Trista crept slowly into the classroom; she had had a long, tiring day and just wanted it to be over with. She plopped herself down in the nearest seat and waited for more students to arrive.

Mitsu yawned a but, smiling to Trista as she sat down. Meldoy it seemed was busy up in her office so she didn't bother wondering what she was up to.

"What do you think she has planned for this lesson?

---

Meldoy grinned, eyes sparkling. It took convincing but she managed to bring in two civil war soldiers from opisite sides from Gettysburg to here. Yes her class was going to be amazingly fun she was sure.

"Hopw things go as planned." She said softly.

Trista smiled back at Mitsu. "I'm not sure, really. Do you have any idea?" Trista asked the girl sweetly, letting out a slight yawn as well.

"I'm not sure, i just know she's got something planned thoughfor the class. Something big with the civil war." she said before pulling out a cinomon roll.

"Want a snack? I got a whole box full",she said pulling out a box of different finger food treats."

Trista waved off the offered treats. "No, thank you." She looked forward to watch the professor. "Seems a bit empty.." Trista glanced around the room in amazement at its emptiness.

"It is." She said curiously before setting her treats away. "I wonder if everyone got sick or something..."

"Perhaps." Trista glanced around once more, then let out a loud and obnoxious yawn.

She said, grinning at the two.

Trista groaned slightly. There were very few wars that she was interested in and the Civil War was not one of them. However, she nodded as the professor announced the assignment, and decided that she might as well ask some kind of question to get the notes started. "What were the conditions of the war like, and how was everything fought?" Trista figured she might as well start out simple and see if the information turned into anything more complex.

Ginger knocked on the door and walked in quietly. "Sorry I'm so late, professor. I got held up," She muttered, sliding into an empty seat.

"Don't worry none Ginny. we're asking real civil war ghosts what it was like." Melody said smiling.

The ghost looked to her and spoke in a southern accent. "now ya see here young miss the conditions of the war were not the greatest. We used cannons and shot guns, we only had three shots available before reloading our weapons. it was a bloody time ya see? many died, young men no older then yourself." He said "Ya gotta keep your wits about you in war. General Lee was our greatest general." He said with pride, the union soldier seemed annoyed.

Trista copied down notes on all that the soldier stated. She kept nodding her head as he addressed her. "Do you have any interesting war stories to share with us, sir?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:56 am

"Aye, it be the bloodiest battle of the civil war: Gettysburg. I remember like it was yesterday it was early dawn, both armies had been approaching eachother and we don't know what happened but all at once cannons, loud as thunder and muskets and shot guns all went off, it was maddening so many died. I escaped that battle, helping a few of my wounded, I was so outraged. it was a very dangerous time indeed." Said the confederate. The union ghost spoke up.

"Yeah ever hear thunder go off repeatedly every few seconds, it was like that. Loud. Explosive. Many lives were lost. Youngans too, barely the ripe age of 15, no older then you. So much to live for..."

Mitsu took this down and frowned a bit.

"What exactly caused this war?"

"The civil war began due to 4 major reasons:Sectionalism, Slavery, Economics, and State's Rights.

SECTIONALISM- was when northern and southern states started to refer to themselves as sections

SLAVERY- caused the war due to the debate between states of slavery vs. anti-slavery

ECONOMICS- were a major problem due to the different dependency's on imports and exports; the north wanted a protective tariff (tax) on imported and exported goods as they relied little on them, the south wanted no part of the tariff as they were 90% dependent on imports and exports.

STATES RIGHT'S-were the 4th major cause of the civil war; States Right's were the south's belief that states government should hold more power than federal government.

Those are the reasons. To think we started out united and ended up fighting like little kids. in the end I don't think neither side won really"
