Who: Lucia and Melisande
When: Late morning (11am-ish)
Where: A park and large field
Weather: Sunny and bright -- not too warm, but not cold

Lucia didn't know what lengths Yuurei went to in order to get Melisande's phone number, but she was glad she did. The picnic wasn't really a picnic. Lucia didn't eat. She drank occasionally, but that was typically only really watery and thin drinks. It was more of a game. Lucia carried a basket filled with different colored pieces of paper and air-less colorful balloons. In it were also some colorful pens, stickers, and stamps. Lucia had read about this game in a craft book Yuurei bought her and thought Melisande would appreciate it. The girls were supposed to write and decorate messages to friends and family on the pieces of paper, stick them in the balloons, and give the balloons to their friends to pop and get the messages out.

The sun was high in the sky and, as the kitten laid out the large pink and purple blanket, she thought it was perfect weather for this. Not too hot so that the raevans would be uncomfortable, but also not so cold that they couldn't sit on the blanket in the sun. She pulled out the pens, stack of paper, and a few of the balloons. Hopefully Meli would think this was a neat activity and not lame. Lucia shrugged internally. They were at a park. If this was stupid or they finished quickly, there was always other things to do and ways to get in trouble.

The kitten smiled at she saw a pretty blonde floating towards where Lucia had laid out a large pink and purple blanket. She waved to Pasha, a smile lighting up her face. "Hiii!" she called out sing-songey to the musical raevan, waving to the pretty sigel.

It wasn't difficult to spot Lucia, she was soaking up the sun like a kitten in a sunbeam. Melisande smiled, and waved back with her free hand. It had been a surprise to get a call from Lucia and Yuurei, but definitely a welcome one. Over her arm, Pasha carried a a white umbrella and a little picnic basket, which bobbed as she hurried forward. Setting them both in the grass near the blanket, Melisande opened her arms and beamed, hoping Lucia would like to give her a hug. "Hiii!"

The loose sleeves of her white peasant blouse seemed almost see through, ethereal and gauzy. She'd belted the thin shirt at the waist with a pink cinch to give it a nice shape, and the wide neckline showed off her slim shoulders without plunging too deeply. With her hair secured in a fall of curls over one shoulder, and the flowers at her temples fully open and ruffling in the breeze, Meli looked like the picture of summer fashion.

"It's so good to see you, Lucia! And look at all of the things!!"

Lucia floated up and into the sigel's open arms. She wrapped her arms around Meli in a hug. "You look so pretty!" she said with a grin as released the blonde. It had been a while since she had seen Pasha, but the soft-spoken raevan seemed so familiar. Lucia grinned when Melisande noticed her planned activity.

"I wasn't sure if you'd like it. But I figured we could write notes to our friends and send them in balloons," she shrugged. It had seemed like something Pasaha would enjoy. "We can use all of this pretty paper, and decorate it like we want. Then we'll put it in a balloon, blow up the balloon and give it to everyone with a note to pop the balloon and read the message." She paused, looking at Meli's face to see if she liked the idea.

Lucia looked at the things that her friend had brought. A white umbrella and another picnic basket. The kitten cocked her head to the side, a smile playing on her lips. "What have you brought?" she asked with a curious blink of her eyes.

Pasha returned the hug gently, absently making sure she hadn't crushed Lucia's lovely hair. Setting down the picnic basket gently, Melisande gasped at the idea of the balloons. "Oh, I would like that!" She could almost see it, a perfect pink balloon floating up up up, and Zave leaning over the edge of the building to catch it, and pop! Heart shaped confetti! Secret notes! Poetry! Blushing a bit, eyes bright, Melisande blinked until the daydream vanished. "It sounds like a lot of fun."

Holding up her umbrella, Melisande pulled the ribbon to untie it and pushed it gently open. The white ruffles spread into a rather large canopy, and she held it closer to the kitten Frei. Bright shade covered them both, cutting the heat of the sun, but none of the light. "I brought my sun umbrella..." She gave it a quick twirl, demonstrating how the ruffles flared, before handing it to Lucia to try. "And I brought Alto!"

Something grunted from within the shade of the picnic basket, and Melisande giggled. "He's sleeping. That's kind of all he does." She patted the top of the basket gently, but didn't open it. "I'm sorry I didn't bring any stickers or paper, but thank you for inviting me. And..."

Again, a blush, but it looked like a summer kiss on Melisande's cheeks. "...you look pretty too!!"

Purple eyes went wide as the umbrella sprung open and Pasha demonstrated it's twirl. As Lucia twirled the pretty umbrella herself, she thought about what she would write in the balloons. In contrast to Pasha's lovey dovey day dream, the kitten pictured a black shriveled balloon being delivered to Rivener full of itching powder and a note that said, "You're a jerk." She smirked at the image of his hurt reaction when he realized how upset she was and the phone call or - no - the visit that he would make, begging for her forgiveness. And of course asking for the cure to the itching powder.

"What's an Alto?" she asked, being drawn back to the field. She looked at the basket and really didn't get it. Was it the basket? Was an Alto in the basket? She placed the umbrella down still open in a way that it provided shade for both raevans. Grinning as the Sigel apologized for not bringing supplies, she shrugged, but her smile lit up her face when the older raevan said she was pretty too. She had always admired the pleasant nature of Pasha, and was reminded of why she liked her.

"So why don't we choose one person at a time and both write a note to them! We can write to everyone! And don't worry if I don't know the same people you do. You're older than me and know more people. So we can just help each other when not writing." Pulling out a piece of light green paper, she handed the stack of colorful paper to her companion. "Who should we write to first?!"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:29 am

She didn't know what Lucia was thinking about, but the little smile she had reminded Pasha of her pirate brother. How wonderful! Sinking down closer to the blanket, Melisande stared at all the options and tried to think. Who first?

"Alto is my pet! He's just a baby, so he likes baskets." She patted the lid, and something in the darkness grunted again, but didn't stir. Maybe they could write to Zave first? No, that was selfish, and besides...Pasha wanted to learn how to make a really good one before writing to him! Maybe to Sevvie?

"Oh, perhaps we could make one for Laz first! Since he was the first Raevan? At least, he's the first Raevan I ever saw!!" She didn't reach for the paper, instead, Meli watched Lucia's face for a reaction. Aki had taught her to do that, and it was a useful tip!

Lucia smiled a little at Melisande’s vague explanation of Alto. Was it like Sammy, Yuurei’s butterflox? It didn’t seem like it would fly around the park, annoying the crap out of her, but then again, Sammy didn’t either when she slept.

When the blonde raevan suggested Lazarus, Lucia shook her head slightly. ”I actually haven’t met him yet, though I have heard about him. If you want you can write to him and I can help since I know how to do it, or we could choose someone else. Do you know Xiu, Sevilin, or Vyn? or I met Zave and you know him!”

The dark haired frei pulled aside a deep red, a soft blue and a silvery grey piece of paper, prepared to write to whoever Pasha declared appropriate. They would eventually get to everyone, but they did have to start somewhere.

Melisande lit up at the list of names. "I know everyone but Xiu! Perhaps we can start with Xiu for practice, and we can put in an invitation for us all to meet together?" It was a risky idea, but Pasha was much more open to meeting new Raevans than she used to be. Many of them were very nice!

"Which color do you think...for Xiu? Can you tell me more about them?" She didn't even know which gender pronoun to use! Perhaps Xiu was like Sevvie, free to do their own thing. Melisande ran her fingers lightly over the paper choices, and pushed a lovely dark purple one out of the stack.

"I would pick this one for you!!"

Lucia pulled aside the piece of silvery grey paper she had pulled out. “That sounds fine! I’ll use this silver color for him.” she paused, looking through the colorful paper and pulled out a blue similar to Xiu’s eyes. ”This one would be good for him! Ohhh!!! For people we don’t know, unless it’s something really special we could put two notes in one balloon: one for the stranger to meet the other and one friendly note. And then we can make our own individual ones for friends and send them two each.” She looked at Pasha for a response as to whether she liked the idea or not. ”Oh that color is awesome!” she said, looking at the purple appreciatively. Her eyes twinkled as she secretly scoped out a pretty soft pink and planned on writing a note to her friend as a surprise. After all, what fun would it be if Pasha didn’t get a surprise balloon too!

“Well,” she said, thinking about the time she met Xiu. ”I only met him when he was pretty young, but he was really nice and helpful. He helped me save a little girl. He was quiet and trusting.” She paused again, trying to remember their adventure. ”And he can see when people are thinking bad thoughts. So I guess he’s a good guy.” The kitten grinned at her conclusion. Xiu had comic book hero skills without all the muscle. ”He’s cool. I’m sure you’d like him.”

She pulled out a silver gel pen for Meli to use on the blue paper and a blue pen for her to use on the silver paper. In tight but stylized handwriting, Lucia wrote to Xiu:

Hey Xiu! It’s been a while. How have you been since we vanquished evil and saved the little girl? We should totally hang out soon and you should meet my friend Meli here. She’s really nice. I learned how to modify clothing since I saw you! If you ever want a piece of clothing you bought to have wing holes or some sweet new decorations, let me know. Love, Lucia

The kitten finished, dotting the “i” in her name with an x and slid the paper in front of Pasha for inspection. ”Cool?” she asked.[
PostPosted: Sat Oct 17, 2009 1:40 pm

Lucia had quite a bit to say! Cheeks pink, Melisande just nodded, trying to follow along with all of it. Xiu was nice, he was quiet, and he was good! That was about all she absorbed. Accepting the blue paper and the gel pen, she offered Lucia her brightest smile.

"Cool!" She'd never used the word before, it made her feel like she was special like Lucia. Twisting around to lay on her stomach, ribbon curling against the blanket, Melisande nibbled on the cap while she pondered what to write.

Dear Xiu~

Ooh, the silver pen was so pretty on the blue paper! Pasha leaned to the side for a moment, taking a peek at Lucia's note for guidance. "I like your writing! Mine is different~"

Meli's hand was delicate and tall, with oval loops and dipping tails. She thought Lucia's looked very stylish, right down to the little x over the i. Tapping her lips with the pen, she pondered for a moment longer before continuing to write.

A new friend can be hard to find,
but I'd like to get to know you, if you don't mind!
Lucia says you are kind and sweet,
you sound like someone I'd like to meet~

Wishes, Melisande

Finishing the note with a flourish to her signature, Melisande took a moment to draw something in the corner...two little birds in flight, like the kinds around them in the park. She blew on it gently, waiting for the ink to dry, before presenting it to Lucia.

"What do you think? This is fun! After we finish this one, maybe we can do one for Sevvie?"

Lucia looked over Pasha’s pretty handwriting and exclaimed, ”That’s awesome! It’s a poem!” She smiled happily; she had definitely chosen the right friend to do this with. Meli had a wonderful way of writing. ”Why don’t we write all of our notes now to people we know, then we can write to the people we don’t know and package them all up.”

The kitten tried to think about every raevan she knew: Roux, Rivener, Eiry, Zave, Sevi, Zul, Lulu, and Vyn. She didn’t want to write to Roux, but everyone else could get a note. Rivener would definitely be last.

Sevilin was first Pasha said. Pulling over a sea-blue sheet of paper, she grabbed a purple pen, a color that she was pretty sure the fairy girl would appreciate.

Hey Sevilin! I hope you are feeling better and that your fight with LuLu didn’t leave you too broken. Girls fight sometimes. We should go out sometime and get to know each other. She glanced at the confetti she had brought to put in the balloons. Enjoy the green and blue sparkles in the balloon! Love, Lucia

Moving on, Lucia pulled out a light green sheet of paper and a deep red pen, colors that would suit Eiry.
Dear Eiry, I hope you are feeling better. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to help you, but Rivener told me you were doing well. Maybe we can hang out sometime and have some misadventure. Here is my cell phone number. Love, Lucia

That looks good, she thought. She pulled out a navy sheet of paper and a light blue pen that would really show up and look pretty against the darker hue.

Dear Zave, It has been a long time since I showed you how to limbo. Have you gotten any better? You should show me something you are good at sometime. Maybe me, Meli, and you can chill sometime soon. Love, Lucia

On a light yellow sheet of paper, Lucia wrote:
Dear Zul, This color reminded me of your fiery hair. I really loved talking to you at the pool and the going to the aquarium. We should hang out again soon! You’re a lot of fun. Love, Lucia

The kitten grinned. She was definitely moving through these letters. LuLu was next. She tried to think of the right color for LuLu. Her blonde hair and ears were a color she could play off of, but the bunny’s purple eyes were so close to the color of her own. Pulling out a soft purple sheet of paper, Lucia grabbed a yellow gel pen and wrote:
Hey LuLu! I hope you are feeling better now after your fight. I really liked meeting you and we should totally hang out sometime. Your ears are awesome! I need to see my "bestest friend" again soon! Love, Lucia

Three more to go: Vyn, Rivener, and Meli. She glanced at her friend who was deeply involved in a letter she was writing. Pulling aside that soft pink sheet of paper, Lucia wrote in a pretty off-white gel pen:

Dear Meli, I’m so glad you came with me today to write out these notes. I hope you’re having fun and we should see each other again soon. Let me know when you’re available. Love, Lucia

Lucia quickly folded up that sheet of paper, hiding it beneath her small stack of already written notes. Pulling aside a deep red sheet of paper Lucia wrote:

Hey Vyn! We so need to get together, exchange the necklace, and work on our jackets! Give me a call so we can hang out and mod the stuff. You can come over my house or I could bring my stuff to you! It’s up to you. Let me know! Love, Lucia

One more to write, Lucia thought anger flaring up a little as she thought about what Rivener did to her. She grabbed a dark gray sheet of paper and a red pen and began writing.

Rivener. You are the meanest person I know. I can’t believe I ever liked you. Lucia sighed softly and bit her lip, her eyes downcast. She would never love again. I hope you’re happy with how you acted and enjoy your time with whoever it is you like. I hope she doesn’t mind that she likes a jerk. Love (or NOT), Lucia

The kitten sighed again, but wouldn’t let the scorpion ruin her mood again. ”Finished!” she said to Pasha and glanced over to see how much progress her friend made.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 17, 2009 5:11 pm

"I think that would be great!" Lucia's energy was contagious. Still smiling, Melisande pulled out a piece of sea green paper, and picked a silver pen from the pile. Sevilin was next!

Dear Sevvie,

You're as pretty and playful as the sea,
Thanks for being such a good friend to me!

Love,
Pasha

Folding it carefully, Pasha added it to her stack. She decided to do Vyn next, and then Zave. Even thinking of Zave made her cheeks a bit pinker, she would definitely need some time to think about what to write! Picking a piece of dark pink paper and a black pen, she started on Vyn's note with a smile.

Dear Vyn,

I had so much fun with you that summer day,
We should take our puppies out to the park to play!

See you soon,
Meli

Even as she folded it, her mind was already on the next note. Picking the cleanest, brightest piece of white paper she could find, Melisande spread it out in front her of...curls hiding her eyes as she looked down at it. The pen she picked was pale pink...maybe not one of Zave's colors, but hopefully it would make him think of her.

Dearest Zavier,

I watch the clouds go by,
and all I can think of is you,
when the wind kisses your cheek,
I hope you think of me too.

Love,
Melisande

She took a moment to draw something in the corner of this one as well, a few spidery branches in the corner, with little blossoms clinging to them. Pasha hummed to herself as she drew a few petals floating free, and carefully made one of the petals look like a heart. Smiling, proud of her work, she folded it and set it carefully in the pile.

"I'm going to write one to Laz, and one to Rivener. They will both be on red, I hope they don't get mixed up!"

True to her word, Melisande picked two pieces of dark red, but she used a black pen for Riv's and a gold pen for Laz's.

To: Rivener

I hope this note finds you well,
This is for fun, in case you can't tell.

Melisande

Laz's note was just as quick.

Dear Laz,

I haven't seen you in quite a while,
but I hope this note makes you smile!

Best,
Meli

"Oh! I should write one to Lucretia too! Do you know her? She always reminded me of Roux, with the color blue she wears, but she isn't like him at all." It had been a long time since she'd thought of Roux. They used to be such good friends, but she could only remember the last time she'd seen him, at karaoke. He'd been so cold when she didn't hug him, but she was scared! Pushing the thoughts aside, Melisande jotted a quick note to the other icy raevan.

Dear Lucretia,

Roses are blue,
Ice cream is pink,
We should meet again soon,
That's what I think!

-Meli

It seemed like Lucia was writing to more people than Melisande knew! Taking a peek at the names, she made sure to write a few short notes to the people she'd never met. For the first one, she picked the opposite colors Lucia did, with a red piece of paper, and a bright green pen.

Dear Eiry,

Lucia is writing to you as well, so
You're probably someone I should get to know!

Let's meet soon,
Melisande

She didn't know Zul or Lulu either, but Melisande didn't want anyone to feel left out. For Zul, she used an orange piece of paper and a red pen, and for Lulu, a gold piece of paper and a purple pen, still playing off Lucia's color selection.

Dear Zul,

I wonder if you'd like to play
In the park together someday!

I hope to make your acquaintance,
Melisande

Dear Lulu,

I think your name is very neat,
I hope someday that we can meet!

Best,
Melisande

Almost finished! Though she had no idea that Lucia had written one for her, she realized it would be nice to write one for Lucia too. But they were already together, what could she say? Instead, Melisande drew a picture of a little kitten, playing near a flower, and folded it up with the rest. On the front of the folded part, she wrote 'To Lucia' and set it aside.

"That was a lot of writing!" It was true, her hand was even a little sore! "I can't wait to put them together, what do we do first? Maybe you could do the first one, and I could watch you?"

Lucia mimicked Melisande’s copying of foreign names. Grabbing a gold sheet of paper and a dark red pen she wrote:

Hi Laz, I haven’t met you but Pasha seems to think you’re awesome. We should hang out sometime soon. Love, Lucia

Lucia had only met Lucretia once, but she had been a royal b***h, so she certainly wasn’t extending a hello to her. When Pasha had finished, the kitten pulled out the notes for Xiu that they had written. ”Because you don’t know him your note can go in the same balloon as mine.” She pulled out a silver balloon from the package of multicolor balloons. She reached in her basket, grabbed the large funnel she brought for their project and slipped the skinnier end in the balloon. ”The funnel will help up get everything in,” she explained. Slipping her own blue note in, quickly followed by Melisande’s silver one, Lucia grinned and looked over the confetti and sparkles she had brought. There were red hearts, all different colored stars mixed together and every color imaginable of glitter. Reaching for the glitter, she grabbed two different color blues and a silver and placed a pinch of each into the funnel. Lucia watched as the glitter slid and fell into the balloon. Pulling out the funnel she grinned and picked up the balloon, smiling at it’s heavier weight. It had worked! ”See! First we put everything in. Then we blow up the balloon and write ‘Pop Me!’ on it so they pop the balloon and the sparkles and notes fall out.” Lucia wrapped her lips around the end of the balloon and blew a few times into the balloon until it was fully blown up. Quickly tying a knot in the end she handed it to Meli. ”Why don’t you write ‘pop me’ on it?” she asked also passing over a large packet of colored sharpies.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 18, 2009 1:42 pm

Melisande watched as the notes and confetti slid into the balloon. How clever!! She accepted the blown up balloon with both hands, handling it carefully as though she feared it might pop any moment.

"You want...me to write it? Okay!" It seemed like an important duty, after all, it would be the first thing the person saw! Taking the fat sharpie, she popped the cap and wrote in clear, slow letters

POP ME
please

After all, it always paid to be polite. As soon as she finished, she turned the balloon to Lucia for approval. This wasn't hard at all! Setting that one aside, Melisande started on her own balloons...first handing over the notes that were addressed to people she hadn't met before. It seemed like a good idea to combine those with Lucia's!

For Sevvies, she made sure to use all kinds of lovely colors, and a bunch of glitter. The rest of her balloons were a bit more moderate, with a pinch of glitter in a contrasting color, and a few hears and stars to make it festive. When she got to Zave's, though, Pasha took her time...carefully picking red heart shaped confetti out of the pile and adding only those.

When she got to Riv's, Melisande paused, looking at the options. While she didn't want to hurt his feelings by leaving him out, she certainly didn't want to give him any hearts. Instead, she picked all the stars out of the pile, and only added those. She also neglected to write 'please' on his balloon, figuring the nicety wouldn't matter much anyway.

"This was a fun idea, thank you for inviting me!" She only chatted when they weren't concentrating. Getting everything in the funnel without spilling was hard! "I think I'm almost done, how about you?"

From inside Meli's basket, something snuffled and grunted. Eyes wide, Pasha held the funnel with one hand, peeking under the lid with the other. "Alto, I'm sorry! It's almost time for you to go out!"

Lucia grinned at Meli’s polite “please” at the bottom. ”It’s perfect!” she said, handing over Lazarus’s note for the sigel to include in her balloon. The kitten continued creating her balloons, trying to match the glitter, stars and balloons to match the writing and paper color.

”I’m all set! I should probably get going, but give me your balloons and I’ll drive around with Yuurei, leaving the balloons at everyone’s houses. Would that be okay?” she smiled as she began packing up the supplies after pulling out a large purple duffle bag that she placed her balloons in, separating them by the person. It wouldn’t be hard to know which was for who, each were all so differently decorated just for the raeven recipient.

"Oh!" Lucia said, picking up the pink balloon with silver, red, and pink glitter, a variety of stars and hearts. "This one's for you!" she said with a grin.
