To make this short and sweet:

Post your placements in your festivals here!

Since we don't have one of these threads and I think there's always people out there who'd like everyone to know their scores and/or brag. 8D

Today we got second out of three in our class (fourth overall), best Drum Major (second best overall), and best Colorguard (second best overall).

How're you guys doing in your season? Or how did you do, if you're already done?

Our school took; best visual performance, best percussion, best color guard, best music, and on top of that we took first place in our Division ^_^

I also got a complement from one of the judges about my solo! ahhh!
Alright well I'll see ya guys around!

LOL totally not bragging but I am SUPER excited about the rest of the season! =D

-go saxes!

I just got home from our first fetival, which was early this year. We got a superior! yay! Which means we have good potential for the rest of the seasn. This is the first time we got a superior at this particular festival in 20 years. since 1989. We made history for our school.

If they don' announce us on monday, i will rip someones head off>.>

Our band went to a USSBA competition last Saturday. We got 3rd place out of 6 or so bands. We also won an award for best percussion.

We're doing pretty damn well.

In all of our competitions so far, we've gotten first place in our category. Last week we came in second out of seventeen bands (in the entire competition) and this week we came in first out of ten in the competition. Also, we swept all of the caption awards in our division, both this week and last week. Only one more competition to go, and then NEW ENGLAND CHAMPS!!!!

Last week our score was about a 70.6 or so. This week it was 76.4. We're doing a lot better than we did last year.

At our first contest, we got 2nd in prelims and 3rd in finals. I personally put most of the blame on our guard who came in 10th out of 10 in finals (they had 11th out of 20-something in prelims).

At the second, we were the last band to perform with a moderately light, cold rain, and we still managed to get best 5A, best overall, best drum major, and best horn line.

We haven't gotten first place yet, but that's just because Westminster is too amazing for us. xd We got second on Saturday, with a score of 81.10, while they got around the 85-86 range. That was our first competition where we were actually moving (first was a standstill D= ), so I think we're doing pretty well. BOA at Towson is this Saturday, and I can't wait. :]

Last night's festival at Stafford High School:

Fourth place in our class, out of the seven bands. Not sure how we did otherwise, though. No trophies this week. emo

Well our first competition my band beat the our high school band horribly!
We placed third compared to huge schools. We only have around 28 people so yup we have to be pretty good.

Our second and last competition was made of tons of schools, even some from out of state. We won first out of our class! We also had 5 people missing! So only 23 there! Overall we beat 14 bands including high school bands! There was also only 19 bands there.

All in all it was an awesome year for my last year in middle school marching band.

We've had two tournaments so far.
In 5A, weve gotten 1st Place both times biggrin
Colorguard got 1st and then 4th on the 2nd tournament (it was with 5A and 6A Guard combined, so its all good xp )

The band scores were 70-79ish range. (i forget)
so we still have work to do D:

Last night's festival was...interesting.

By the end of the show, I couldn't feel my feet and was lucky I could feel my hands. I could see my breath. And since I'm pit, we get no gloves and we don't move much...so that didn't help.

Turns out our placements were something like the following:

First place drum major, first place colorguard, second place marching (which is ABSURD. Our marching was terrible, someone lost a shoe and someone else tripped over it. How we got this, I'll never know), second place over all in our class. Fifth place percussion.
I think the band's overall score was 80.2.
Which is a superior at our states. 80 or above. Lol.

Wtf @ percussion though.
...we've GOT to do better on that one next week since it's State comp. stare

At Belleville East we got fourth out of five, and at O'fallon Township we got fourth out of five.
At Edwardsville we got fourth out of five, but our director said that we were scored unfairly (and we were!) he has never said we were judged unfairly.
At McKendree we got second! out of three...and best general effect.
At U of I marching fest we got 16th out of 19...Percussion and auxillary got 12th and Drum Majors got 4th. Drum majors were .5 points from 3rd, and 4 points from first.

And now our season's done. This was our second year doing competitive field show, and our first time ever competiting in field show at U of I.

We had a festival on Saturday that we apparently didn't do too well at(though our bd said it was better then our oher festival, where we got a superior question ) we had an excellent overall, thoughnot sure about individual scores because he hasn't chown us yet. We also only got captions in overalll music and drum majors. Top 2 in music is extremely good though. It means that we can spend more time on drill then trying to spoonfeed rythms and notes to our helpless freshman.

It was pretty fair though. Only one band out of the whole thing got a superior. And they deserved it. i'm serious. We gave them a standing ovation. They were amazing. I'm not just saying that because one of my best friends is in it either. They were good. They were only short percussion caption to get a superior with distinction, which I kind of understood. I completely forgot they had a percussion. I kind of regret not going to that school, but I'm not fond of being in a big band. I like my band. Everyoneis nice, and we sound big. We just aren't. (Wishes there was a video up from this year>.>)

Last year, an excellent was cause for celebration(All four festivals. kind of a disapointment at state though. We deserved higher at state.) This year, an excellent was cause for extreme disapointment. you should have seen us. Only about half the band cheered, only about a quarter of the band cheered enthusiastically. We had these emotions: confused cry neutral talk2hand sad stare

and they didn't announce us either>.> Though we wanted better, we still qualified for state at the last festival, and even if we hadn't we did on saturday.

There was also no video, which makes me sad.I want to see what we did wrong this time around. I'm pretty sure somebody fell, but I don't know who or when. Nobody would listen to me(probably couldn't hear me. My voice has been going all weekend.i'm sick) But I'm prety sure it was Savvy(clarinet freshman)

EDIT:
Apparently, one of the music judges sent my BD an email. He read it to us at rehearsal. He/she(He said she at first, then he started saying he?) said that we had really good balance with our winds, and that the only thing that kept him/her from giving us a superior in music was that the percussion had a tendancy to drown out the winds. An easy fix. The email made us all happy. Especially when the judge pointed this out: It would have been the only superior he had given out all day. Not even a division 1 band, who got a standing ovation because they were so good, didn't get a superior in music. we were really happy about this.
Our BD also said that earlier he was listening to the judges' tapes. We had one judge that apparently nobody likes because he judges very strictly and never gives compliments. Apparently our bD counted 3 compliments, a new recordXD Now 'm excited for state on the 7th. I will be bursing with joy if we get a superior. If we do, I will be on here at midnight(or whenever we get home, if later then that.) screaming out that we got a superior. Not sure when the last time we got one at sate was. We were disapointed last year and really deserved one. And if we do well enough, we go to finals and will be ranked as one of the top 10 bands in the state. I'm excited to see where we go. You know we've gotten good when an excellent disapoints us, according to my BD. He was pretty happy that our band has gotten as far as that mentality. Especially since somebands there were jumping for joy at an excellent, while we were like "Yay?"

Let's see... First competition, straight superiors (except for the drum major, who got an excellent) and first in class for everything. (Class 1A) And sixth out of eleven-thirteen bands.

Competition number two, straight superiors, first in class for everything, second place in the class 1A-2A (a 2A band beat us by .05!!) And 4th or 5th overall.

Third competition, first in class for everything, and fifth overall.
