $1 each! Holy crap!)

After that, we finally went to the petting zoo. I was ripsh*t. They had a blue and gold macaw and a scarlett macaw in these tiny cages and I just wanted to scream! Those animals do not belong alone in little cages surrounded by strange people. I fed and petted an emu, some goats (including a tiny baby one who tried butting the big sheep away with his cute little horns, to no avail), llamas, donkeys, and sheep.

Saw a highdiving show, it was kinda neat. I paid $1 to see the "world largest snake 18 ft long" (the world's largest snake was a 27.5 retic, you can't fool me, bub.) It was a very fat python. But certainly much shorter than Ashley and Kathleen, and they're only 15 ft. apiece.

We got apple cider and apple cider donuts (I live for those), then went back to the poultry barn. I got to hold a chick! I've held button quail chicks before, but never a chicken chick. So soft and fitting into my handable.

Got dinner, and fried ice cream for dessert (my boyfriend had never had it before. I couldn't pass up the chance). Then went to the rabbit barn again and left.

All in all, we were there walking around for 7 hours. I was already not feeling well to begin with, so you can imagine how I feel now. And I may or may not have returned home with a...umm..."souvenir".

Pics of me petting stuff and the scenery later when my boyfriend e-mails them to me.

Awesome. I'm probably not going to the fair this year. I was supposed to go with two of my boyfriend's friends, and they decided to go without me. As for my boyfriend, he HATES the fair. It's too "hickish", as he says. But I live for the honey sticks! I always try to buy 100 or so, so's I can stock up. But they're almost always halfway gone by the time I get home. Yummm, honey.
