Elnara wasn't exactly sure how Idhril had managed to convince her that this was a good idea, but somehow she had, and after days of careful planning for her, Lore, and the twins to visit the Borderlands, they were no longer heading there alone. She only hoped she wouldn't regret agreeing to Idhril's proposal ... she'd heard stories of these two who were going to join them, and none of them had been pleasant.

She only hoped that Celebor would forgive her.

She was waiting with Lore and the twins in the portal room of the Winters manor for Idhril's return from the Seconds' world with two others she had met there: Corrah and Armus.

To say that she was nervous about this would be an understatement. She was terrified. She had never met these two before, and she had heard that they were not at all people persons. She kept a close eye on Garrick and Hana, nearly three years old by this time, so that if something happened when the others appeared, she could grab or defend them easily.

"She said she wouldn't be long," she murmured anxiously to Lore. "Has it been long?"

She was too nervous to pay attention at the moment to the passing of time. Every second felt like an eternity.

While Lore was just as nervous, he was use to being nervous around other people. Especially when those other people were elves. True he had gotten over that, but it didn't mean he didn't remember what the feeling was like. He leaned over and put a reassuring hand on Elnara's arm.

"It hasn't been long," he told her.

Though it could be faster he admitted, he wasn't overly fond of being with these people. They seemed... unforgiving to him, though he didn't know why. Unlike Elnara he hadn't heard of all the stories.

The door to the portal room opened as Kara pushed it open balancing her travel bag on one arm while holding Hope of the two young twins. It seemed like she was not going to able to make it through the door until a hand held it open. That hand was attached to one Donovan, who was holding the other twin Faith. The two were also going to visit the Borderlands.

Kara and her twins were the ones visiting technically, Donovan was willing to go on another hunt, even though Kara was trying to convince to stay for a visit.

It seemed that this was going to be a bit of a three ring circus because Lin was not the only child coming along. Miyu of course had decided to come along, but this time she was bringing Toshiro with her. As far as anyone knew Toshiro's growth was just stunted but he was doing while for a pint sized staff wielding, coffee drinking Second stuck as a child.

The giggling behind them, signaled of course Naida and the twins, who wanted to visit Aliya again. Naida since growing to a child had learned how to walk, but she rather swim... or rather fly. After hearing stories about flying fish, Naida decided she wanted to be one too. Unfortunately this meant a lot of falls harder than Feng and Ryu ever took but she seemed to enjoy herself.

"Are we missing anyone?" Donovan asked sarcastically.

Elnara nodded and put one hand on Lore's, though her eyes were still on the children.

Garrick was chasing Hana around the room, giggling gleefully as they dodged between pillars.

Suddenly, Idhril appeared, and a moment later two figures appeared behind her. One was tall, almost as tall as Lore, and all that was visible of him was a long black hooded robe, an ebony bow, and a broadsword at his waist. The other was a woman with very short blond hair, a black beret, and wearing military tanktop, pants and boots. She looked at Lore and Elnara, then down at the twins, and then back at Lore and Elnara.

"I suppose you are the ones to thank for our opportunity to do some real good?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

The dark one just stared silently.

Lore didn't know what to say, there was just something about the girl that struck him as blunt. The fact her male counterpart was just staring probably didn't help matters much.

Lore replied softly, "Idhril had been talking about the two of you."

That was really the only reason why they were here, because Idhril had spoken for them.

Toshiro was immediately on his guard, sure he was on the short side and probably wouldn't do much damage (though hell he could bite if it came down to it). In his typical cynical self he didn't like either of them.

"What in the hell are they doing here?"

It didn't help that he could feel Miyu quivering beside him.

Miyu was a bundle of nerves, while she had tried to tame that since she gained her internship she was losing it seeing her childhood nightmare. And he was her nightmare, he caused her nightmares for a good while. She edged nervously towards the portal door ready to make a dash for it.

Donovan sighed tilting his head out of the way of the grabbing hands of his daughter, "Elnara...."

Idhril glared at Toshiro. "Be nice!" she frowned at him. "They're not bad."

"Idhril." Corrah's voice was deep and quiet. "Be calm."

Elnara sighed and turned to Donovan. "Idhril met Corrah and Armus in the Seconds World," she started quietly. "She got to talking to them, it seemed to her that they might like a place here, helping out with the ranch and the rescuing. I'm still not sure how she convinced me, but she did."

Corrah nodded, his hood lowering slightly. "Life in Naosho has no interest for us anymore. All we seek is the opportunity to do something useful."

Armus looked as though she wanted to speak, but she looked up at Corrah and sighed, clasping her hands behind her back.

Garrick, ever the adventurer, gave up on chasing his sister and ran up to Corrah. He giggled up at the dark man. "Suilad!" he beamed up at him. "Big!"

Corrah's hood tilted slightly as he looked down at the boy, but no sound came from him.

Toshiro glared back up at Idhril, he didn't give a damn what she thought. She wasn't there to deal with the nightmares, she wasn't there when he hurt his sister and she sure as hell wasn't there to help Miyu through her self esteem problems.

Donovan though was much more pragmatic about the whole thing, the fact they wanted to do something useful was good. Seconds had their own surprises and another human (despite the fact she was a Second) would do the Ranch some good.

He murmured very quietly to Elnara, "I'll bite... but I'll be honest when I say I don't fully trust them to act appropriately."

All the while Miyu was so close to the portal door she was probably ready to bolt through it and run all the way to the safety of Haven.

Elnara shrugged one shoulder. What could she say? She didn't exactly trust them either. "Garrick is usually a pretty good judge of character," she murmured, watching as the boy tried to play with Corrah.

Idhril looked around at everyone. "You're all being silly," she frowned. "They're perfectly nice if you're nice to them."

Armus threw her hands up in the air. "Someone gets it," she said, her tone amazed.

Corrah reached one hand out and put it on Armus's shoulder, quieting her without a word.

"He hurt my daughter," Donovan replied dryly, "He terrified my granddaughter. Idhril, you are a wonderful person but I'm sorry. My first impression isn't good, and unlike I'm proven otherwise it will remain that way. This family comes first."

It was his way of saying without out right saying that he was way over protective. Even Lin would have told him to back off if she had been here.

"And over a simple misunderstanding," Toshiro huffed, "Right Miyu? Miyu?"

He turned his head, and so Miyu was no longer there.

It seemed Miyu could no longer take staying in the same room with Corrah at all. She didn't dislike Corrah or Armus, but it was hard to when you were terrified around one and ashamed to be around the other.

Lore sighed as he looked between his other in-laws and his daughter, it would seem that there was going to be quite the disagreement between the two parties.

"How about we go through the portal before too much time has passed," Lore suggested dipomatically.

While Miyu running off he had a feeling wasn't going to help their case, at least it gave them an excuse to go through.

Elnara was more than happy to comply, and she scooted forward to pick up Garrick so that she could carry him. "Let's go," she murmured.

"I'll see you when you get back," Idhril smiled and waved. "I promised Sehnin we would play games today."

Somehow that didn't make Elnara feel any better, but she nodded and motioned for Corrah and Armus to follow after them. "Come on then." And, Garrick in hand, she darted through the portal.

Deciding to take on his own advice Lore picked up Hana and followed Elnara through the portal. He wished Idhril would come (since inviting the two along was her idea) but he wouldn't want to take her away from her daughter. Not when she promised to play games with her.

Donovan repressed the urge to twitch, while he understood Idhril needed to be with her daughter, this had been her idea. Surely the young woman must have known how much bad blood so to speak there was between the two parties.

He went through anyways ushering Kara along and was pretty sure they would be followed by the rest of their group.

"Considering the time difference," Ryu commented as they stepped into the familiar area of the land, "Miyu has to be at Haven by now."
"Well you have to admit, this has to be the first time she's gone all the way by herself," Feng tried to offer that good point.

There was a light layer of snow on the ground in the Borderlands, and before they went any further Elnara reached into her bag and pulled out cloaks for the twins, herself, and Lore.

"I'm sure she knows where she's going by now," she murmured to Feng and Ryu. "She'll be fine. Besides, Aragost being who he is, he probably was expecting her and waiting to meet her or something."

She glanced at her husband, and then at the newcomers that they had brought with them. "This way," she nodded, and started off through the trees.

Corrah and Armus exchanged a glance. Neither of them had seen snow before, or experienced this sort of cold, but when Corrah lifted a corner of his cloak to offer her some warmth, she shook her head and instead followed after Elnara.
