OK. This isn't a poetry contest. just a place for all you poets out there to bounce ideas off of others, or type a poem if you feel like it. Or it can be a place where you can talk about literature or your favorite poem or poet.

But there are a few rules.
1. Absolutely no fighting if you don't agree with someone state your opinion and just agree to disagree. Gaia is a free country and everyone can have their own opinion.
2. Don't be crude in your poetry. Whether you would like to believe it or not no one wants to hear about how whatsasname put their blank in your blank and it felt so blanking good. sweatdrop rolleyes
3.If your going to give criticism make it constructive. nobody likes to be told they suck or that their poetry is bad and its just straight up not nice. 4laugh
4. HAVE FUN!!!! whee whee whee

I would have to say my favorite poet is John Keats. His work is amazing and his tragically short life seems to punctuate his beautiful poetry. On another note I never really cared for Maya Angelou's poetry until I had the chance to hear her speak and recite her poetry the way she felt it. It was an experience of a lifetime.

I came up with this at like 4am, it wouldn't let me sleep until I worked with it. Nothing but a scrap maybe I will finish it out, but here you go...

A long time ago,
though the lands were still old,
and man raised his fist against wrong.
A banner was flown,
and when courage was shown,
mens deeds were made immortal in song.

This poem is about love.

Love can fly above the pain and sorrow of the world,
It is the only truth that I know to be true.
Agints all odds It moves easily and softly into the heart,
It moves into the people who thinks that they don't need it
Love will find you in unlikely of places.

heres a new poem from me

at night when I am dreaming with my half closed eyes
I wrap my arms around you and move closer to your side
my lips touch upon your soft warm skin and I pause as you stir in you sleep
I watch you as your eye lashes flutter and I listen to you breath
my fingers weave with yours and I never want to let go
I lay my head upon your chest and hear your heart beat loud and strong
your arms cant pull me close enough you were gone for far too long
but I know there's something wrong with you
I can see it in your face
you wont trust me like you should
because of the pain that caused me i might be gone for good

That's very pretty but very sad. At least the first part is how I feel about my boyfriend, I don't get to see him again for another ten months.

This is a poem of lost love

Thought that you was my angel from heaven,
but I found out that you a devil, that took my heart.
Now my heart in a million pieces, that I cann't put back together.
Once I thought that you my angel of light heaven sent to save me. But I now know that you were the devil of the night that took my heart and broke it.
