Here's my idea for a month long run for a Halloween Contest. I have our lovely, Lady Elmira, working on 3 layouts for the contest. I'm gonna plan one for every month till we decided on a date for the Ball. :Contests:-Art Contest -Raffle -Bump Contest -TekTek/Avatar Contest -Writing Contest Start Date: October 01, 2009. 00:01am EST(or w.e) End Date: October 31, 2009. 11:59pm EST (or w.e) razz rizes for Contests:-Art Contest-1st Place = 1k 2nd Place = 500g 3rd Place = 250g -Raffle-Winner = (uncertain amount) -Bump Contest-First Bump on every 5-10 pages wings 50-250g -TekTek/Avatar/Writing-Most Creative = 3-5k Cutest = 2-4k Scariest = 1-3k We'll charge a certain amount to enter each contest. Like from 100g-500g. So tell me what you think. Add, subtract stuff?

lol deer cheese. the prize is quite small for if ya are charging 100-500g an entry.(maybe maybe not?)
i'd like to ask what the goal of this contest is for. is it to raise funds? attract more people to the guild? is it within the guild's member base or outside of the guild? details details for the why please. can probly get more specific ideas if ya have a reason
as for the prize i'll make a small donation to up it a bit since i'm pretty sure 1k isnt something one would like to win when they can get the same amount if not more from booty grabbing in the time they make their drawing or whatever contest they choose to join. as well as paying an entry fee. <_< lol that an the lowest amount ya specified for the entry fee 1000 - 100 = 900 <---- kinda sad. i assume the contests with larger prizes have a higher entry fee?
as for the bump contest if the goal is to raise funds ya can say when you win a page you can give them credit and give them the option of taking half the credit they earned in pure gold or using their credit to buy art from the guild like a premade or something simple. XD thats just my idea though, not certain how hard that'll be though and should probably get a few artists if we want to do that. prices for these shouldnt be ridiculous either i'm thinking around 1-3k range to make sure it is obtainable through bumping.
you should get a few rules decided as well. such as.......
whether they can have multiple entrys(are those limited)
can they join multiple contests(i.e tektek, writing and draw all at once).
the prize worries me the most since most people like fame and money*whispers*-and possible cute fluffy furry things- least i think thats true O_O *hugs furrys*-squeek-

Lol ok in my defence I was posting this at like 2am this morning. All the numbers aren't set in stone. I basically went with what I would chip in for prizes.
The goal is to attract more people to the guild, raise funds and it's outside of the guild. Why would we hold an event inside? XD
Well since I don't know what we have left over from the funds last year, I was just going off what I had.
If artists want to chip in and give away art as a prize, I'm not gonna stop you. lol. A limitation does sound good. Hoe about 2-3 contests per person? Does that sound fair? And as for item prizes, I'm not made of money, but if we could get donations from people that would be amazing.

I would limit it at three contests, but you can only win one. While I do agree people should be able to participate in a couple, at the same time, it's not fair to people if one person wins, like, three contests, it's not fair to everyone.

i have a bit of gold set aside for the guild already so i'm thinking bout giving a fraction of the lot for this. ya think 100k for this event a bit much or too little considering it'll be split among the contests. though i wonder if we'll really manage to get more then 100k from trying to fundraise in this event unless we actually sell something during the event.
and i know ya probly werent thinking that was gonna be the prize i just felt like pointing out obvious things XD.
ehhhh not nuff time to write stuff right now since i'm about to go home but i'll probly say more stuff later.

Ok I think 100k is a bit much, but that's me. Lol I think 100k is a lot of gold. XD But if you feel that we need more for prizes then I wont stop you, I'll help out too.

XD lol thats only a small bit of what i have spare for the ball. theres still about something set aside and its still increasing slowly sorta.
i kinda wanna run word descramble games during the event XP its educational. XD i kinda like those more then those page post things. as for the prizes i was thinking atleast a minimum of 10k for 1st place. the rest of whats left is for playing around with people during the month so they would stay and chat to keep the thread alive.
that and theres a meebo chat going on right now?

(Sabs) I love this list as a general contests guideline, but I'm sure we could come up with something specialized once we know what the actual event is. One idea (just off the top of my head) is that if we used the tektek contest, we could make it a halloween themed beauty pageant. You know, have totally random costume-y stages. And if we decide on a tektek contest for anything, Angel's held her own before.
I'm kinda tired, so I'll sleep on that and try and have more opinions instead of just agreeing and stating the obvious. XD
