It had been ages since they'd made a trip down to the beach, and Nandeli was itching for a relaxing morning. All work and no play makes a goldrider a dull girl, or so the saying went. And if it didn't go that way then she was quite happy to change it. Whoever said you couldn't reinvent what already existed? Regardless, she hadn't been assigned any work, and she was happy to convince Reneneth that they should spend their free time basking in the warm Ista sun. The gold didn't seem too adverse to the idea. After all, they weren't going far enough away. If they were needed, they would be called.

With her shoes in her hand, Nandeli walked along the edge of the waves, allowing the tide to wash over her feet every time it came in. Reneneth was swimming lazily in the ocean, the adult gold seemingly enjoying herself immensely. Every now and then, the Nose would glance out at her dragon, but her mind frequently drifted back to the Weyr's gossip. Apparently, Favan had finally got her wish to be Weyrwoman, but it hadn't exactly been the Weyr of her dreams. She'd heard all kinds of stories about Igen since the older goldrider had been transferred there. Apparently they had brutal gangs and they fed all ineligible candidates to the whers! It sounded like quite the place. She'd like to visit it one day.

I do not believe they would know what to do with you, Mine. Reneneth had settled near the shore and was watching her rider walk.

Nandeli just laughed.

Lady Nandeli and Lady Dragon were not the only ones enjoying the relaxing air of the beach. A bit further down the shore and about knee-deep in the crystal waters stood a former miner of Crom, now a candidate of two turns. Govind, too, had not been assigned any labor by the Masterso he had taken the opportunity to escape the over-crowded walls of Ista. To enjoy some time away from lessons and the like.

Inhaling the scent of salt, he smiled and brushed away black bangs that insisted on hanging in his eyes despite the the constant breeze. Too tempted to let his mind wander yet the call back could come at a moments' notice.

A flash of blue against his blind spot flicked his eyes upward, watching as a dark-blue watchdragon winked out of between and flew towards the Weyr walls. Hm...Govind let a small frown touch pale lips before he turned and walked back towards the sands, where his sandals were waiting along with a small bag of little whatnots and things.

Aaaah, the sun felt nice!

Nandeli paused in her walk to stretch, enjoying the warmth against her skin. Some people said Ista was too hot, but she attributed that to the fact that said people tended to come from places that had snow. She'd never seen snow before, but from what she heard it was quite the nasty stuff. In all honesty, she would much rather stay here in the sand than go up north where it was cold and wet. It was one thing to be wet and sandy. You could get used to that.

As the Weyr gossip started up again, a small bag lying in the sand caught her attention. Stopping before it, she nudged it gently with her foot. Was someone else on the beach? Or has they just left their belongings out here, forgotten? "Ren, d'you see anybody?" Nandeli shielded her eyes to have a look around. These had to belong to somebody, right?
