 In Tana's young life, things had always been a certain way. His understanding of the way the world worked was based on certain facts being true. Males were a certain color as were females. Boys did things different than girls, they were smarter and stronger than girls. It was just the facts of life....
All these thoughts ran through the little male's mind as he stared at shock at the black and pink male in front of him. Pink was a girl's color....
Shaking his head, Tana crept closer to the odd looking little male. Maybe his nose was just wrong, maybe it really was a female..."Uh..why are you pink?"

 Kairu looked at the other cub, he wasn't as aware as the other cub was that cubs were suppose to have fur of certain colors, to him fur was fur, something to set one apart, an appearance something that made you different but at the same time linked you to your family.
"Why am I pink?" Kairu repeated more to himself then anything else. he turned his head to look at his back, compared to some of his siblings he wasn't that pink, for instance his one brother was entirely pink. "I have pink on me because my father has pink on him. Just like I am mostly black because my mother is mostly black."
Deciding he needed to prove his point further he looked the cub over and asked, "Why are you the colors you are?"

Tana laid his ears back a bit as he studied the male before him. He had never really wondered till now why he didn't look like any of his family. None of his siblings had even a touch of gold or tan to them. Neither did Uncle Unus....
Shaking his hear, Tana snorted, " To better blend into the swamp. You will stick out. Maybe you should roll in mud before you go hunting to keep the prey from seeing that bright pink.

Kairu scowled at the other cub, suddenly unhappy that he had bothered responding to him at all. "My father never seemd to have an issue hunting... and and well if I got at night my black fur will help, I could be as sleek as my mother."
Kairu smiled he loved his mother deeply, he only know bits and pieces about her past but he knew enough that she had been lonely most of her life, and never had a family, now he was determined to be everything he possibly could for her.
"I bet I could out do you in a hunting contest." Kairu challenged, he was worried about the challenge as he had never really hunted before, besides spiders that he had found in his den. He looked his eyes full of worry at the other cub.

Tana's gold eyes narrowed as a wicked little smile came to his muzzle. So this cub thought himself a hunter did he? Very well then, let the games begin. Tana got to his feet circling the other male.
"You want to challenge me to a hunt? Fine. Do you wish to judge by how many kills brought back or the size of the kill brought back?"
He just smiled that nasty little smile. He had taught himself to hunt early on, refusing to put more strain on his single mother by making her hunt more. Let his sisters and brothers be a burden on her. Tana swore to himself, he would never do that.

Kairu thought about his options carefully, "Quantity who ever can catch the most wins... we only have a short period of time though." Kairu was hedging his bets, he knew if he could find a good enough supply of mice he would be able to catch a fair number quickly.
"What do you say how long should we have?" Kairu asked the other cub, trying to buy himself time to think of the perfect location to run to within the swamps.

"When the sun touches the top of the trees we will see who wins. " He smirked tossing his blue mane out of his eyes. The poor pink cub had no idea what he was about to get himself into.
"Good luck...because I don't need it." Without waiting for the other cub to answer he took off running towards his hunting grounds.
((Should we roll a dice to see who wins?))

Kairu nodded as he turned and ran, he knew where he was going to find the mice. He looked up towards the sky as he ran, there wasn't much time before the sun hit the top of the trees, he had to make sure that there was a balance of number of mice in a location and the distances to the spot they were suppose to meet, he didn't want to loose because of travelling time.
Before long her made it to where he was aiming to go, it was a dirty little cave that he had discovered not long ago, while hunting lizards with another friend of his, he had noticed before that it was riddled with mice as no lions made it there home. It was too small and cramped. He crept in trying his best not to make much noise, he didn't want the mice to scurry before he had a chance to catch them, element of surprise was always a good one when hunting. He crouched down and did the tell all bum shake and lept through the air.
He managed to catch a few right away, then he went to work corning and killing, quite proud of himself, he poked his head outside of the den and noted the placement of the sun... he best be heading back he didn't want to be late. He gathered his prize in his mouth and trotted back to where he had been moments before with the other cub.

Tana rolled his eyes when the other cub ran off. Stupid cub, he had no idea of the trouble he was in for. Tana had been hunting since his eyes could open, first his mother's tail, then his trickier siblings, progressing up to mice then the most elusive swamp prey the snakes and lizards.
Flicking his ears, the oddly colored cub headed for the rocky basin knowing he would find his favorite prey there this time of day. His golden eyes locked on the prizes that lay sunning themselves like glittering jewels, a small burble of happiness spilled from the small male as he began his hunt.
It didn't take him long to make a sizable dent in the lizard population that inhabited the bolder. Gathering the tails up in his mouth, the little cub turned and began the trek back, sure that he had beat that stupid little male.
(Figured we could roll 1d10 to see who wins the hunt off)

Kairu was already waiting with his bounty when Tana returned to the agreed upon meeting place. He felt quite proud of himself, and thought for sure he was going to beat his new friend. To him it was just a friendly competition, he never thought of it as much more.
"So Tana, how many did you catch?" he asked, hoping that he had done better, it wasn't that he would be terrible if he lost but, well who was he kidding, winning would be definitely better. He smiled at the other cub waiting in anticipation for the answer.

Tana growled low as he eyed the returning male. How -DARE- that little freak catch more then he did?! Tossing his head, Tana just looked down his nose at the other male. "I caught enough to satisfy me! I don't have to prove anything to a girly boy like you!"
The tiny male got to his feet, shoving past the dark colored boy rudely. How his mother would scold him if she saw him being so rude and hateful, luckily for him though, his mother was occupied somewhere else. Stalking towards the den, Tana grumbled under his breath, ignoring the tear gathering in the corners of his eyes.
If Kairu bothered to notice, where Tana had been sitting was a lone lizard, badly mauled by some little cub's claws. It was obvious that the tan runt had lost and taken it badly.

Kairu swayed to the side as the other cub pushed past him. He huffed lightly, saddened that today he hadn't made a new friend. It was his goal most days to make a new friend, but clearly the cub that he had found today just wasn't the type.
He rose to his feet and wondered where to go next, he was sad and decided that he just wanted to go back to his den, perhaps his mother, or aunt would be around and would cuddle him back into happiness.
Kairu turned and headed back towards the dens, not noticing the poor lizard that had been mauled by the other cub. Kairu would never understand why the other boy didn't want to be friends with him.
