Standing by the quick moving stream that cut through the middle of the forest, Blaise licked his lips nervously. The long wolf swayed back and forth on small, cat-like toes as he stared down at the rippling water. He wasn't thirsty, and he didn't think he needed to cross, but the water made him nervous. It was too quick, too unnatural. He preferred a stagnant pond or puddle, this was too living and cold for his tastes. Then why was he standing there, rocking back and forth, entranced by it's living surface?

In theory he was attempting to find the source of the water, why it moved as it did, the secret of it. Yet in reality the male had no clue. He had simply left his spot sleeping in the midst of the woods less than a half mile away and started walking this way, and stopped. His mind had led him to the river. Now he just waited it to tell him what to do. It was only two to three feet in width, and easily one could pad through without getting their stomach wet. But Blaise didn't feel he needed to. So he just stood, and stared, and rocked as golden rays broke through the canopy of trees about him, bathing the area in high noon's light.

The wild-pelted wolf was dubbed a problem oh, about three years ago. By his own family. A family who loved the colors of midnight, of darkness, of solitude and not the bright, vivid colors splashed across his pelt in skeletal-like markings. He could still remember the looks on their faces, the way they stared. It had haunted him as a youth; why couldn't they accept that he was different.

He realized their dismay when he stared into a puddle and found a wide, toothy grin staring back at him. A demon's grin... A demon's face. But instead of being horrified, it amused him. They were so petty...yet their rejection stung.

So now here he was, a few months later, roaming the forests of Telk with nothing more than a song in his heart as he hummed a jolly little tune. Eyes were crescents of happiness --although the loner's life was a tad lonesome, he was happy.

Pausing to take a breath, he neared the sound of running water. And with the river came a dark-pelted green wolf, streaks upon his legs and not-so-natural looking himself. A vertebre-marked tail gave a wag, ears pricking up. "Hello!" he barked out, on the opposite side of the river than the stranger. Although Raive, fearsome and large, would never attack someone. The idea of fighting horrified the happy wolf.

Finally it seemed his mind was to catch up with him, and Blaise's head shot up, golden eyes flickering about like a deer's before settling on the strange multi-colored thing before him. It wasn't a deer, or a fox, a prey thing like he knew, but it was large and bright, like a patch of flowers.

Stretching his neck out over the water the male's jaw dropped, unable to look away at the strange coloration on the creature which did look like him. But not. Was that possible? He wasn't sure and didn't dwell long on it, but stepping forward in his curious trance, managed to topple head first into the brisk stream.

The lanky wolf let out a bark of surprise, high stepping through the water till he reached the side Raive stood on. Afterwards, with water still dripping from his feet Blaise wasted no time going maw to maw with new wolf, inspecting his pelt at a feverish pace. The long ragged jaws seemed strangely inviting, despite his previous experiences seeing them on wolves he approached.

"New." The simple wolf gushed, the words coming out like he was speaking a new language.

Raive watched him, his tail wagging back and forth, an easy swaying motion. His pale eyes locked onto the stranger's teal and yellow form, surprise lighting them up when the wavering male splashed across the river to Raive's side. Raive stood, long legs holding himself tall, but not tall and overpowering like a dominant. Instead, his body curved around Blaise in a half-circle, tail never stopping. As their maws touched, Raive smiled a true smile and began to sniff the other male's face. "Hello there," he yipped, dropping into a play bow. "I'm Raive." White bangs fell into his eyes and he shook them away.

Oh he liked this one yes he did. Blaise's face broke into a goofy grin at his warm reception, tail and hinds beginning to wiggle around in a doglike delight he seldom saw others long enough to express. Despite his lanky, unkempt appearance and lack of what some would call etiquette, he was really a people person.

He was entranced by this colored beautiful thing, the long grass/fur that grew between it's ears which moved when he did, the giant teeth, always happy and moving as the other voiced his name. Blaise stopped his playful waggle for a moment, cocking his head as he analyzed the words, attempting to formulate an appropriate answer. "B-B-Blaise." He cooed, dropped back to mirror Raive's stance. Raive, it was a Raive. He liked Raives, they made him feel good.

A wet teal paw reached out to bat at Raive, pink tongue lolling from a gay expression.

Raive grinned broadly at the wolf's personality. It shined through his gold eyes, showing the wolf that this one was definitely friendly. Just like him! He let out a soft bark, chest brushing the ground. He was cute, in a bedraggled lone way. But then again, so was Raive. He puffed up a moment, tail never ceasing to wag.

Blaise. He smiled, testing it out on his mind. Blaiiiise. Strange name for a wolf who wasn't fiery at all in looks. Maybe he was a teal flame. Maybe he had an anger problem. Nahhh. As the stranger batted at him, Raive darted back with a yip. He pounced, paws outstretched, a grin plastered on his face. Oh how he'd missed company... He needed a pack, he needed a family. His stomach gave a growl. Suddenly, he sobered and turned to the river-soaked male. "Let's go hunting," he said, ears pricking. The day was still young. Together, they could take down something large. "It's been too long..." He murmured, jolly expression never leaving him. Yellow eyes glittered as he sat down to wait for Blaise's response.

Blaise didn't know how long it had been since he had actually met another wolf, much less one that hadn't tried to fight him or scare him away from his prey good. He didn't like those that wanted his prey good much more than those who wanted to hurt him, he wasn't sure why but it always started out like playing, as he and the Raive were doing. But then it started to get worse, and maybe that was why. He didn't dwell on it too much, but when the Raive stopped and his colors made noise, the wolf stepped back rather than forward, though still curious if they too had a name.

Hunting? Blaise licked his lips in anticipation of the word, ears tipping towards his multi-colored friend as he attempted to match his perpetual toothy grin. Needless to say it wasn't as effortless as the Raive seemed to make it, but it showed his enthusiasm none the less at the idea. Blaise hadn't fed in quite a while, other than a couple of slow mice last he had tried. But of course, he didn't usually go off in search unless his head instructed him too, which ended up being a while after his body required it.

"Long." He parroted softly, shifting his weight on long legs to his left and right paws. Hunting sounded nice.

Raive puffed his chest out and grinned, pink tongue lolling from his mouth for a moment. What a strange wolf... Strange, but friendly, and that's all that mattered, right! His tail gave another short wag and then he darted forwards, nipping Blaise's shoulder before trotting back into the forest. He nodded his head, expecting the teal male to pull up the end, to follow. It had been too long. He wanted a hunting partner; what would be nicer was a hunting partner for-good. A pack that perhaps revolved around him, wolves that he could hunt with and sleep with and play with. He wouldn't be a great alpha, but he would be a loyal one. But could he give up travel, to stay in one place?

As they walked, the ideas sparked. A traveling pack. A circus... Could he lead a circus? He smiled, lost in thought. The smell of a herd of deer pricked his nose and he froze, waving a paw at Blaise. Ears flicked up, listening. They were only a little farther off. His tail wagged. He turned to the other male. "Know how to hunt in Pairs?" he asked, cocking his head to one side.

As the Raive started off, he found himself once more temporarily confused and unsure of the correct course of action. No more play? That couldn't be it. His mind was blank for a minute as the male stared off after the multi-colored Raive. Then he remembered. Oh, hunting!

With a renewed glee the spry legged wolf leapt after his Raive, quickly finding his place in line behind the wolf and almost immediately immersed in watching the bright pink on black of his waving tail.

So entranced was he that he bumped into the back of his friend as he stopped, only then catching the scent of the deer. Working only by himself, Blaise scarcely went after larger game unless the conditions were in his favour, thus not often. At the proposition he gave the Raive a confused look, flopping back onto his haunches.

Soon the other wolf padded behind him, following him and Raive wore a happy, contented smile. It did his heart good to lead the strange teal wolf into success--especially because Blaise didn't seem to get out much. Perhaps he had a vocal handicap that made him stutter... But those wolfgold eyes were intelligent, but young. Youthful. His tail wagged, even as Blaise ran into him. He turned his head, watching the other male. At Blaise's confused glance, he giggled to himself and sat down beside his friend. His paw found the dirt.

"Okay here..." He made a print. "Are the deer. You and me..." Two jagged lines in the dirt. "Are going to take them in a mini-triangle." He drew the angles. "We're going to cut one from the herd, and take it down. I'll go for the throat if you slow it down. Attack it's legs." He sliced his paw across the print, the 'deer' and made an x over the top. "And we both win. Sound good?" Yellow eyes gleamed, nose sniffing. Without awaiting an answer, he hopped to his feet once again and pointed Blaise's path out with a paw. "Keep quiet." Which was almost oxymoron, as the blue wolf didn't talk much anyway. And then he set off for the herd. Oh this was fun, fun fun!

With an intent stare, brows knitted as he attempted to decipher his Raive's patterns, Blaise watched him. Well technically he watched the multi-colored paw, as it's moving and making symbols was the most interesting thing at the time, even though he understood few words. He went, there deer, take down; the gist of it.

With a giddy grin, the scent of the herd rushing past his nose in the slight breeze, the lanky wolf stood hopping silently on his toes. Keeping quiet he knew how to do, most obviously, and was one command he did respond to. Or rather didn't, because he didn't talk.....it was besides the point. The wolf looked the way his Raive's paw pointed. There? What was there? Oh yes, deer. He set off, padding quietly through the underbrush towards the herd.

Raive's heartbeat pounded in his head as he moved, slinking through the forest, tail curved and head lowered. Aimed at the deer, he cast a sideways glance at Blaise, pleased to see him following suit, and quickly together they pulled a deer from the herd.

The rest of them galloped swiftly away but the straggler, a wounded-legged stag with spiked horns, gave a scream. "Now Blaise!" Raive called out, voice rising high with emotion as he chased the beast towards his friend. He was a large wolf, but the buck was much larger. He scrambled out of the way as antlers swung to behead him. His teeth clamped down around the beast's throat, pulled up into the air. Now, Now! he thought to Blaise. Take his legs! He bit down hard and tasted blood, and he wasn't sure if it was his or the deer's.

Following the path his Raive had pointed out almost to a tee, beginning to chase alongside the multi-colored companion as they cut away a wounded prey beast. This was fun! The wolf had never known to have done this before, but it seemed like most of it was ingrained into his mind, without a second thought he understood what he assumed Raive had been talking about. (He still didn't understand most words)

But the sound of his friend barking out, the large head-toothed animal charging closer was almost too much for him, and his tail dipped between his legs as he shrank down. But, it had his Raive. It wasn't allowed to have his Raive, though in reality it was the other way about entirely. Jaws wide the male leaped forward and smashed himself into the deer's hinds, maw clamping down on a back leg as he hopefully brought it off balance to take it down.

The stag let out a bellow, its throat constricting with little air. Raive hung limp like a ragdoll, shaking himself every so often. As Blaise attacked a leg, the stag's knees buckled and it hit the ground with a colliding sound. Raive's paws touched the ground once again, giving him the balance to rip into the stagbeast's throat. Blood billowed out, soaking the ground and his muzzle and the deer fell silent, twitching.

Raive grinned up goofily. "There. You did amazing, Blaise!" he gushed, tail wagging wildly. "Now. We can eat!" And his belly gave a growl of happiness as he dug into the side of the preybeast hungrily.

As soon as the large buck hit the ground the male skirted back quickly, for while the Raive bit into it's throat it's hind feet kicked out sporadically. To say the least, the wolf was in shock for the moment, surveying the kill of the giant animal that only a minute ago was part of the rest of the deer that ran through. It was not dead before, now it was.

Strangely enough the wolf neglected to take into consideration the bleeding marks on it's leg and thighs or the throat torn open, the pooled steaming blood about the body. He looked over to Raive, as though questioning the whole dead-not dead process, but soon forgot about it as she slid in next to him to beginning gorging himself on the meat. It was so tender and rich, it was indeed good meat. A tail thumped eagerly against his partner as he ate, maw covered in flesh and blood.
