Has anyone ever gotten to be in the first group to ever preform a piece? If so, did you enjoy it? We have a composer in one of my choirs right now and we are doing one of his original piece, we did one last year too. His stuff is really good.

Oh yes! I love doing original work. My director in high school was a composer, so we did a few of his pieces, though they were usually simpler, so he would have the freshman choir sing them instead of Chamber Singers. He wrote the senior song almost every year for graduation, except my year. We had a few people in our class who composed, so Tyson wrote ours. Which was really awesome. We also commissioned a song by Ben Allaway several years ago when the choir was given the honor of performing before the Dalai Lama, and last year for State Contest we commissioned him again to expand it. We wanted to do a whole new piece, but time wouldn't allow for that, so we just added some new sections in and revamped Walking Songs. We did the world premier at State Contest. It was sooo amazing! I love that song! I need to bug Steighner for a recording. hmm, maybe I'll wait till I get back for Christmas.

That is so cool. We had our choir concert tonight and sang the Morse piece (thats the guys name that composes in my choir) and it went really well. You got to sing for the Dhali Lama? That is so awesome. I miss traveling and singing in competitions. My choir now pretty much just does the one concert every semester, and we dont travel. We were going to but out trip was canceled because not enoug people could go. crying
