Miranda had been a good girl and as such Valeri had agreed to buy her some gummy-strawberries like she had been begging him to. Hand-in-hand the two meandered down the aisle, his gaze reading the packaged sweets on the higher shelves while Miranda looked at the lower shelves for her favorite treat. The gummies were delicious, strawberry shaped, and red; all things she loved the most about candy. Granted her guardian didn't give her the treats as often as she would like, but that is what made it a treat and not just random daily food for consumption.
Soon they stopped in the part of the aisle that usually stored mainly gummy items but still there was no sign of them, a brief frown showed on Valeri's face and it was mirrored in Miranda when she noted her Papi was frowning and she knew it could only mean one thing. She grasped her own tail and held it in her small grasp and uttered a small disappointed sigh.
"I am sure they're here," the purple haired man said softly with a reassuring tone as he leaned on his cane, taking weight off of his leg, "we just gotta look a bit harder," he said softly as he looked toward where the gummy-strawberry treats were being held, perhaps someone devious had hidden it under other packages? Valeri gently released his daughter's hand. "Don't wander off, Squishie," he said to her.
Miranda nodded once and stayed put determinedly as she watched her father-figure with a hopeful gaze.

Soon, more voices approached from around the corner, the clickity-clank of another shopping cart turning into the isle. "Okay, just this once. We'll get you some candy, Mei some ice cream, and 'Mara can pick out some meat, okay? Just nothing too expensive." A female sighed, pushing the cart along. A dragon fallowed at her feet, next to it a teenage goat-boy. He grinned at the presence of all the different sweets, and immediately went to go search some out.
A girl rounded the corner behind them, looking questioningly up at the much-taller woman, before grinning as she received a nod, walking over with the boy and the dragon to look at the confections.
They have a lot here, don't they? A voice echoed in their heads, though the source wasn't identifiable. Amara nodded up at the girl, eyes glittering curiously. "Oh cool! Strawberry gummies!" Donat grinned, holding up a bag. "Though....These don't belong with the chocolate...Huh." He frowned, walking over to the gummy part to find their normal place.
"Oh, hello!" Donat smiled down to Miranda. Another D-Corp kid? Awesome. "D'ya know where these go? Someone put these with the chocolate."

Miranda heard the cart and the talk of someone but she determinedly paid them no mind. Nothing would distract her from her duty of staying where her Papi told her to stay, NOTHING. As if to anchor herself further a small hand reached up and grasped the hem of Valeri's shirt and she set her stance on the ground a little more firmly as if afraid that these new people would steer her away from her promise. Oh but she did love meeting new people.
This was absolute torture for the small girl as she stared up hopefully at her guardian hoping he'd be successful.
Suddenly the words 'Oh cool! Strawberry gummies!' made her ears twitch and her head whipped toward the voice with wide pink eyes, she wore her usual wide brimmed hat to protect herself from most lights and her pince-nez glasses hung at her neck by a lanyard so as not to get lost. She hated the glasses but some lights really, really hurt her eyes.
She stared up at the taller boy with a bit of an 'mmm' wanting to say that they are simply hers but that seemed like something Papi would disapprove of.
Valeri looked away from his digging, looked at the boy and then down at his daughter as he stopped using his cane for weight support, "It's okay sweetheart you can answer him." Had Miranda suddenly been struck shy? The purple haired man doubted it.
Miranda gazed up at her guardian and wrinkled her nose as she pointed her free hand toward where the gummies were supposed to go and said, "There'th, but may I plea'th have them in'th'tead," she threw a mental tizzy at her speech but she still smiled outwardly at the older boy before her.

The boy smiled, watching her as she waited for approval, and then grinned when she asked for them. "Sure, here." He handed the bag to her happily. "They look really cool. I hope you enjoy them."
At seeing Donat be friendly with the girl, Amara padded over to be social. Perhaps this girl was nice too? And she certainly did seem to have manners. And if there was food involved in this, well! She'd surely have to see. The dragon looked at Miranda, looking the girl over curiously.
The other girl, however, simply glanced over at the quartet, and went back to looking at the confections. After a while, she pulled up a box of something called 'Pocky', and looked over to Donat. Say, are these any good? The voice flitted through their minds again, leaving a tingle as it faded.
"Yes Mei, those are good." The woman answered, seeming to trust the fact that the kids could take care of themselves. She herself was eying the Pocky, perhaps deciding if the extra expense was worth it.

Miranda let out a happy squeak when the bag was handed to her and she stared up at the other boy and then looked toward the dragon and then seemed thoughtful when she stared up at the older boy again, "I th'are with you~?" She offered generously, "When Papi pai'th for 'em that i'th," she amended after her offer. So many things going on! Her ears twitched a bit as she looked over to the girl that stood separate and then to the woman that answered and then looked back up at the boy and dragon before her. She seemed to decide to pay most attention to he-who-gave-her-gummies and that dragon that was with him for the time being, "I'm Miranda~."
Valeri stared over at the gathering for a moment before he peered back toward the candy selection thoughtfully. Something about the whole scenario of dragon and child that he had been coming across kind of sat heavily in his mind for a few moments though he was not quite sure WHY this was just yet. He decided to let that bother him another time for now. At the moment these chocolate covered raisins looked quite delicious...

He smiled when she squeaked happily, watching her eyes light up with pure joy. Wow, he was sure making a lot of kid's days recently! Nothing like seeing smiles. "Share? Aww, you're so sweet." Donat smiled to her, crouching down to get to her height. Kids were just adorable~. "I'm Donat, and this is Amara, my dragon." He introduced, smiling brightly.
Amara looked Miranda over. Oh, Miranda, eh? Well. She'd have to see if THIS girl was as nice as the other they had met earlier. After all, you can't be too careful with these kids. Some are rather rough! Tugging on tails and horns and wings! But oh yes. Amara had her eye on Miranda for sure.
The woman pushed the cart down past the Pocky, having decided against it. (Three dollars! Ridiculous! She could get it for less in bulk from online! And in Green Tea too...) Pulling up next to Valeri, she offered a smile. "She yours?" She asked, smiling over to Miranda for a second.

Miranda watched as the taller boy crouched to her level. She nodded affirmatively at the question and giggled lightly when the boy told her she was sweet. She liked the boy and as she glanced at the dragon she had decided she liked the dragon as well simply because it didn't give her weird stares or vibes every time she gazed toward the dragon. When Donat introduced himself and the dragon she made a small happy sound, "I like'th your name'th! Amara is very pretty~." She complimented cheerfully and sincerely. Would the dragon like some strawberry gummies as well? Hmm.
Valeri for a moment was engrossed in his own little world of whether or not to buy the chocolate covered raisins and so when the woman suddenly moved close to him and address him which made him startle and a sheepish expression flickered across his face before he nodded as he gazed at the apparent trio that had come to the aisle with her, "Yeah she is," he said with a mild amount of pride, "you seem to have a full house, huh?"

Donat smiled, watching her giggle and laugh. Such a cute kid...And at least she had her strawberry gummies now! "Why thank you." He grinned, watching Amara as she purred happily.
Pretty? Oh yes, she liked this child too~! Another for the Nice List back home, right? Such nice children around in Barton! She was definitely enjoying her move here. Amara sat down closer to Miranda, giving the look of approval to her happily. If Miss Miranda wants, she can pat the pretty dragon~.
The goat boy laughed again, watching Amara. "Well someone's in a friendly mood again!" He commented. "She's in the mood to be patted. You're more than welcome to do so, Miranda." He smiled to the younger girl.
Kanna smiled, watching her kids run amok in the isle. "She's adorable. And yeah, full house. Full apartment, rather. Need to do some work on that." She admitted. "It's too crowded right now. Donat came with the dragon, and..well....The apartment won't last much longer with a dragon in house." She laughed.

"Welcome'th!" She said in response as she hugged the package of gummies to her chest and then looked over at the purring dragon as she sat closer to her. Miranda blinked up at Donat when he spoke and tilted her head and looked down at Amara. Thus far her experiences with dragons have been...slim. The one dragon she met gave very unfriendly vibes but this one was different. Still she had some momentary reservations before she reached out a small hand and gently petted Amara upon the head, "Eee~," she cooed happily, "Amara is ni'th'e and pretty!"
"Donat i'th lucky-lucky~." Miranda said happily.
Valeri gave a small chuckle and nodded a bit, "Well I am sure it'll work out," he seemed thoughtful as he gazed at the woman that was speaking with him. "He's not yours originally?" of course what the man meant by that is that she had somehow gotten the boy at a later stage in life rather than earlier. He could look at the woman and tell that she and the children she had were if no blood relation.
"The name is Val by the way," he introduced himself before his manners got completely away from him.

Amara crooned happily again when she was patted. She always did enjoy a gentle pat to the head, and even more so when it was done by a child~. Of course, being called pretty was always a plus. When she could pay this child back, she would. Maybe with a nice flight somewhere, hmmm?
Donat smiled. "She is rather pretty, isn't she?" He beamed, so proud that Amara was on good behavior today again. "I'm sure you're lucky too! To have such good luck at finding gummies!" He laughed. "Are they good? I haven't seen those before." Of course, it could be the fact that he hadn't gone to this store before. Different families had different shopping habits.
"I'm sure it will too. I've already been looking at a few houses in the area. Just got to find the right place, you know?" Kanna smiled, nodding. "Nope. A friend of mine asked me to take care of him. His own house was getting rather full, and...well...I didn't know the dragon came with." She sheepishly laughed, rubbing the back of her neck. "I seem to be rather apt at finding kids. First was Meirou....Then Donat and Amara. At least they're all old enough to take care of themselves...I've got to work all day."
"Oh, it's nice to meet you. I'm Kanna." She smiled, giving a slight bow out of habit.

She petted at Amara for a moment or two longer. Miranda found she liked the scaled texture of the dragon's hide. She nodded at Donat's words, "Amara i'th very pretty, pretty, pretty. I like'th Amara lot'th!" She said happily as she stopped petting for the moment to quietly fiddle with her package. At Donat's question she nodded and finally decided that it would be perfectly alright for each of them to have one now so long as her Papi paid for them in the end. Miranda had seen many ladies walking around with open food packages here and there so they should be allowed to do so as well! Once she got the package open she offered the open pack up to Donat and waited for him to take gummies for himself and whoever else that was with him that he wanted to share them with.
Valeri nodded and listened to the woman as she spoke to him. He glanced at his adopted daughter and didn't move to correct her at the moment. Why correct her for things she saw happening in the store around her? As long as they didn't eat the entire packet of gummies it was fine.
He laughed a bit and soon came up with a sneaking suspicion though he didn't like to make assumptions, "From a friend huh? Your friend mention where they got Donat and Amara from?" Valeri asked openly.
"Just Miranda and I at my own apartment," he said simply with a small nod, "so I guess I got a little lucky..."

The dragon purred more, leaning more up against the girl happily. A plus plus plus~! For sure, for sure~! Donat laughed, watching his dragon turn into a pile of happy goo. "She sure likes you!" He smiled to Miranda, scratching the back of his head absentmindedly. The moment she opened the package he blinked, surprised. "Is this really okay?" He asked, reaching in and taking a few. He popped one in his mouth and chewed, musing over the flavor. "Wow. These are good." He grinned, "You've got a great taste in gummies."
Amara looked up woefully at Miranda, and then Donat. A dragon can has gummy too, rite?
"Yeah...He did." Kanna nodded, smiling a bit. She had her own suspicions about Miranda, but wasn't about to be mistaken. After all, she COULD have come from somewhere else! Plenty of odd kids running around. "A company called D-Corp. I went there to pick him and Amara up."
Kanna sighed slightly, crossing her arms. "Kids always seem to find me, is the odd thing. Guess I've got a huge flashing sign saying 'I'll adopt you!' on my back." She chuckled, shaking her head.

Miranda giggled lightly, "I like'th her too!" she said cheerfully. "Yeh'th! I th'een ladie'th do it all over the th'tore. A'th long a'th Papi pay'th for it an' I don' eat'th it all i'th okay," she reasoned and stared contemplatively at Amara before finally she offered the dragon a strawberry gummy with an open palm and a smile. "You try th'ome too! No make you th'ick!" So the rat-girl hoped she'd feel genuinely guilty if Amara ended up sick after eating a gummy that she had given the poor dragon. But it can't be that bad it's just ...strawberry and gummy.
..Right?
Valeri blinked at Kanna's words and stared over at his daughter, Donat, and Amara. Dragon the boy came with a dragon?! Oh crap where was he going to put a dragon in his apartment! How big did the dragons get? This..is what he gets for being so lazy about his research, he had no clue about that he reached up and rubbed the side of his neck a little uneasily. The company would surely have arrangements for this sort of thing ... He hoped.
"I see, that's interesting...I..got Miranda from D-Corp as well," he admitted after he took a moment to swallow down the possibility of a dragon living with him and Miranda. Urgh.
He chuckled a bit at Kanna's words, "Well I guess you just seem to have that way about you? You know the thing that tells others that you're a kind and nurturing person, nothing wrong with that ... Granted you seem to be running out of space from what you tell me."

Amara blinked at the offer of the gelatinous object, sniffing it in her palm before gently taking it. She chewed, musing over the flavor. While she concluded it was good, it wasn't as good as other things....
Like meat.
Donat simply smiled and patted her head. "See? Not so bad. You really need to try different things, 'Mara." He laughed.
She smiled, laughing a little. "At least it's good to see I'm not the only one in town with a kid. She's obviously got a great father figure with her manners."
At his next comment, Kanna nodded, thinking things over with another sigh. "Yeah. Space is an issue, but I should be able to find something for a good price. At least I'm hoping so." It wasn't like money wasn't too sparse, just a little tight at the end of the month. If she could just start saving up a little bit more... "But it'll be getting time off work to look that'll be hard. Not exactly the easiest job to have, especially since it's crunch time.." Too many concerts.
