Name: Raysan
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual - He's attracted to "personality" rather than gender. Strong personalities - that match or challenge his own.
Craft: ---
Rank: Candidate

History: Brewing was a part of life that several of Rayan's family enjoyed. It was a skill that over the generations sometimes developed great craftsmen but other times it developed even greater drunks. Raysan was a part of the later as Raysan's parents were a little too much into the sauce and this tended to bring about problems when it came to keeping up the house. So Raysan learned at a very young age to work hard fill the gaps that his parents at times couldn't keep up with especially with two younger sisters. He learned quickly how to negotiate at the markets and sell some of the beer when the draughts were good enough. However, at times marks were tight enough that boy had to use other means to help keep things going; means that weren't exactly legal.

Temptations mixed with desperation brought the boy to a discovery that he was much better with slippery fingers rather than the brewing. At first, he tried to keep the practice from going to his head since theft wasn't something he ever wanted to be be caught doing; especially in the Hold. Because there were a few times that his fingers almost got caught in the cookie jar and those moments almost made his heart stop, however, the scare wasn't enough to stop him when the larder was almost empty and his father was drinking the beer he was suppose to sell. When the going got rough, Raysan got going...looking for new ways that a kid could grasp a few more marks. The adult-like stress on a kid send him along the seedier parts of the Hold. There he'd occasionally find fight matches between men and found that he could earn money if he could win. The bigger the crowd the better the marks usually. Sometimes he won...sometimes he lost and ended up with his share of bruises. But as time went on, he learned more about using anything around him in a fight to win. Between the theft and the fights, he put food on the table when his parents and beer just didn't cut it.

As years went by, one of his sisters finally had grown enough to help him around the house; lightening his load. This gave Raysan more time to take the beer to market even if it weren't considered as good as others due to his father's lack of focus. He pushed it hard on celebrations just undercutting better brews knowing for a fact that more that people got tipsy or beyond the less they cared what the beer tasted like anymore. Although, for all the work involved with this honest life, he was still the one seeking more...was it the thrill he needed or something else. Standing around selling beer almost gave him way to much time think of where his life wasn't going. He wanted something more...

Life was about to offer up a new hand when during a Gather, a very drunk blue dragon rider tried lean over and speak with Raysan but in the end, the man ended up falling over into Raysan's beer stall unconscious from too much partying. This frustrated Raysan no end because the man had caused many mugs of beer to be spilt! He didn't know what to do with the rider so he dragged him back to his tent to sleep it off while his sister took over at the stall. When the rider finally woke many hours later with a god awful hangover, he finally was able to tell Raysan what he was trying to before he fell over unconscious - That his dragon thought that the boy had potential to become a rider.

Needless to say it was a strange turn of events for Raysan and well he never had imagined this opportunity and while he might have considered staying his sister was adamant that he get out while he could before he ever went too far with his...less than savory moneymaking means. Getting his father to approve was easy because he was never sober and so he ended up at the Weyr. It was a whole new adventure...

Appearance: Black long straight hair that usually tied in a braid down his back; held by one band. He's a wiry build - flexible and toned muscles; like a cat in style. His skin is lightly tan in complexion and the brim of his nose and cheeks are dappled with freckles; while his eyes are a muddy brown. Reasonably good looking when he tries but his features are sometimes marred by the mischievous smirk that crosses his lips. His fingers nails are a mix of broken and sharp from work with calloused hands and he tends to favor an old pair of leather pants won from a dragon rider in a card game.

Personality: Raysan has had a rough life from living with two alcoholic parents so he's not one to put up with much bullshit. Sometimes cursed with a sharp tongue, he doesn't easily tolerate those that don't pull there own weight because he has known from an early age the weight of responsibility.

Raysan is sure of himself, driven, a hard worker, and not afraid of much. He'd probably be the first to step up for a dangerous mission because he'd be hard pressed to pass up the thrill - "You only live once!" Call him courageous, he'll never back down when he's been called out - If he starts a fight, he'll damn well finish it. If he does manage to make a friend, he might step in on their behalf against another opponent depend on the situation. He does have a small soft spot for people that remind him of his sisters...that gentle sweeter nature that he doesn't always see in himself. He's a scrapper, fights dirty and knows how to drink his beer. Although, rarely will he drink more than one or two mugs due to his parents' problems.

Raysan is a devil in the details; having watched people for many years so he can find the best moments to cut a purse or pilfer a pocket. He doesn't trust easily but then again he's had to grow up so much faster than other kids. There's been no time to be child-like when he's been supporting his family. But even for all his flaws, he knows love...at least for his sisters...and duty. As his sisters would say, he is the reason that had food on the table and a future.

Deep within his soul, the determined boy is searching for something...Something he cannot find sitting idly by.

Other: I want to give him that fire lizard egg and have it won from a card game at the Weyr.

Brewing skills/tasting skills - he's not a brewer apprentice but he's more than helped his father with his work when the man was drunk at work. He knows how pick a few good hops and grains. He can also set up or clean vats and stills. He learned the market prices of various beers. If he were to have time to apprentice in Brewing he'd definitely have a good start.

Theif - pick pocketing, cutpurse. slight of hand.
Negotiation - Market knowledge (Math/writing)
Scrapper - Been in enough fights to know how to take care of himself.

Very nice. Approved. :3

Just remember if he starts too many fights the Weyrwoman will call him to see her and there's a possibility he could booted out. (Not that I'm saying play him OOC to avoid conflict, just letting you know in advance.)
