The early sun was rising, casting strange shadows. This was the latest little Rainingsun had ever been up and her first view of a sunrise. She had snuck away from home just so she could see one. The spot where she perched her self on the border was surreal. Not only was this her first sunrise, it was also her first look into the Rogue lands.
"Wooowww" The pup couldn't help but say that. Nothing else seemed to describe the scene that was painting it self out in front of her. The bright yellow orb, that was the sun, had always fascinated her. The fact that she was named after it and hardly got to see it sorta made her sad.
The pups maw opened and a yawn escaped. Blinking and giggling she hopped on all fours , probably time to head back before her family worried. The pup really wasn't supposed to be this far out from the pack's heart, but at the same time, she had a heart for adventure. Yawning again, the small yellow blue dog started on her way back, slightly bouncing as she went.

As the starlight fled from the land, Cigende finally came to a stop at the edge of some trees. She winced as she stretched, working out the kinks put in her muscles by a long week's travel. Though she was a traveler by nature, and used to a good long walk, seven days in a row without a decent meal was a bit much, and it had taken its toll on her in the form of aches and pains.
Peering through tired eyes, she sized up her new location. Trees. Hm. Weighing hunting versus getting some shuteye, she decided to try her luck with the local animals after a bit of rest. But as she began to search around for a place to settle in, the wind brought scents to her. Suddenly she was a lot more awake.
Canines. Shuffling in place nervously, she swiveled her ears to find any trace of movement. The last pack of canines she'd encountered had left her limping. Smaller than lions, but there always seemed to be a bloody lot of them. And the scent suggested there might be at least one close by.

The pup seemed to be lost in the scene. The fact a hyena was nearing had not yet dawned on the small pup. She was totally in bliss with what the scenery was doing around her as she bounced.
It wasn't until the young wild dog started to get really near did she smell something that wasn't pack. Rather then put her on high alert, it amused her curiosity. What could this none pack scent be? Rainingsun wanted to find out that was for sure.
Clearly, this was a wild dog who had never encountered anything other then prey and other wild dog. The fact that hyena's and lion's or something else could be what she was smelling had not dawned on her. Rainingsun was a tender soul and had not yet been struck in the face with the harsh reality that was outside of the pack.

Turning in circles, Cigende couldn't find any sign of danger, but her nerves were still on end. A lifetime of traveling along had honed her flight instinct to a paranoid edge. She eyed the trees around her, wondering if she should take to the long walk again. But there were no canines in sight, and she was just so tired...
A glint of yellow caught her peripheral view, and she whirled, strong jaws open to bite. But just as quick she snapped them shut in surprise. Where she had been imagining a rabid horde of mongrels to fight off, she found a single small pup.
Cigende was at a loss of what to do with this unexpected event. A pup was not a threat, was it? Surely not, she towered over it by multiple feet. If it wasn't threat, then it was... what? She had next to no experience interacting with non-threat creatures. Only her far distant memories of a mother and siblings served as her social training. So hesitantly, she wagged her tail.

The pup bounced nearer and nearer the scent until she saw the strange maned canine like creature. Her mouth opened and closed, the word 'wow' would not form.
Then the pups tail began to wag and she darted on toward the hyena at full speed. Bouncing and yipping and wagging, this pup was just in curiosity heaven.
"WOW!" She finally yipped, her tongue hanging out the side of her maw, "WHAT ARE YOU!? WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!? ARE YOU A GOD?" The pup darted circles around the new found creature. This was the pups first encounter of a predator that was not of the pack.

Shocked at the sudden explosion of energy from the puppy, Cigende backed up, and had to keep swiveling to keep the puppy in front where she could see her. But the questions demanded an answer, and she obediently replied "No, I'm not a god, I'm a Cigende."
She sniffed, and picked up the scent of other wild dogs on the little one. That would be a problem. But for the moment they were alone. The little golden canine didn't seem to be aggressive, just hyper, so slowly she began to relax.
"I'm a hyena. I travel and wander around. What about you? You're a little dog. Are you part of a big group of dogs? Do they live around here?"

The pup skidded to a halt and just panted happily looking up at the so called 'Cigende Hyena'. She had heard mention of what a hyena was once, but hadn't really been paying attention to the details. Hyena was just a funny sounding word really.
"You're a Hyena then?" The wild dog tilted her head so far to the side she almost fell over, "I'm a wild dog , and yes, there are a lot of us about," The pup puffed her chest out proudly. "I never seen a real hyena before. " The female smiled proud of her self.
"So.. what do hyena's do? Are you a prey? Or do you live like wild dog? Are there more of you around?" The questions popped out of the pups maw faster then she could think of them. That tail just kept wagging.

"No I'm not a prey!" Cigende yelped quickly. "Not a prey. No no no." She spun in place in her worry, a habit she had picked up over the years. "When you see the rest of your pack you tell them that. Not a prey. I'm very big and have sharp teeth and I don't taste good at all."
But a vicious attack still failed to materialize, and she was too tired and sore to keep up the tension for long, so finally she sat down, and even found herself yawning. "I dunno what hyenas do. The ones I've met live in groups, but they don't like me being around. Me, I walk. I hunt, I run from bigger hunters, and I always walk."
But now that she had stopped walking, her stomach was reminding her of other needs, and she peered at the woods hungrily. "Is there good hunting here?"

The wild dog tilted her head, "You're weird." She laughed and pawed at the female.
Really she had no idea why her pack would want to know all those nitty gritty details, but it highly amused her.
" Hunting?" The pup tilted her head, " Probably. Couldn't tell you where though. I just eat whats brought back," The pup wagged her tail.

Cigende didn't really know if she was weird or not, not having a basis for comparison, but she accepted the description without contest. She filed it in her memory for future reference : she was weird.
Pleased to be having a real social interaction, she pawed back at the pup, rolling on her back and wiggling her legs teasingly. "Do you have a name, little yellow dog?" she asked. "I'm Cigende; I think I might've said that already."

The little yellow dog yipped and playfully nipped at the wiggling back legs. Her tail was wagging so fast it could almost lift her up like a helicopter. Almost.
"Yeah, My names Dakarai, but my wolf names Rainingsun. Nice to meet you Cigende~" There was a slight chime to the hyper puppies sentence. This dog was a happy go lucky kinda dog , that was sure.
"Did you walk all this way to play with me?" The pup yipped.

Wriggling on her back on the grass to avoid the nips, Cigende completely forgot about her aching muscles and empty belly for the moment, and just dove gleefully into a full blown play romp. She snapped her jaws in Rainingsun's direction, and whooped a hyena cackle.
"I mostly walk to get away from lions," she gasped in between wriggles, "but if I knew there'd be someone to play with, I would've walked faster!" She wagged her head teasingly at the little pup. "I didn't know wolves got two names. Doesn't that get confusing?"

The little yellow dog barked with approval , "So you didn't walk all this way on purpose? Hmm, guess the lions were just guiding you to play with me, " The puppy chuckled as she darted from side to side in a strange leaping motion. Barking and yipping as she went.
The fact that the other was in any kind of pain or hungered was a concept beyond the little yellow dog. She had not yet felt the harsh reality that was life.
But for now she was content being a sheltered hyper hound.
"So, " The pup sat up and peered at the hyena, "How do you laugh like that?"

Flipping over, Cigende mimicked Rainingsun's motions, weaving back and forth quickly and clicking her teeth in play-aggression. She tried to go low on her haunches, but her joints were too sore for that, so she settled for towering over the little dog, puffing up her chest to appear even larger.
"It's easy, I just do it like this." Rearing her head back, she let out a booming cackle that echoed off the trees. But then she remembered the possibility of other dogs in the vicinity, and her voice trailed off to a timid chuckle, and she peered around timidly until the echo faded. "That's how hyenas do it. We don't bark; we laugh." Puzzlement crossed her face as she poked at her memories of her species. "I don't know what we're laughing about, though."

The wild dog took a step back and grinned. She could laugh, but not like that. This new discovery was the most amazing one yet... today.
"Like this?" The wild dog let her head go back, but her laughter was not near as impressive as the hyenas. There was something very different about how the hyena laughed. Something that seemed it wasn't meant to be copied.
The dog frowned, annoyed she wasn't able to grasp such a cool laugh.
