Alright, in light of the guild being f---ing dead, I am going to try to spark some conversation.
Wht did you buy your gaming console(s)? Why do you keep it/them? What are some benefits of owning your gaming console(s) of choice?
(I also didn't see an older post like this, so I apologize if we could have brought back a zombie thread redface )

Interesting/cool topic.
And I love your sig!
Anywho,
I own(ed) the PS3, Wii, and 360.
I traded in my PS3 and the games for cash to pay off my credit cards... considering every game I owned on the PS3 I also owned/could own on the 360 (the few exclusives I liked, but could live without).
The 360 I gave to my brother to play with at his shop/condo because I was finishing up my second year in college (associates degree), as well as working and I didn't really have time to play it.
The Wii I also gave to my brother when I started my third year of college (for the same reason).
I don't know. :/
College and work has made it tough to be a gamer. For a long time, I kinda lost interest in playing hardcore like I have been doing since I was little. I think I'll always be a gamer, and love games.... but I think that due to my lifestyle and the fact I'm not made of money, it's hard to keep up with three systems and their games.
I think from now on I'll just stick to my DS and new hand-helds that come out. I don't really have the time or the money for a console/games that are $50/$60 a pop. And I think I'm evolving into a more pick-up-and-play type gamer, as opposed to being able to sit there and complete a 40-50 hour long game anymore.
I'll probably get more DS games when I move back home... and pick up the new Playstation portable once that comes out. I think handhelds are all I really need anymore. They do have some pretty cool games on their own, not to mention spin-offs/sequels to big titles that appear on the company's consoles.

I know how you feel. My two major games are TF2 and L4D because I can play a more finite length of time and can drop out easily. I LOVE Metroid Prime Trilogy, but that can keep me up for far too long. Now for my consoles... I own a 360 because I play multiplatforms and 360 exclusive games. Dead Rising, Fable, and even Halo 3 kept me busy, and then I had a console to play things like CoD4. I own a Wii because I am a Nintendo fanboy mrgreen Pick a Nintendo-created character, and I generally love them. I loved Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, and Metroid Prime 3. I own a gaming quality PC because I grew into liking PC games, and my school laptop couldn't really run TF2 as well as I would have liked. Office 2007 also gave me some trouble gonk Now I've got an i7 and 6GB RAM to punch through anything, and I have been loving it. And this one was for Tango:

Initially, I bought my Xbox 360 purely for Halo 3, just like I bought my X-brick just for Halo 2. As much as people love to hate on these two games now, back then these two were both huge titles with huge releases. I think most gamers can understand my purchase decision.
However, I keep it around now because of Forza. To put it simply, I love cars. Forza keeps me happy with its huge online community of painters, tuners, drifters, racers, etc. Forza Motorsport 3 is going to be huge for me, and it is highly possible that this will be my main game for the next 2 years when FM4 will likely come out.

I got the Wii because when it came out, its controller was all the rage, and was perceived as a new way to play video games. Of course, now that its luster has worn off and it's definitely made its mark as a tacked-on gimmick in most games than an actual asset, I've come to focus more attention on the actual games on it. And while it may seem like I have a sort of resentment towards the Wii, this past year has proved rather impressive. The Conduit is excellent, and with Metroid: Other M and Red Steel 2 on the way, I'll finally have fresh, new Wii games that'll give the console exercise.
I got the Ps3 because I just wasn't satisfied with the Wii's (at the time) terrible library of titles and strongly needed something more. I had a very distinct choice to make at this point - get a Ps3, which while it had many great exclusives I wanted, at the time was treated like a poison and I was often taunted for showing interest in it, or get a 360, which all my friends had, so I'd be able to play Xbox Live on it, although there were few games I'd really go out of my way to get on a 360. I eventually came to the wiser decision to get a Ps3, and many of my friends shockingly followed suit! Soon I was among a wide group of friends all owning Ps3's and all playing them together. It was a very large investment, of course, but I don't regret it in the least. I recently bought Uncharted 2, and because of its pure epicness, my interest in gaming as been born anew, which I guess is partially the reason why I'm back here. Also as a reason to get off Facebook.
And that's why I'm a PsWii-er.

I started playing video games when I was 6 or so. My dad had 2 games on his....computer device... Zaxon & ...and Alien game involving Mars...dont remeber much abotu that one. Zaxon friggen RULED!!!
When I was 8, dad got me a ps1. The ps1 is why my folks got me the ps2. biggrin I loved the PS and I loved the games. Sonyw as moving onto the PS2 and I needed to follow. The non-smart reply is that Kingdom Hearts had come out and I reeeaaalllyyyyyy wanted to play it. biggrin (KH remains one of my favorite series.) My love of the PS consols led to my purchasing of the PSP, which is probably why it's my favorite handheld!
GBA - bought it for Chain of memories. Now I just use it for the GB pokemon games and the GBA harvest moons :3
DS - WHen I came up with 10 titles I'd get for it, I got the DS.
PS3 - Dad and I love video games. Dad was a pc gamer for fpses, his comp was beginning to be out of date, so he upgraded :3
I still have all of my consols, even my gbc. Can't bring myself to toss it or my ps1 out. And I still use & play on my ps2.

My reasons i bought the following.
Xbox 360: I bought this system/console because (truthfully) my friend from kindergarten had it and i heard about how cool xbox live was.
Wii: The critics gave it a good review and nintendo made it so I knew there was gonna be a great mario game. Luckily there is. ^_-
PS3: (Im gonna be really honest with this one) I bought this system cause of the 2009 game "Infamous". Yea i said it "Infamous. This is one of my favorite games of all time and im gonna keep it until it disintegrates. I was a ultra big fan of Ratchet and Clank also.(Plus it had a blue ray player)
