I helped bring a litter of five kittens to life. The veterinarian I was working with did not have enough people at the time and needed me to help bring the kittens to life. It was so amazing doing that. It was like, breath dammit and right when The Vet was ready to give up on the last one I gently rubbed its back one last time and it coughed. I was so funny. Don't worry all five kittens are just fine. Unfotunately none of them are up for adoption.

To answer all of your questions at once, Yes I did freak out because I had no idea what to do, and they were no bigger then your hand. Afterwards I felt really confident that I wanted to do that as my career.

Aaaaa!!! Squiggle for yous getting to help and SO HAPPY that the kittens are oks. I had a cat give birth to a litter in our gerage before but nothing compairs to seeing NEWborns. I hope they continue being fine and its a good thing they are not up for adoption cuse that means they have a good home already. Squiggle again!!

Thanks ya all. It was comforting knowing that others care about issues like that. The reason I posted this was because that was a happy ending to my first experience like that. My second time it wasn't a happy ending. It was only because the kittens did not have a decent home and they came back to the Vet Clinic with a deadly disease. People need to be educated on how to care for newborn pets, whether through courses or books, they just need to know what they are getting themselves into. Oh and don't hesitate to help homeless pets, you won't regret it, I sure didn't.

W00T! W00T! That's so sweet! Heh heh, kittens are sooo cool! But I like puppies better just because I'm more of a dog person, but I'm still very touched! Congrats and may you continue to bring a little more fur into this world!

That is such a touching and beautiful ending, Chris. I'm glad they all made it, because even when I watch shows like Emergency Vet and they try to do the same thing with puppies, usually one or two don't make it -- especially when they were stuck in the birth canal for too long. Congratulations with the kittens! I bet you feel like a part of the family now, huh?

Congratulations! What a wonderful experience, and it's great that they're all okay.
There's a mother cat with an older kitten that wander through our backyard sometimes. We debated bringing them in, but that would cause major problems. The kitten would be attacked by my cat, it would try to kill our parakeet, niether of them would be litter trained, etc. And I think I saw a tag on the mother's neck today. They have to have owners; they're rather healthy looking, and the mother would be seriously hunting the many birds at our feeders if they were struggling to survive. We leave bowls of water and dry kitten chow out back for them. We debated getting a cat bed for them, but they don't sleep in our yard. They leave in late afternoon/early evening.
