It was naptime! Zia smiled contently as she lay stretched out on her side in the sun, belly full and her latest addition to the history-stone drying. Along with the berry juice that stained the toes of her front paws. She didn't mind the juice in the least...she could always lick it off later. Or was them in a stream. Hmm...water. She rolled onto her stomach and frowned. She needed water. Naptime would have to be delayed then.

She stood and made her way to the nearest water source she knew of and proceeded to quench her thirst. Why did getting thirsty always have to happen at the weirdest times...

Nekoda:
Naptime for someone always seemed to mean playtime for him. Nekoda'Waya, self-proclaimed explorer of the mountains presently faced off against an unexpected narrow ledge. He'd crossed it just fine as a cub- even as a juvinile, but now it seemed...smaller. And somehow much more intimidating than it had been. Just across the narrow rocky climb was where he'd encountered the giant with wings. No one really believed his stories. Then again, he wasn't the best at explaining things.

He took a deep breath. "Alright... I've done it a million times before- when did my paws get so fat?" He raised a paw and sneered at his short inspection of it. Well at least his claws were bigger.

Once step followed another, inch by painful inch. His smile grew as as he neared the halfway point. Unfortunately for him, the stoney bridge was not nearly as strong as it should have been to support an adult lion. A single 'crack' was all the warning he had. Nekoda glanced down, then up, then found the ledge falling away from him.

"Uh oh! NO NO! N-no! Nonononono!" His claws scrambled and scraped for a hold, only to dislodge more smaller pebbles and bits of dirt. Finally, the lion was sent sliding along with a small wave of debris- right into the small pond below. "NONO!Notwater!ACK!~"

The lion brought his paws up in front of him in some vain attempt to shield himself from the water.

Zia:
The only warning Zia had that something was up was some debris falling into the water, with one piece whacking her on the head. She yelped in surprise and pain, then indigence as the water she HAD been drinking from decided to splash up and soak her front half. The adolescent coughed and blinked, looking none-too-happy. She'd wanted a drink, not a bath!
The source of the water rebelling, she was certain from where he was, was a brown and green lion covered with the tattoos of the pride. She pouted. Well...at least the earth hadn't decided to upset her, like she'd thought at first.
"Uh...how the heck you'd end up there?" He certainly hadn't leaped in...Zia would have noticed that. Maybe...he'd come down with the rock debris? "Fall off the mountain?"

Nekoda:
The corded mane hung heavy around the male's head, neck, shoulders, and eyes. Water dripped and trickled from the thick strands. He hated water...for only two reaons. One- it was wet. Two- it housed the most vile, angry, and dangerous creatues he'd come to meet.

He blew raspberries and slowly lifted a paw to clear the mane from his face. Before he was able to, however, a voice rang out. He didn't exactly hear what was said, just that something had been said.

The male let out a high-pitched shreak, jumped upwards, and began stumbling blindly through the water. "I TASTE BAD! TRUST ME! MAMA'S NOT BATHED ME IN MONTHS!"

Zia:
Zia yelped again and jumped back, blue eyes widening to an almost comic proportion for her face. What the heck?! She frantically looked around, remembering tales of HUGE lions that were far from friendly...Had they somehow found their way into the pride?! Not seeing anyone but herself and the other lion, she blinked.
"Wait what?" She looked back to the lion and raised a brow. "Uh....I'm not gonna eat you. I don't eat other lions. And uh..." She giggled. "Your Mom still bathes you? Aren't you a little old for that?" Her mother had stopped bathing her a few months ago.

Nekoda:
The lion stumbled over himself a few more times until he laid on his back, supported in an akward sit only by one paw. The other stretched out in front of him, waving at the air frantically- as if to fend off an attack. "I knew it! I knew the dragon would come for me again! I saw the look in it-wait lion?"

He brushed the mane away from one eye with his free paw. It took a moment, but he eventually spotted the small female sitting on the bank. With an unconvinced sneer he looked one way then another. Leave it to a dragon to be tricky.

Once he was convinced that he'd - yet again- evaded the water's keeper, the lion tossed his head back, causing an arch of water as the corded locks cleared away from his face, granting him vision again. "Hey you're not a dragon. Don't scare me like that!"

Zia:
Zia squeaked and dodged the water, a laugh soon following. "Of course I'm not a dragon! I'm a lioness! And I certainly didn't mean to scare you!" She trotted forward again. "If I recall right, I was just trying to get some water to drink, when you splooshed into the water!" Despite her annoyance, the words held no malice or anger. "You brought a whole LOT of rocks with ya too."
She sat back and scratched the top of her head in confusion. "How did you manage that? Did you break something up there? Or start a rock slide?" Because lions certainly didn't just have rocks following them. Zia thought, anyways.
"Uh...by the way...what's a dragon?"

Nekoda:
Nekoda's eyes rolled back as he tipped his head. Oh right, how did he fall? He saw the ledge...now crumbled into tiny pebbles that continued to bounce and roll in a very slow, very harmless slide.

"....you know. I probibly could have jumped that now. I'm a big guy now... well for....being the runt."

He looked back and pointed over to the ledge, "I was trying to find the winged giants again! They exist, I saw one when I was little. He helped me. Kind of."

He leaned forward, rolling to his front paws, his feet still sprawled out to either side of him. "Dragons...are the biggest, scariest things ever. One tried to -eat- me."

Zia:
Zia's eyes followed his gaze to the remainder of...wait...Hadn't there been a ledge there yesterday? Well....it was likely the source of all the debris now. This was certainly something to paint later! "That...would have been cool. Less breaking of things would have been involved too..." She chuckled and grinned. "Probably not as fun and exciting though!" Despite the fact she was still half-soaked, she was in a better mood now. He wasn't being all high-pitched, and there weren't rocks falling on her.
"Winged giants?" She was confused again now. "What're they? I've never heard of 'em." Then again...there was a lot she and her sister seemed to have not heard of. The dragon though....
"Hey~....Do all dragons live near water?" Maybe she HAD heard of a dragon....

Nekoda:
"They're amazing." He waved his paw for her to come a little closer. His voice lowered and his eyes widened, "NO one believes me...but I've seen them! Giant lions with wings. He showed up just normal, just a big dark lion with no tatoos! Real big, bigger than a mountain. I saw him. Then I looked away and he was gone. I saw something overhead- and it was him! With wings! I wanna find another one. It'll prove I'm not crazy." He sat himself upright and threw his chest out, "Aaaand cooler than my bum-tight brother."

The dragon comment earned a series of sharp nods, "They do. They hide in the water, then they open their mouths and swallow you-" He snapped his fangs and waved his paws around, "Like that."

Zia:
She leaned in closer to listen, and was surprised by what he said. Zia's eyes widened and her mouth hung open a little. A god?! He'd....seen a GOD?! She'd not been so lucky! "I believe you." Her voice was quieter, full of awe. "You're lucky, you know. I've never met one." She kinda wanted to though. If for no other reason than to paint them.
Yup. She'd seen a dragon before than. "All greeny-brown and scaley?" She leaned down a bit, like a cub getting ready to pounce. "Swimming through the water like a fishy, but has no fins or gills?"

Nekoda:
He'd certainly not been expecting that answer. The lion starred, blinking through the water that still streamed over his face, sponged in by his large, thick corded mane. Yeah he was a bit old for grooming- hence why he'd not been groomed in months. It didn't help that he'd always hated sitting still for baths.

"You believe me?" He grinned, white pointed teeth displayed fully in one of the truest, perhaps even most childish smiles he'd ever shown. "No one's believed me! You must know what it is then! A monster? I bet so."

He nodded to the second question. "Not like a fish... like a log. It just sat there, then SHOOOF!" Apparently 'shooof' was the sound of splashing water. He emphisied his point by throwing his paws up in the air again- along with another splash of water. "You're dead. Teeth, mouth, stomach- dead."

Zia:
Zia giggled and nodded, her reverent mood lifting to make way for her usual one. "I certainly do believe you! I've seen a dragon before! They ARE evil and vicious...but they like BIG water." Though her mother and Kono had called it a 'crocodile'. "And the winged giants...My Papa Kono once called them 'gods'. They're like spirits...only more HERE." She danced a bit, so her paws thumped on the earth.
"They're able to speak to us better, in words we understand with our minds as well as our hearts." Her 'papa' had been such a wise ratel...even if she WAS very grumpy most of the time, because of Zia's nickname for her and how much Vimbizi tended to eat. "I wanna meet one someday. Especially if there's one that's in charge of painting!" She held up one paw, stained with berry juice. "I like painting. Makes me a little sad I can't paint on others anymore...but that's okay!"

Nekoda:
Nekoda's grin slowly faded...she sure talked a lot. Half of what she was saying, in fact, went right over his head. Winged giants, yes, gods- okay that's what they were called, like spirits...blah blah blah blah blah....

"Uh...huh." He nodded slowly. "Hey we can go looking for one!" A distraction! The whole mind and heart, listening to what's around you- she sounded like his old man. "I bet there's one in charge of that. I bet I met the one in charge of being awesome."

Zia:
Zia shrugged. "Sure! That'd be fun!" Nap time could wait a while longer! This was bound to be fun! Besides...what was the harm? She needed to do more exploring anyways! And if they ran into a god...well, all the better! She sniggered. "A god of awesome? Sure~" She almost rolled her eyes...but she managed to refrain from doing that. No way was there a god of awesome. She didn't think the world could survive that.
"So...where shall we begin our search, oh awesome one?" And indulging him wasn't going to hurt anyone, especially not her. Well....not beyond the bump she'd already gotten on her head.
