Phenex looked overat Tempo and hissed again as he was breathed on. "I've been around books my whole life and i know them pretty well. Are you saying your not an a** hole?" He asked as he glowered at the male and lowered his head closer to Kai's. He didn't like that he was being so mean around such a nice girl and what made it worse was that Phenex didn't know what the hell he was doing...he didn't know how to fight and this girl was younger then he was so how could she know much about fighting. He looked at her for a moment and wondered what he would do if this male really tried to fight him.
Spicy Marmalade! Now that it's exploded into being, seize hold of this evening's chance.

Tempo smirked at the younger male slyly, curious as to what the male was trying to do. Pick a fight? How amusing.
"Oh no, I dont claim that I'm not an a*****e--but currently, how would you know whether I was or not? All because I was listening to you, and came to say hello? Sounds a little judgmental to me," a slight pout crossed Tempo's features, a false one...but a decently good one nevertheless.
His dual-colored eyes lowered to the young female, narrowing slightly and wrinkling his nose in curiosity. Did this kid even know the girl? He liked the kid's spunk, honestly, and to protect a female he'd never met--very adult of him. But now, he wanted to know how far the tom would go for this unknown female.
"But if I'm not mistaken--you seem to be challenging me. What if I said this was my territory, little kitten? That you're trespassing." Of course he was lying, but his territory was decently close to this area...not that he'd kick anyone out, he wasn't that cruel. Curiosity was just getting the best of him at this point.
Kaikara's ears lowered, feeling safe beneath the male she barely knew...as to why she did, she couldn't put her finger on...but...the female knew that Phenex wouldn't let this older tom hurt her.
And she was thankful for that.
Growling at Tempo, she bristled a bit more, nails extending and digging into the soft dirt beneath her. When the younger male's head lowered closer to her own, she scooted back a bit beneath him, looking distressed and beginning to panic. Kaikara didn't want to fight, didn't want to see anyone hurt--but she would rip this tom's face off if she had to.
"Phenex dont get yourself hurt.." She whispered, looking up at him with her multi-colored eyes. She'd feel horrible if he got hurt because of her.

Phenex raised his head and puffed him self. "I'm sorry for judging so quickly. If i was in your territory i would happily take Kai and leave but I didn't smell anything telling me to keep out and my territory is not far from here as it is. If your really not an a** then i would have thought that you would have announced your self and not surprised us like you wanted to attack us or just scare us which i assume you had been aiming for." He said as he glanced at Kai. He wondered what was making him protect her but he was sure it was mostly cause he was around someone new...and she was kinda cute. He looked at Tempo and tried not to look upset that this seemed to be getting towards a fight. "If you want us to leave we will. But forgive us for jumping to conclusions when you appear our of no where and scare us into being defensive."

Chuckling at how defensive Phenex was, he shook his head a bit and shifted back to a crouching position, not wanting to be off guard in case this got bad. "All right, tough guy. What do you plan to do if I dont let you out of here so easily? You have been pretty rude to me.." His tone had picked up some sarcasm, and he couldn't help it. Tempo was quite amused with how this male was acting around the female.
And the female was just making him chuckle.
"I'm Tempo, by the way," he purred, slowly beginning to move to pace in front of them, circling them partially, "Master of the nearby territory. This isn't quite my lands, but you seem quite aggressive, and I dont appreciate the rude greeting."
Kai's ears dropped back to her skull, and she slowly scooted out from beneath the male. Growling towards the strange male--or, rather, the older strange male, she stood behind Phenex, puffed up, and tail straight out behind her. Her body posture showed that she was ready for a fight if need be, not that she'd prefer to.
Shifting a bit to scoot a bit closer to Phenex when Tempo began to circle them, she dropped her head just beneath the male's jaw, head close, body close...she was quite uncomfortable right now, but doubted they could make a run for it.
"We're not here to pick a fight, go away." Huffing, Kaikara gave a light hiss, baring her razor-sharp teeth. Kitten teeth were the worst to mess with.

Phenex glowered at the male and huffed at him. "Well why does it matter then this isn't your land then! I can be aggressive you if i want to be cause this isn't your land! Why does it matter?! You came off as aggressive first and surprised us. Does it matter if i want to keep myself and a defenseless kit out of danger from a male who looks like hes up to no good?" He asked with a growl as he felt Kai get next to him. He shifted to face the male better and slashed his tail about his feet in agitation. He didn't care what the males name was and wasn't sure if he wanted to tell him his own name.

A low growl left him at the other male's aggressiveness. How irritating. Now he really was beginning to get angry. Narrowing his eyes, his own tail began to swish around behind him, and his fans were bared in warning.
"Dont speak to me in such a way. It's rude, and I know for a fact I'm older than you. Respect your elders," Tempo growled lowly, the growl rolling into a hiss. The forest cat was usually very docile, but right now he was quite bothered, and how the male was acting wasn't helping...the female's posture was making him mad as well.
"If I were you, runt, I'd stand down before you get yourself into trouble."

Phenex didn't move but didn't get any more defensive. "I'm not backing down but i'd rather not fight you. I don't care how old you are i don't need to be bossed around by anyone i don't know! I'm not part of your territory and i don't belong to you and i'm not your child so i don't need to do as you say. If you stop being a d**k i'll stop being so defensive! Then you wont have to worry about getting in a bad mood when you started it in the first place." Phenex didn't know what had come over him...he wasn't like this and was never mean to anyone before. He looked over at Kai and wondered why she was making him act more...mean then he normally would towards anyone.

"I might not be your parent, kid, but you're in need of some serious discipline," now he was just pissed off. This kid was so rude, so bothersome...Tempo hadn't even come in aggressively. It's just how he acted, honestly.
Huffing at the two of them, he took a false swipe at Phenex, giving him a warning to either fight or run. "You'd rather not fight me, but you're not going to let your guard down and back off...I like that, kid. You're strong. But I think it's mostly just being headstrong," he growled, watching as Kai hissed at him again, which made him chuckle dryly, darkly.
It wasn't often that Tempo got angry. Maybe today was just an off day for him...after all the s**t that had been happening in the territory and the drama between whoever and whatever. A little bit of a spar with some kittens would cool his temper a bit...not that he planned to hurt either of them, whether they got a swipe in at him or not.

Phenex glared at him and growled. He pulled back just a tiny bit when he swiped at him and hissed. "Why cant you leave? We were here first doing nothing when you came over and had to cause a problem." He wanted to run but...he...he wanted to be strong. He didn't like the look of this cat...something about him made his hair stand on end. He lowered his head and slashed his tail, ears back as he looked at him. "I don't think theres anything wrong with my discipline! Who says i have listen to anyone i don't want to listen to. Theres no law that says i have to grovel at your feet when we just met just cause your older then either of us!" he said as he looked at Kai. "Do you want to leave or defend our right to be here with out him bothering us?" he asked wondering what she wanted to do. He looked at her different colored eyes and felt a blush claim his cheeks wondering why he thought they were cute...

Kaikara snarled when the male took a swipe at Phenex, bristling further and stepping forward to give a swipe of her own. She was a fighter by heart, and she wasn't going to stand for this s**t.
"Back off," she hissed, baring her teeth and folding her ears flat against her scalp. "We dont need to leave! You're being an immature p***k," she snapped, keeping her side pressed to Phenex's. Two cats were better than one, no matter age or experience--in her mind, at least.

Tempo laughed at this. "Cute kittens," he purred at them, the anger settling in his stomach as an uneasy feeling. No way was he going to hurt these kids, but he wanted to see how much fight they had in them.
Growling at them playfully, now taking this up as a game, he reached forward quickly to knock the little female's head with the pads of his fingers, just to get them riled up. Nothing enough to hurt her, of course.
"If you want a fight, I'll be happy to entertain."

Phenex hissed and struck at his hand. "Don't touch her!" He said with a growl, his ears still back. "We didn't want a fight but it seems like you do so if that's how it is you'll get one!" He said with a snarl as he bared his teeth at him. He stepped forward, head low and fur bristled down his back and over his tail. He stepped forward and slashed his tail angrily. Having Kai be so strong right now was helping him keep up his anger, even though ever cell in his body was telling him to run away. He wasn't a good fighter...he was a poet! What had gotten over him! He glanced at Kai to see if she was following his behavior...hoping that she wouldn't come to her senses and turn and run or lay on the ground and give.
