It was early in the afternoon and Mashaka had wondered away from him new mothers and his sister. It was different to be away from his family, there was less cub and more attention for him and his sister. It was exciting and overwhelming all at the time.
During his exploration the previous day Mashaka had seen a group of lines that all seemed to be living together. It was interesting, they all seemed to be bright in color and he wanted to learn more about them see if he could meet one of them. Being so bright himself, Mashaka tended to be drawn to those who also had bright colors, with in his family he was the only one that was so bright.
Mashaka was standing in some bushes looking in towards a group of adult lions, they were all female, he looked hard but didn't see any males in the area, but the females were so colorful, and interesting.

The female paused, staring at the boundary with a cautious eye. She wouldnt step over it. Nope, nope, nope. Momma would tan her hide for sure. She did stare out though, and keep her thoughts on what could be out in a land that she had never and probably would never explore.
She raised an eyebrow, turning her head and spotting the brightly colored male. If she didnt know any better, she would have thought he belonged here. But his scent told her that he was trespassing, unlike the lions he was watching.
"Hey!" She yelled, coming up behind him and looking as angry as she could. She had to defend her pride! Who else would?
"You are trespassing." She snorted, plopping her rear down and watching the male cautiously.
"You may look it, but you cant fool me."

Mashaka froze he hadn't realized that being where we was was a bad thing. He had just seen the lions and wanted to know more, he loved the colors he had seen.
He turned and saw the female standing behind him. She wasn't as bright as some of the other lions he saw in the pride but she had some interesting markings, and the red stood out again her black pelt beautifully. "I am sorry" he managed to stumble out.
He was getting better these days with assassinating with females, it was bound to happen with living everyday all day with females. "You really think I would fit in her?" he asked suddenly intrigued, he wanted to know more, his excitement was showing through.

She didnt let him fool her. She eyed him narrowly and shrugged.
"Well look at you. Look at them. Who belongs here more? You or I?" She asked, and flicked her tail agitated and rather annoyed.
"Where do you come from? You are obviously not from around here." She snorted.

Mashaka looked down at his pelt and then back towards the adult lions he saw standing talking not far from him, it was true what she said, he did look like he belonged with them more then she did, but he wasn't going to confirm it for her, she obviously bothered by the fact.
"I uh I come from a long way from her technically, and no where at the same time. I travelled a long way with my father from where my mother was, and then after that I left my father with two lionesses and we came this way. I am someone from nowhere and everywhere I suppose you could say." he answered in reply to her questions, he wasn't sure that he was making much sense but he liked the sound of it.
"What is this place?" he asked, turning his head back towards, what must have been a pride of sorts? He was intrigued and hoped the other cub could tell him more about it.

She growled a bit and shook her head. "Stop talking like that! You are a rogue is what you mean." She confirmed, and smiled a bit after that.
"You are a rogue, you dont have to go on and on and confuse others." She grumbled, not liking the feeling of confusion. It did not suit her one bit.
"This is the Kunanda lands. Lands where the females rule, and the males drool." She smiled, standing a bit taller.

Mashaka listened to what the female said to him, "I suppose you are right I am a rouge, it is easier to say it that way." Mashaka had never thought about explain it all like that before, to him his life had always been so complicated. It made him smile that she had just made it so much more simple with just a few words.
"Kunanda" he repeated quietly, it had an interesting name, it was funny to think your home could have a name like that.
"What do you mean the females rule and the males drool?" Mashaka asked quietly, he was confused by this of course because he had never been in a situation that one sex was dominant over the other, it was always equal. He scrunched up his face trying to make sense of this all.

"I meaaan, just what I said." She nodded. "Boys arent special in the Kunanda lands like us girls." She responded, standing proud and tall. Though she for sure would not tell her brother that. She wanted him to gain a bit in confidence, though she wanted him to be safe in his own pride. He needed to grow as his own lion, and she was trying to encourage it.
"And yes, I am right, you are a rogue." She nodded, though she was not trying to sound rude. The female was merely brash and always spoke her mind. A fatal flaw, depending on who you asked.

Mashaka sat some what puzzled he wasn't sure he liked the way this girl was talking to him. It was a strange and foreign idea to him, that females would be in charge, the lead.
"Oh" he managed to stumble, it wasn't like him to be short of words. "Well I am glad you take much pleasure in being right." he grumble. It was strange that he was feeling so stron about this girl pushing him the way she was. He sat,
"Well what do you think of your home?" he asked her trying to maybe shift the conversation to a more pleasant tone.

She thought of the question, and looked at him curiously. "Well..What do you think of your home?"
She had no idea if the awkwardness she felt was in all prides, or if it was just this one that had her feeling so down.
"Im not bright. I dont really belong here." She told him in a matter of fact sort of way.
"But you.. You could always take my place. Doubt they'd miss me with someone with your purples taking over."
She mused.
She grew bored quickly, and looked over the little lion with a small smile.
"Good luck kid, you'll need it." And she darted back as quickly as she had come, on to her next journey. [FIN]
