I looked at the movie’s entry on Japanese Wikipedia, but all that yielded was a single-sentence summary about insects plus nuclear weapons equals armageddon.
Here’s the longest synopsis I’ve found yet, from fjmovie.com:
Plot: A USA military airplane which had an A-bomb on board was attacked by a swarm of insects and fell to the island in Japan. Survivors enterd into the cave. They heard fllapping of wings, and something attacked them. Lieutenant Colonel Gordon came to the island to recober an A-bomb, and he met Charly who is only survivor of the aiplane. He talked in delirium, "Insects, Insects…". Gordon arrested a japanese young man named Jouji as a murder because he had the military watch. Gordon tried to find out the place where an A-bomb was from Jouji. Nagumo a study for insects pled for Jouji, and he guessed that Insects muedered Charly’s fellow. There was spies in this island, and they was tracing an A-bomb. The spies took Charly out to their hide-out. The leader of spies was a white girl named Anabelle. She was breeding poisonous insects, and put Charly to the torture by insects. But insects run away, and attacked people as a swarm…

Other fun facts:
* Actress Emi Shindo is in this, and she was also in the 1977 live action production of Golgo 13 with better known Sonny Chiba, which I haven’t seen but being an anime fan I recognized the title of the manga upon which it’s based (there’s also a Golgo 13 anime).
* Actor Yusuke Kawazu was in two 1990s Gamera movies plus Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla. The oddly named actor Chiko Roland was also in a Gamera movie, during the 70s just before but a different movie from Gamera vs. Zigra. Gamera vs. Monster X? Actors Franz Gruber and Harold Conway were also in assorted Gamera and Godzilla related things.
* Actress Kathy Horan, who plays the lady doing creepy mad science things to a carpenter bee as shown in the trailer, was in THE GREEN SLIME. You know, that KTMA era MST3K episode that started everything…
