Caoimhe's birthday party had earned him a reprieve, as it were, where visiting Fa'e HQ was concerned. It had been like a big, fat 'I told you so!' to his guardian. Bad things really did happen with disturbing consistency when a bunch of Fa'e got together...things that led to stuff like Mik almost drowning, thank you very much. Stefan hadn't bothered him once since then - not even today!

The angel had come entirely of his own accord this time, actually hoping to talk to Airi about the whole crazy dream thing, and what exactly she wanted them do now. Trouble was, he didn't really know how to find her, just that she was around here somewhere. Maybe.

Zaoll liked skulking around the headquarters while Elsbeth was house-hunting. It kept her away from Elsbeth, and plus, it meant that she'd have time to find other Fa'e. Of particular interest and note were the four from the dream she'd caused - she hadn't seen anyone, not really, except Elsbeth...

She shook her head and turned the corner out of the kitchen, rolling a glass between her hands. It made an odd noise between the marbles, a shink shink shink sort of sound. Then she glanced up and around, just to check that there was no one for her talk to, and spotted - Hey, that was Orange Wings, from the dream?...

"Oi," she said, staring at him. "You are Orange Wings, from the dream." She paused awkwardly, and then said, "I am very sorry about that. Please allow me to apologize."

That was definitely not Airi, but Zaoll...which was possibly the more awkward option. He had sort of pointed to the wrong maybe-Fa'e as being the one in trouble, and he wasn't too sure how she felt about it. It wasn't like he'd meant it personally, but, well...who knew?

Apparently he didn't need to worry about it, though, because she apologized. After an awkward hesitation, he aid, "It's alright. I'm, uh...Mik, by the way."

He'd prefer it if 'Orange Wings' didn't stick.

"Mik? That's... a nice name. It's short for something, isn't it?" She paused in her rolling of the glass, set it down on the nearest flat surface and fiddled with it for a moment. That was really all she'd had to say, but...

Well, Airi hadn't known much about Gaia, but perhaps Mik did. "Thank you also for the help with the monsters." She straightened her scarf and offered him a hand in greeting. "We were not properly introduced. My name is Zaoll van Helsing -" She paused, somewhat at a loss of words.

"Mikhail," he answered with a nod, shaking her offered hand, "Mikhail Szilagy." Her name was...van Helsing? Seriously? That was a little weird, he wouldn't deny. He left it alone, though. "So, uh...how are you?"

She didn't look hurt or anything, at least as far as he could tell.

She linked her hands in front of her and said, quite politely, "I am unharmed." Then Zaoll glanced around. There really wasn't much to do; she'd been thinking of getting out her laptop to play video games, actually. Now that there was something to talk about, and someone to talk about it to, though. "So... what brings you here?"

Really, she didn't normally talk this much, but it seemed to be an appropriate time to talk. It was, wasn't it?

"That's good," Mik said, a little lamely. As always, conversation was not his strong point, especially with people he didn't really know. "I come by a lot, just to see who's around. I was kind of looking for Airi, but...it's not real important."

"Oh," said Zaoll, fidgeting a little and then spreading her hands. "Well, what is it you do on Gaia? I am from Earth and it already seems rather different here, and my Guardian -" a ripple of dislike passed over her face and she made a vague gesture, one meant to ward off evil "- my Guardian is un persona inutile, very unhelpful in this matter."

It would not do to be too cruel to Elsbeth, because Arri had said she meant no harm, but Zaoll had always been more of one to judge actions than words. Right now, her guardian's actions seemed very untrustworthy.

What did you do on Gaia? It was a good question, actually, and one he didn't really have an answer to. Stefan was right: he needed to find some kind of hobby. Busy trying to come up with an answer, and then trying to place the snippet of foreign language she used (obviously Romance, at least), he almost missed where she was from.

Once it registered, however, he brightened. "I'm from Earth, too!"

Zaoll brightened right away, and noticeably too. He was from Earth? How exciting! Maybe they had something to talk about after all? Even if he was from the States or Britain or something, it was still the same technological era, and the same global situation, there had to be something!

"Are you? Truly? Which part? Are you also from the continent? I am from Italia, but my guardian and I summered in Marseilles."

The continent? That was kind of a weird way to put it, seeign as there were seven, but whatever! "New York," he answered, although he didn't have the accent. His was relatively neutral, thanks to Stefan. "My guardian's from Europe, though - Romania."

This was exciting, albeit a little perplexing. If Conrad had found him, how had he missed Zaoll?
PostPosted: Tue Oct 06, 2009 10:11 pm

"Oh! Is he? Are you? Truly?" She could not believe her luck. "I have been to Romania, but only for an hour." However, as much as she wanted to talk to Mik, it felt somewhat odd to divulge everything to a perfect stranger - even one that had been inside one of her dreams. "Tell me, when did you arrive in Gaia? How did you hide your -" she gestured at his wings, the look on her face words enough. Really, she did have very expressive body language; with such a quiet voice, she had to.

Mikhail nodded in confirmation, before going on to answer her new questions. "It's been almost three years now." As for the other, well... "I didn't go out much," he admitted. "They weren't too hard to hide when I was a kid, but once they got big, there wasn't much I could do. I just had to stay home."

She sighed, possibly in understanding or commiseration. It was hard to hide the fact that you were made of stone, as well; when she tried, she looked something like a hooker, in her own opinion. And that sucked. Fiddling with her scarf, she said, "So you have been here for a while?... How did you come to be here? I didn't know there even was a Gaia until I... made that dream and Airi saved me."

"Airi sent someone to look for the lost Fa'e, because we were in danger. I didn't know before then, either." He frowned, unhappy that Airi had, apparently, stopped for some reason. "I didn't realize she'd...stopped looking." It was downright disturbing, the more he thought about it. How many of them had died since then?
