Finally, the end of the day was here. All of the soon-to-grow academic stresses, the hour of absolute torture that was gym class, being woken up at an ungodly hour by a Franz waiting at his bedside and the botched practice that followed was done for now, another set of events Simon could gently tuck away in the back of his mind for the rest of the afternoon before they started up all over again tomorrow. It was a bit a breathing room he was always grateful for, and breathe he did.

His dorm was empty save for himself. Samson and Seymour had gone off to... well, probably get themselves into trouble, if how they could act when he wasn't around was any indication. It bothered him he hadn't been around to talk them out of whatever it was they were doing, but figured there was no helping them now.

Besides, he had to finish unpacking before a dorm inspector came by and roasted him for it!

He started out by neatly creasing and tucking his bedsheets back where they were supposed to go (he was probably very lucky he hadn't gotten a demerit for leaving them in such a mess that morning), then deftly kicked open his briefcase and started throwing his belongings up on the bed into haphazardly sorted piles. Simon tended to get a little bit into chores like this. Whether it was just to break through the monotony or because he genuinely enjoyed doing them was a mystery. That didn't really matter, though - dude was dancing while folding his clothes.

He'd also neglected to close the door all the way, and yes he did just moonwalk over to his dresser drawer.

Now, Elzo had a bad habit. And that habit was fed daily by the fact he lived in a dorm of teenage boys who didn't really care if a class mate saw them. Not to mention the boys were lazy and tended to leave doors wide open all the time anyway. Which, made Elzo's habit all that much easier. Of course it was a small habit, one he rarely indulged in. But, what was his habit you might ask?
Why, it was people watching.
Looking into guy's dorms, he'd watch them for a few seconds then move on. But, upon occasion Elzo would find something undeniably interesting and in such a case, he'd stay a little while and watch. Most guys noticed after a few minutes. And then they either shut the door on him, or, called him gay and slammed the door. Overall, it provided Elzo a very interesting way to pass the time.
And today Elzo had found what he would openly say was his most humorous discovery. A fellow class man was quite actively dancing while cleaning his dorm. Now, at first Elzo was flabbergasted. It was an odd sight to behold, and later on, it became a bit humorous. But as he watched, he grew to admire the skill. Not everybody could pull off some of those moves. Such as that moon walk. With a whistle, Elzo felt it was time to do the usual embarrassment check. "Smooth moves M.J."

The effect of being called to in such a way was instantaneous. It would be more of an understatement than an exaggeration to say he froze like a deer in headlights, eyes wide and snapped in the direction of the other boy, looking absolutely petrified. He stayed like that for a few seconds, standing, staring, stuck in mid-moonwalk, a pair of socks gripped in one of his hands.

"W......w-w-what do you mean b-by that?" he finally responded, jerkily pulling his body into a slightly more normal standing position. All of that smooth moving he was just doing seemed to have vanished down some invisible drain in the floor below him. Now, there was only a nervewracked, awkward boy standing behind that door. "And w-why are you even w-w-watching me unpack?!"
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:54 pm

Watching the boy freeze mid movement was a treat. Classic reaction. It was like getting caught with your hand the proverbial cookie jar. You just stuck in place, and hoped it wasn't real. Well, to bad for this guy, it was real. "I mean you've got some smooth moves moonwalking. That s**t is hard. I don't think I know anybody that can do it." Elzo crosses his arms and leaned on the door frame. For a guy that clearly had skill, he didn't seem to confident in himself. Maybe he was one of those loner types.
"And I wasn't watching you unpack, I was watching you dancing. Kinda hard not to notice it when you're walking down the hall ya know?" Elzo moved his head to the side and spied the open suitcase. So he really had been unpacking. Huh, it looked more like the guy was just...having fun while cleaning? Who knew, Elzo had heard stranger excuses for certain actions in these dorm halls. "Besides, you're good. Got some sweet skills. You part of a dance team or something?"

After calming down a little, Simon blinked in mild surprise at Elzo's explanation. "R-really? I never thought it was that big a deal..." From his tone, it was clear he wasn't being arrogant or anything along those lines, he was being honest. He really never thought that dancing could be more difficult than just watching and copying.

But there was no avoiding it now; this other student had seen him dance and was now reviewing his performance. That was one more secret out of the bag... Simon sighed and sagged on the spot, resigning himself to unpacking a little more while he listened so it wouldn't be obvious that it was upsetting him. No need to make a stranger uncomfortable.

"N-n-no, no d-dance team," he replied, shaking his head. Then, very, very hesitantly, he added, "ButIamonthecheerleadingteam-- only s-suh-since yesterday, though..."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:16 pm

"....Dude." Elzo was a bit shocked, to say the least. "Dude." He moved into the room and grabbed the guy by his shoulder. "DUDE." Looking right at him, Elzo mustered his most serious face possible. It was kinda hard given what he just seen, but, he hoped he pulled it off. "Stop, like, freaking. I'm not going to run up and down and like, let everybody and their aunt know you dance while cleaning. Like some pansy a** Cinderella. It's not like you're gay or something." Suddenly Elzo let go of him and stepped back. "You're not right? I heard that the cheer leading team is kinda...it's own brand of special 'round here."

He blinked, realizing he was probably invading the guy's space massively. "But it's totally cool if you are man. Just don't you know...hit on me. It's creepy. I'm Elzo by the way." He held out his hand in greeting. If the guy shook it firmly, he was a man's man. If it was some pansy pat, he was....well he'd be something, that was for sure.

"N-n-no, no, no, I am not gay!" Simon replied a little too loudly, waving his hands in front of him in the universal gesture of vehement denial. There was a reason he was reacting so violently to such a question, and it wasn't because he was actually gay - no, this guy was perfectly straight. He was just trying to shoo away one bad thought before it lead to worse ones. He had no problem against homosexuality and honestly believed they deserved their place in society, but... the cheerleading team, and, oh god, if they were gay, if Franz was...

Okay Simon, time to stop before you give yourself uncomfortable nightmares for the next week. Auuugh. Bad thoughts, bad thoughts!

He returned the handshake, and Elzo would find it to more or less be in-between on the side of girly. An extension of his obvious confidence issues, really. "S-Simon. I'd introduce you to my r-roommates, but they're not around."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 8:37 pm

Pulling his hand back, Elzo looked at. He just looked at it. Like it was infected with the plague or something. "..." The handshake was so...weird. It wasn't a pansy pat, but it wasn't no born crushing squeeze. It was just...weird. "...You know, it's said people will deny things more strongly when it's true and they don't want others to know." Elzo said this while still staring at his hand. Intently. Still. Staring. Looking up, Elzo finally let his hand fall to his side.
"I mean, you're on the cheer leading team dude. You can dance pretty well and...we are in an all boys school." He put EXTRA emphasis on the fact it was AN ALL BOY'S SCHOOL. Which you know...kinda lead to well...stuff. Usually. At least in Elzo's head it did.

"But, I honestly wouldn't exactly expect to see your roommates around if you're ya know...pulling a Cinderella minus the singing." He looked at Simon curiously for a second. "I mean..You don't sing also do ya? If you do, no offense, but, no amount of girls will prove that you aren't...ya know, flaming." Elzo kept saying ya know alot. Maybe he was just projecting his own awkwardness.

When Elzo started talking again, Simon first took on a look of confusion... but as he continued, and as the poor boy was able to put two and two together, his expression slowly became one of growing horror. No, no, this wasn't right at all! He clenched his teeth and bit his lip, trying to work his jaw into a response that wouldn't dig him deeper into the hole he'd made for himself.

"But that d-doesn't... I m-m-mean, I-I-I..."

He kept stammering beginnings of sentences, but got nowhere fast, utterly crushed by the barrage of accusations Elzo was making. He just stood there, looking helpless and defeated, at the next question - probably looking very much like he'd just been exposed. Simon had known this guy for all of three minutes and had already decided there was no winning against him.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:22 pm

For a while, Elzo felt a bit sorry for the guy. He probably got teased alot, not to mention most guy's weren't exactly welcoming for his....like. But that quickly left and was replaced by Elzo's usual loud inquisitiveness. "Don't worry man. Your secret is safe with me. But, you do realize it won't stay secret for long once everybody knows you're on the cheer leading team. I mean...It's kinda of a given at any school. Just..alot more here?" Elzo shrugged and leaned back on the door frame once more. "I hear that the cheer squad's leader is kinda weird, his preference aside. Some of the stories man...they're just freaky. One story is that he stalks his favorite boys and watches them sleep. Like...that one gay a** vampire from that book. You know, the one girls go gaga over. He sparkles or some s**t. But, Yeah, the cheer captain stalk his favorite guys. Just like that. It's not true though, is it?"

Elzo just looked at Simon like he was some kind of informant who might give him some secrets or proof. It was almost creepy the way he look at him. But, then again, ALL Elzo's stares were like that. Creepy.

True or false, secret or not... saying that it was "safe" was probably very inaccurate, seeing as they had both been exchanging considerably loud words about Simon's sexual orientation, while his door was open, during a time of day when a lot of boys tended to mill about the hallways or bum around in their rooms, also with their doors open. There was even an open door right across the hall from him - a few underclassmen behind it had probably heard most, if not all of the words that had just been exchanged.

So, no, his "secret" was not safe, and it was never meant to be. But that had been suddenly and violently shoved to the basement of his mind when Elzo decided to talk about the cheer squad.

One story is that he stalks his favorite boys and watches them sleep...

Simon's whole form bristled in a large, grand mal shiver, dropping a small stack of shirts to the floor - he couldn't have reacted any less if someone had poured a cup of liquid nitrogen the back of his shirt. How could he possibly say that he had experienced that very thing earlier this morning? No. He couldn't. Never. He could only stare in blatant fear as Elzo's words doomed him to disturbing, exaggerated nightmares for the rest of the week.

He made a small, weak noise, something halfway between a squeak and a groan.

"Aw, looks like you've got him all flustered Elzo!" "HAHAHA!" "What a dweeb." A few guys in passed had indeed heard quite a bit it seemed. Giving them all a sharp glare, Elzo simply stepped in the room and shut the door behind him, but not before giving his reply to the one who remarked first. "Too Bad Jameson! We all know you like your guys all nervous and s**t." Looking back at Simon, he really was kinda...well, feeble. "Dude, don't listen to them. They're just a** hats. But about that Cheer lead- Dude. You alright man?" Elzo looked at him closer. It was like this kid had seen a ghost or something. Or maybe...
"Don't tell me...It's true?" Elzo backed up a little bit, (Which really made no sense). "Oh shi-....And...oh s**t man is he watching you and doing creepy s**t? Oh man...I'm sorry bro." He went back and put an arm around Simon, but not before slapping him in the back. "Uh man..That's got to be the balls. Don't worry bro. Just like...brace the door at night with a chair or something. I've done it twice to keep out my jerk of a roomie when he comes in after dark. It works pretty well. And..hey, maybe he'll find another guy right?" How did you comfort a guy when you find out he's being stalked by another guy? Oh man...Talk about weird.

Jeering and sneering in Simon's direction was something he was pretty accustomed to. He could handle that just fine, with little more than a slight downturn in his mood. He'd been through worse, after all. Really, his reaction would have been exactly the same as it was if he weren't busy being petrified, which meant no reaction at all.

At Elzo's concerned inquiry, the poor boy could only give a slow, jerky nod before he slumped to a sitting position on the edge of his bed, inadvertently undoing the folding he had done on a patched-up pair of slacks. "M-m-m-maybe..." he stammered in a barely audible tone, staring helplessly at his hands. "I-I-I mean, i-i-it sounded m-more like it w-w-was because I'm new... I think..."

By the sound of things, though, it didn't seem like there'd be any more new members of the squad for a good while. Which meant he was stuck being the new kid for who knew how long...
PostPosted: Thu Sep 17, 2009 7:26 pm

"....Lets hope man. Uh..well...um..." Elzo looked around the stark dorm. It was just about as bland as his. "Uhhhhh..." Wow, wasn't he just a box full of confidence. "Don't worry about it. I mean, like, just tell him you're not interested or something. That works with creepy girls. Maybe it'll work on him too?" Okay, Elzo really was shooting at nothing by now.

With a sigh, he sat down next to Simon. "Aw come on man. Why you so down? Juts I dunno. Do something fun. Like...like..." Elzo tried to think of fun things to do at Hillworth. And his list was lacking, (if you didn't count all the rule breaking he did). But there was one thing! "We could wait....That's against school rules too." Elzo looked at the meek fellow. Maybe he liked, no, he was gay, his didn't like girls. So, girl watching was out. Hmm... This was tough. For some reason Elzo couldn't think of anything fun to do that didn't break the rules! Eh, what the heck.

"Wanna go mess with guy's lockers in the gym hall? Or you know...just go do something fun? I hear one guy down the dorm has a stashed away Xbox with Halo." he just couldn't stand seeing a guy so down.

While Elzo talked, Simon shakily pulled back himself into a standing position and tried to continue unpacking, re-folding his slacks notably more messily than they were before and handling the shirts he dropped like they were oversized leaves of rotten cabbage. He was far from focused on the task at this point, but hey, he was still trying - at this point, though, his only motivation was the quiet fear of getting a black mark on his record for poor upkeep. There was one thing about this school he let himself take some pride in, and that was that his behavior record was almost entirely perfect.

"I dunno..." he replied weakly, creasing the sleeves on a weathered plaid button shirt, "I-I mean... sorry, b-but I really need to finish putting everything away before the inspectors start cracking down..."

Not only that, but the gym hall was the last place he ever wanted to be ever unless it was out of pure necessity. If they went over to 'mess with the lockers' and it happened to be time for an unscheduled search or inspection or something, they wouldn't just be losing their weekend privileges. No, Simon was sure that if that happened, they would be dead. Very. Dead.

"Th-thanks for offering, though. Maybe s-s-some other time if I see you around again."
