User Image - awesome art by Kel herself <3

He was...to say the least...swelling with joy... even his cheek fur had gone a tough 'poofy'.
He was standing on the riverbank paw deep in the mud tracing his own 'writing' into the mud with his claw and sweeps of his tail tip.
He was...practicing writing her name...over and over again a curl of the claw...and a sweep of the tail...more a mental image than the elaborite pictutes in the caves above...but...it was such a beautiful name...for such a beautiful lion.. .
Storm god be praised...she had been worth the travels if thats what what he had been held back to wait for.
He took a deep pleased breath of the damp air and shivered with pleasure at the warmth of the sun on his back.

The snow and silver lioness grinned as she padded up behind him, his jade eyes absorbed in his writing. She let her own rove over his strong, lithe frame, white with that earth coloured mane and tail tip scribing in the soft damp mud. With a mischievous pounce she captured that tail end in her mouth for a moment, forcing his attention on her. She smiled happily.

"Good afternoon, Enki," and she rubbed her head under his chin affectionately.

"AUP!" He jumps a little...his tail tugging instintualy at the light bite and then curls his wiskers forward in pleasure...rubbing his chin down her shoulder in greeting. "MmmGoodafternoon Kinya!"
He takes a moment to savor the sent of her and moves an unobtrusive paw to smudge out his scratchings.. "Im sorry...I was wrapped up in trying to solve the difrences between my writing and that in the cave" He says flicking his ear a little embarised.

"I'd wondered where you'd got to," the lioness peered interestedly at the now smudged marks on the riverbanks. "The writing... it's always so beautiful." She looked up at him, retreating a little to prevent her grey forepaws from getting too muddied. "Is it really that different, your writing and theirs?"
She glanced involuntarily upstream, where in the not too far distance the main waterfalls thundered majestically down into the jungle.
"Our writing... was almost non-existant." She gazed frankly at him, almost forgetting what she was thinking about as the warm feeling swelled within her that he was hers and she was his. She shook her head slightly, silvery ears flapping slightly against the side of her head.
"We only had the picture stories, and the words of the Steward..."

He reaches up and daubs a touch of mud on the end of her nose. "Its different enough...that I have a hard time reading it...though mine just comes to mind for me" He tips his head and glances down to where she watched... where the thick emerald of the jungles swolowed the water like some great beast.
"Is your writing so different from this? Its just another kind of picture...I could...probibly show you" He says flipping his tail happily.

"Ack." She grinned and tried to swat the mud from her nose, sneezing slightly.
"Rascal..." Finding her train of thought again eventually she stepped lightly up onto the grassy edge and sat down neatly, golden eyes still fixed on him.

"Anyway, uh... our pictures truly were that, mainly pictures of Moho and Jaha and Jaha's journey that brought us across the mountains... there are a few angular pictures of nothing, we call runes, that mean certain things... like water, or rain, or breeze." She twisted round briefly to examine the grey marking shining dully on the white of her back. "Or storm, of course... but how Maji explained it, he says you can capture any word onto rock or mud using symbols... He's tried to teach me a bit, but I know little."
Kinyamkela looked down at her paws, neatly together in the grass in front of her.
"Who was it taught you writing, beloved?"

He swelled with joy when she called him beloved...
"My mother did...she was teaching me before we left...and My father...showed me the caves. When I got seperated I just...kept writing.. I left little notes and scratchings where I wanderd...just in case someone followed behind me.. "
he smiles a little whistfuly.
"Im sure your writing is much closer to form than mine then my goddes of storms..." He touches his nose to yours

She closed her eyes happily and licked his nose gently. "I don't think so. Maji said he couldn't understand any of my writings.. perhaps we should practise together, until we get something that sounds possible..."
She twitched a snowy tailtip idly in the grass. "After all, we should be reviving the Mistweavers and their writings, should we not?" She licked his cheek this time, nuzzling affectionately.

He beams at her and licks her nose in return.. "Sounds wonderful....perhaps...we should ask Maji to make you the story keeper for -this- tribe...I think...you have a wonderful voice...and a if you know more writing styles than us...that will be incredible...becuase that means that more people can understand."
He purrs.
he reaches down and draws a spiral in the dirt...tracing over it with the tip of his tail in a waving line. "There....thats how I would write your name" He says leaning back on his haunches.
PostPosted: Mon Nov 28, 2005 2:54 pm

"The storm that causes a whirlwind..." She traced the spiral in the air above the symbol, careful not to disturb it. "That's perfect! So if I see that symbol somewhere else, I know that it is my name?" The lioness looked enchanted. "It looks... a little similar to what our Steward wrote on our tree before I left.. to remember me to the Tufani-wana... maybe there are similarities!"

The second question caught up with ehr and she looked puzzled. "I know more styles perhaps, but I hardly know any of them fully. I'm more than happy to tell stories, it was always one of my favourite pasttimes..." The inside of her ears flushed rosy as she blushed. "And thankyou for saying such sweet things, my rain-washed knight..."

His own ears turn a shade of red that borders on blending with his mane... "You certanly set me awirl" He says Looking sheepish.
"It takes...a certan kind of person to tell stories after all...and...breathe a life into them...set them awirl... if...thry don't get lost...in your eyes..." He says gazing into hers... "they remind me of storms on the savanah..."
He draws again in the dirt...a seed shape with a round peice in the middle...then a jagged line in the circle... "Eyes like storms" He murmers.

Said golden eyes were filled half with love and half with confusion. She had always been a practical lioness, large and boisterous, and here she was for some reason changed into a mushy lovesick cub... and she was loving every minute of it.
"Storms sent by the Rain King, to wash us clean," she batted him on the nose softly, showing the remains of dark drying mud still on the grey fur. "You are a flatterer, beloved. And a muddy one at that." She tucked her head under his chin again, seeking the comfort.

He taps his nose into the soft curve of her neck.. "Im Muddy eh?" He teases and runs a dirty paw over her shoulder. " Mm...You look a little dirty yourself" He teases though its drying to a dust..."
"Would my lady of storms who thinks honesty is flattery...care for a swim?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 28, 2005 3:33 pm

She laughed at that. "Perhaps, if only to make ourselves clean, instead of dusty like this..." She ducked out of her protectiveness with a little pang of regret but danced over to the water's edge.
"We can't get out hee, it's far too muddy!" She called decisively and with a smile. "Let's swim across. I'll race you..."

When she had first arrived in this land of waterfalls and jungle she had hated the thought of going near water, but now she had grown to enjoy the water's soothing coolness, especially as the water was so clear here. Wet fur would soon dry out in the African heat...

"Alright" He beams.. "Though I warn you..! My name means lord of hidden waters" He grins and bolts for the water tapping your leg with his tail.
"And we shall see! What I can craft for the winner...I'll make you a pretty prize for your lovely tail one way or the other!" He declares
