"This one?" Dakin held a thin telescope above his head for Madeline to examine. Between the recent discovery of the child's interest in mathematics and this visit to the planetarium, the criminal could only imagine the flavors of Smart Crap she would be subjected to in the future. Still, a telescope wasn't half as bad as the rest of the nerdy junk in this gift shop. The thing was cheap, too. Not that she would be paying for it.
"Yeah, that's fine. It might even be small enough to use on the balcony thingy." Could it be? Was Madeline being... nurturing? "Just don't get too distracted using it or you'll fall, like, four stories and break your face." Kind of. She shoved the packet of Astronaut Ice Cream she had been clutching for the past twenty minutes into the inside pocket of her coat without regard for security cameras or personnel and started toward the automatic sliding door. "Meet me outside when you're done paying," she said as she went.
Unable to nod his agreement, Dakin just sort of wobbled his head around and made his way toward the line of people in front of the cashier.

Nell had dragged her guardian to the planetarium because it sounded like fun and it was for the most part though most of the terms that few about as the curators and other people in charge explained it admittedly few over head and just out of her grasp. The pale freckle faced girl had soon dragged her guardian to the gift shop where she was now poking amongst the curiosities she discovered there for whatever reason not quite noticing someone similar to her was within her vicinity the entire time.
Onuris followed along good naturedly and watched curiously to see what she would pick out.
She didn't just pick out one item but two. A packet of stickers she didn't yet have - the odd girl was drawn to them like a moth to flame - and a poster-chart of constellations that were 'outlined' and pointed out where they were positioned in the starry sky. Onuris quietly tilted his head to the side as he pulled out a wallet and gave her some money, "You go ahead and pay for it."
Nell's eyes widened as if he had told her that she had suddenly won some major prize as she took the money in a free hand. Her pale wings fluttered excitedly as turned on the toes of her rainbow-patterned converse sneakers making a small squeak sound as she fled to the line and stood just behind a winged boy. Onuris stayed put and gave a small laugh.
...She stared at the back of his head before she announced, "Hi! My hands are full, my name is Nell. You have wings so do I," she said in a frank matter-of-fact tone.

Dakin turned, the hint of a smile forming on his lips. This girl was very sparkly, even though she wasn't actually sparkling at all. His wings flapped a hello, since his hands were full as well, and he replied, "Dakin." Not that she had asked. "What're you getting?"
"All right. Okay!" Madeline's surly voice echoed across the store. She had been stopped at the door, planetarium security not as lax as she had hoped. She strolled back over to Dakin's side, pushing the package of moisture-sucked ice cream into the crook of the child's arm and wandering away to examine something at random.

She smiled even more brightly when he addressed her and it seemed to make her day to be totally made out of sunshine and rainbows she practically danced in place at the attention when it was returned but she remained quite stationary after some inner struggle, "I'm getting this star-chart poster and this pack of stickers aaaaaaand I get to pay for them all by myself," Nell announced proudly as she watched the boy across from her. "What are you getting?" She was vaguely curious about the commotion in the shop but she kept her eyes trained upon Dakin even as the woman came over and put the ice cream in the boy's arm.
Onuris gazed at the commotion for her and tilted his head a bit as he watched the odd woman grudgingly move forth and put the object she intended to swipe in the boy's arm. It seemed to stir a memory within him and he just smiled when she moved close enough to him he simply said, "The nerve of those people, eh?"

Dakin held out his purchases, including the Astronaut Ice Cream he had just been saddled with. He looked particularly proud of the telescope, but didn't say anything else on the subject. He held out his money too, then nodded with what seemed to be a little bit of strain. Ha! It seemed the lying gods hadn't known what to make of that! "Is your mom here?" he asked.
"Yeah," Madeline said before she realized she was talking to a complete stranger. She grinned for a brief second, even if she didn't immediately understand why this red-haired guy was even remotely interested in talking to her. "But I guess I had it coming. I didn't think anyone would care what I took out of here, you know?" Or maybe he didn't know. She shrugged.

She shook her head as she stared at Dakin as she nodded toward the red haired man that seemed to be talking to the person that saddled her new friend with yet another item, "Don' have a momma! Just a daddy, a sister, and an auntie," Nell offered cheerfully as she tried very hard not to drop everything she was currently carting. That would be horrible to drop everything like that. Augh. "Do ya have a large family?" she queried curious about this person.
Onuris offered a shrug in response toward her words, he was indifferent and unable to judge this individual based on their behavior. He had stolen more than his share of things much larger than that of an ice cream bar. "In a place this big they care a surprising amount, it's like the bigger it is the more they notice things and protect stuff," Onuris observed thoughtfully.
Was he an enabler? Possibly.
