Name: Panata
Age: 15 turns
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Asexual
Craft: Smithcraft - Glasscraft
Rank: Apprentice / Candidate

History: Panata was born as the middle child of three and spent his early years helping his parents with their various duties, his father being a Smithcrafter. A quiet child who followed instruction well, he soon was shown to prosper when it came to crafting and was offered by his father to follow in his footsteps, taking up the art of Glasscraft.

Panata suffered at first among the other Apprentices because of his mild deposition and his rather doormat-like personality, though his skill and determination soon got him recognized by several of his peers and an acceptance into their group. There he learned the important skills of socializing and pranks, a deadly combination when it was time to have fun when everyone had been dismissed, and slowly grew to enjoy his time with others. He gradually opened more out of his shell and proved to be quite talkative, though still mild-mannered and polite.

When Search came to the Hall and Panata was chosen, he gave up his craft with the dream of Impressing and becoming a Rider. He still practices what he has learned, should he find that he never Impress, hopefully being able to come back to the Hall and pick up from where he left off.

Appearance: Small and mousy, Panata stands no more then a little over 5' 3". With a heart shaped face and delicate frame he is often mistaken at first glance for a young woman, but further investigation yields a young man. His skin is fair on his face and arms, though on his hands it is rougher than most hides and is cracked from his time spent grinding as an Apprentice. Panata's arms are slightly muscled for his frame thanks to his work as well, though the rest of his body seems to be underweight.

Panata has dirty-blond hair that browns in the winter, lightens in the summer, and it hangs just above his ears. He usually keeps it short so it stays out of his face when he works, though he has been contemplating growing it longer if he becomes a Rider. His eyes are a soft shade of brown and are quite expressive, showing more of Panata's moods when he trying to be polite in situations he is very excited in or frightened of.

He enjoys wearing clothing that fits will about the chest and legs, though he does not like to wear long sleeves. This comes from his work at the bellows and at the grinder, as sleeves and loose clothing would get in the way and cause trouble for Panata while working. His hygiene is quite neat, as he keeps his appearance as tidy as possible while running around and working.

Personality: By any standard, Panata is polite and very precise in his wording. Friendly and more than willing to lend a hand in any situation, even one with potentially disastrous results, he hopes to become someone that anyone can count on for aid. He has a desire to be wanted and counted on despite his young age and inexperience, a feeling that only increases as turns pass.

Neither a leader nor a follower, the youth does well in groups or by himself, and will take the lead if the need arises and no one else steps up. He is however, a bit clumsy with his leadership skills, leaving him to blame his age/inexperience when things don't turn out exactly as planned. He will settle for 'great', but not always 'good enough'.

Although mostly well-mannered he does have a bit of a devious streak, usually manifesting itself in small pranks that come about when he feels bored or stressed, though said events are rare and usually lead back to him when discovered. The pranks mean no harm and generally cause more humor then upset, depending on whom the prank was played on.

After the recent hatching, Panata seems to have developed a sense of unease, if not at least a small fear, around Blue dragons . . or most dragons in general. His mind tells him everything is alright, but his body is far more honest. How long this will last is unknown, but it is still very clear that Panata wishes to become a dragonrider.

Other: Panata was raised in a rather well to do family, and therefore has impeccable manners. He seldom uses curses or slang, unless startled severely. He has a nasty habit of bowing his head to everyone, though he means it purely out of respect, and has only learned to do it more while being an Apprentice and a Candidate.

Panata also has a Brown firelizard named Meisir, whom he received as a gift for staying in the Crafthall. He treasures the Brown and treats him above himself, raising him with care.

Approved under previous agreement, that the dragon stays this personality and doesn't turn around and fly Queens one day.

Dragon Name: Wilth
Dragon Color: Bronze
Dragon Appearance: In terms of size, Wilth will be a very large Bronze. From the point of his hatching his large size will be something cheered on, though his unfaltering personality will cause quite a bit of disappointment amongst the wyerfolk.

Also due to his personality, Wilth would most likely always be seen with yellow (fearful) eyes. Very seldom, if ever, do they seem to change color, though he occasionally will be seen with blue or green depending on how long he and his have been alone.

Wilth's coloring/markings should be based on a Caramel Albino Python.

Dragon Personality: Often mistaken as an overly large Green who happens to be Bronze in color, Wilth is nothing short of a coward. In fact, calling him an outright coward might actually be rather kind, given that anything and everything will cause the massive Bronze to tremble and whine for his like a fresh dragonet no matter his age. It does not get better as he grows, instead appearing to get worse as the Turns pass and more responsibilities are heaped upon Wilth's shoulders.

Generally useless, he finds most activities terrifying (for himself, not his rider) and tries to avoid having to do anything that would involve him getting the spotlight. When it's time to pick volunteers to perform or run errands, Wilth will practically fall to pieces if he's selected for anything . . . though in the end it will still get done.

Despite all of his protests and obvious fears for doing things Wilth is actually quite good in terms of memorizing locations, a talent that will aid him as he grows in becoming quite accurate with going Between; Wilth can eventually always be counted on to arrive exactly where he needs to be, almost down to the exact spot specified.

He also seemingly has a knack for being quite a loyal friend to those he feels comfortable around. While at first he will trust no one and in fact be terrified of everyone but his rider, he'll slowly come out of his shell and learn to interact with others. While he may not go with them wherever they travel he will still enjoy their company, but it will take a strong dragon to be able to endure the trial on their nerves.

If a situation should become dire, to the point where both he and his rider are in danger, Wilth will become much more fearful for his rider than he is for himself. At those times, usually only when he fears that His will truly become injured if something happens, the Bronze dragon will actually step up and push aside his fears. The moment of power and fearlessness seldom lasts longer than needed and the Bronze quickly returns to his fearful ways, denying that such an event ever occurred. He prefers to be protected rather than protect others, so any occasion where he may have to prove something is severely avoided.

When the time comes for Wilth to be able to participate in flights, he'll flat out refuse even if everyone else wants him to join in. The only way he would ever partake in a flight of any kind would be if he were forced, and Panata would never ask that of him. He has no desire to watch his rider become Weyrleader should he happen to fly a Queen that leads to that, nor does he have any ambitions of his own to gain rank and be seen as a Bronze worthy of anything. If he were to participate many would be impressed by the sheer speed such a large dragon possesses, though that is all he has going for him, and with little to no endurance he cannot keep up if it becomes a long flight.

Why did this dragon choose this rider?: Immediately after hatching Wilth started feeling intense fear - and at the moment so was Panata. Many of the Candidates were expressing many different emotions at the time, mostly hope and want, but Panata was standing on the Sands dreading every minute of it despite how much he actually wanted a dragon. Wilth noticed this and admired how this small person could be so brave while at the same time be so terrified of the very thing he wanted most.

Basically Wilth wanted to be protected by someone willing to face their fears, and Panata was doing his best not to wet himself out on the sands. It was a win/win for both of them.

The two will actually make well with one another, both helping each other to grow in a manner of speaking. Wilth's cowardice is sure to bring snide remarks from many about the Weyr, in fact it's almost expected, and such acts against his dragon may force Panata to just grow up a little bit and realize that he can't always be the one crying. To his own benefit, Panata's effects on Wilth may just get the Bronze to actually remember that he is a Bronze, though such attempts probably will backfire and both will end up in tears.

* If the Meta Clutch is going based on Songs, then Wilth's theme would be "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler. Because it is just that perfect for him.

WILTH IS FOR THE METACLUTCH, AT THE METAWYER
