Sun beginning to rise into the dark blue sky, the plaza was relatively empty. Although the occasional human wandered about, the area was spacious. Leila casually lay down outside of a shop, bathing in the warm, soothing sunlight. Stomach on the concrete, she idly swished her tail around, blue-green eyes lazily surveying the plaza.

It had been a few days since her abandonment, and she was still feeling like trash. Although she could at least say that she was no longer moping about it. Rather, Leila was now focusing on readjusting her lifestyle. Other than the fact that finding food was incredibly more difficult than she imagined it to be, there wasn’t much of a problem so far.

A hand softly stroked the blue fabric tied around her neck. The reminder of it no longer pained her, but she still refused to show her scar to anyone. Let the other cats think what they think. She could care less.

A low yawn and she stretched out. This morning was slow, yet relaxing.

Mir padded quietly around the Plaza, making her first circuit of her morning run before she headed off into the marketplace for food and her daily exercise. Passing the various shops, she saw a female cat, curled up in front of one of the shops. Nodding in her direction, Mir smiled, continuing around the Plaza. At the end of her jog, Mir stopped at the fountain, stretching out her arms above her head and yawning a bit. Placing her left leg on the fountains edge, Mir leaned over it, continuing to stretch and did the same with the other leg as well. Standing up, Mir bounced slightly, glancing over to the female she had nodded to. The plaza was quiet this morning, and today just felt like a good day to Mir. Somehow she felt like it would just be appropriate for a random act of kindness. Making up her mind, Mir padded over to the female. Smiling when she reached the front of the shops, Mir stopped a short distance away, nodding again in polite hello to the stranger. “Hello.” She said politely, “I was just about to get some breakfast, and I was wondering if you’d care to join me. I’d appreciate the company and I promise not to bore you too much.” Mir smirked slightly, waiting for the female to respond.

Continuing to bask in the sun’s warm glow, she opened her mouth as wide as she could pry it open and let out a slow yawn, tongue rolling out. Eyelids drooped and blue-green continued to peer out at the plaza, taking in its particular scenery. Leila had always been restricted from stepping outside for very long by her previous owner. This was puzzling, but she supposed that the human girl was worried that the Himalayan would scatter off into oblivion and never come back. That was a silly worry, though. Leila would never dare think to leave her owner behind!

She loved her owner dearly and was disheartened to find that the girl could no longer take care of her. For the first few days all that Leila could do was mope and aimlessly walk from one place to another without a care in the world.

At least Leila had recovered from that. Now all the female Himalayan had to do was ease into the life of a stray cat. A relaxed sigh and she closed her eyelids, continuing to bathe in the daylight. Ears picking up someone’s voice, she popped open an eye to stare at Mir.

“Hello,” she uneasily answered, unused to being approached by strangers. At the proposition of breakfast, she propped her elbows up and cocked her head to the side, tail rolling side to side. “Hm . . . sure.”

She got up to her feet, flicking off the specks of dust and gravel that clung to her fur. “Where to?”

Mir smiled, glad of the stranger’s acceptance to her proposal. “I usually head off to the market place for something to eat.” She tilted her head a little, watching the Himalayan get up and brush herself off. Mir wasn’t sure if the female was collared or not. Many of the shop owners around the Plaza had cats, and this female could very well be one of them. She couldn’t judge by the female neck due to the blue ribbon around her throat. The ribbon could have actually been her collar, but Mir didn’t ask. She felt it wasn’t something you just pry in to. “I’m not disturbing you, am I?” The Singapura asked. The other female seemed to be alright with Mir’s offer, but she wanted to make sure.

“Oh, is that so?” Leila politely replied, “I happen to be unfamiliar with the marketplace.”

She happened to be unfamiliar with most of the city, actually. Having been barred from most of the outside world from her paranoid owner, the Himalayan barely knew her way around the streets. It was only luck that she had managed to not stumble into any trouble. That, and the common sense to avoid anything dark and suspicious.

Speaking to strangers should have also been something to shy away from, but having suffered from a major lack of social interaction and curious about the life of strays, Leila ignored the alarm bells ringing in her head. Although inexperienced with fights, she was sure that she could at least escape with her quick feet. She had a hunch that it would be unnecessary, though.

She shook her head, releasing a slow yawn. “No, not at all. I was just lying around in the sun, was all.” Leila brought a hand forward for a handshake. “I’m Leila, you?”

Mir raised her eyebrows a little, surprised somewhat at the fact that this cat wasn’t very familiar with the marketplace. Then she thought about it for a moment and a number of reasons for that filled her head and she nodded, accepting the information. Smiling as the Himalayan introduced herself, Mir took her hand, shaking it not too firmly. “Mirelle. Nice to meet you.” The fact that Leila was unfamiliar with the marketplace made Mir wonder if she was indeed a shop cat and she glanced at the blue ribbon, wondering again what it was; collar or otherwise. Whatever it was, Mir liked the effect of the blue fabric against her skin. Mir snorted quietly, shaking her head and looking away towards the marketplace. She seemed to be eyeing a lot of people recently, strangely even more since she had met Thrud. Mir felt that if she kept it at looking and no more than that it was fine, but even still, sometimes she found own thoughts and behavior a bit much. Smiling a little to herself, she looked back at Leila. “Shall we?

She could see the other cat curiously c**k delicate eyebrows at her and Leila flashed back a small, guilty smile. Although there was not much that the Himalayan could have done to familiarize herself with the city, she also had to admit that there had been plenty of time to explore and delve into the city’s deepest corners and alleyways. Instead, Leila had taken her time investigating the shops and the various aspects of life that she would soon be assimilating into.

Releasing her grip on Mirelle’s hand, she let her arms drop to her sides. Noticing her particular attention to her neck, Leila cocked her head and visualized herself, wondering what exactly could be catching her eye. The only logical choice being the piece of blue fabric wrapped around her neck, she had to wonder what was so interesting about it. It was, after all, a simple ribbon that was mainly used as an accessory (although it also hid the collar mark quite well).

She nodded her head. “Sure! Are we heading to a certain shop or something else altogether?” she inquired.

Mir smiled, thinking about her normal route to the bakery where she usually got breakfast. She liked to get something warm to start the morning and a sweet roll usually did the trick. She hadn’t been in a while so she figured the vender wouldn’t shoo her out on sight. Mir usually tried to space out her unwanted visits anywhere so that she didn’t become a recognized nuisance. Unsure of what Leila would like for breakfast and considering that she wasn’t familiar with the marketplace anyways, Mir figured it would be best to just dive into the market place and see what took the Himalayan’s fancy. The walk would be a good opportunity to maybe get to know Leila some and the Himalayan could take a look around without rushing off to any location in particular. Smiling, Mir shrugged slightly. “Nowhere in particular, just into the thick of things; see what looks good.

Leila tilted her head to the side, ears curiously twitching at Mir. Her answer being somewhat (rather, very ambiguous) she was keen on discovering what place they were planning to visit. There was little, if any, information she could glean from the statement that could give the Himalayan a clue of where the pair were heading to.

Even so, Leila sensed no malicious intentions from the other feline. Rather, based on first impressions she seemed like someone nice and friendly. She was glad for that.

She shrugged at Mir’s reply. One thing was for sure, it wasn’t going to be a dangerous place they were going to. “Alright then,” the cat said and gestured for her to lead the away, obviously unaware of the whereabouts of the shop Mir had in mind. “Lead the way.”

Mir smiled, starting off towards the market. She turned, walking backwards and addressing Leila, which she seemed want to do when she was walking with someone. “Is there any kind of food you would prefer? Or something that you don’t like? I know the Market really well, so if there is anything that sounds good, just let me know, ok?” She smiled cheerfully, turning back around and making her way towards a lane with a myriad of different stalls that made up this end of the market. “I usually like something warm in the morning,” Mir called over her shoulder to the Himalayan. “Something filling to wake you up the rest of the way, you know?” Mir felt content; happy with the way the morning was starting out. “Is there something you usually like for breakfast?” Mir chuckled, turning around again to face Leila. “I hope I’m not prying too much.” She said, grinning.

Soon as the cat began leading the way, Leila eagerly followed. It was early in the morning and the Himalayan had yet to swipe something for breakfast. She was ready to eat just about anything! In the back of her mind though, Leila would love it if they could go to a shop that sold warm, sweet pastries. If there was one kind of food that she had to state was her favorite, it was definitely the sweet, sugary kinds. There’s nothing wrong with being a sweet tooth, was there?

“Sweets, definitely sweet stuff! It doesn’t have to be candy though, I hear that’s not very healthy anyways,” she answered with a laugh. “Otherwise, I’m fine with wherever you take me. I like a lot of foods.”

Mir continued to amiably chat with Leila. “Oh no, not at all! I don’t think you’re prying at all. It’s just an innocent food question,” Leila assured her. “Also, I’d say my favorite things for breakfast are blueberry muffins. Delicious! What about you?” As she talked she constantly looked around her, observing and trying to memorize the shops and places that they passed.
