It's pretty easy, that is till you get to the really high notes and they have fingerings that don't really make sense.. But, its fun to play if you can get past the squeaking stage.

I don't know if this is true, but I heard that its really easy starting off, and then it gets harder as you go on.

It's easy starting off, but it's difficult to learn the upper registers because the fingerings are confusing. The highest notes are especially hard to learn. It's also kind of hard to play it in tune.

Well, in my oppinion, it is fairly mid-difficulty. As sated before, the higher ingerings can be hard, but for two octaves the fingerings are the same and easy, just add the octave key for higher ups. The hardest part I have found is getting your embouchaure right, as in, the tightness f your mouth.

it can be when you first start off, but it does get harder as you go along.
it all depends on your willpower & determination. i play clarinet myself so i say go for it :]

It's called a register key, not an octave key. And that's not all you do. The fingerings are completely different between the chalumeau, throat tone, clarino, and altissimo ranges.

well... its easy until you get to the note above A because you need the register key, but other than that it'll be easy. Until you get to the funky melodys because people seem to insist that we get the weird notes and rhythms. ToT

I found it really hard to start. However, I was coming straight from trumpet and had very few lessons.

That and I didn't really practice it like I should have. I found bassoon to be easier probably because I took more lessons and practice a whole lot more. lol
