Khith blinked his green eyes a few times as he popped his head around the large bolder that he had been hiding behind. His mother was looking for him and the pup had NO intentions of being caught just yet. It was only midday, he didn't want to take a bath just yet.
Checking the area for his mother, the white and brown puppy saw a large tannish figure in the distance, his ears perking. Was that...it was!! It was a kitty!! His little tail wagged madly as he took off running full tilt for the kitty. Skidding to a stop, nearly under the kitty's feet he barked happily wiggling all over.
"Hi, hi, hi, hi!! I'm Khith! Whose you kitty?" His emerald eyes danced as he stared up at her, his tail wagging his whole rear end.

Mal had been giving herself a nice, relaxing bath in the sun when the white blaze of a pup appeared from nowhere and began demanding her name. She'd just escaped her dim witted and often over energetic brother. What bothersome god had deemed it necessary to bestow upon her something that frankly seemed to have even more energy?
"I'm the goddess of sarcasm," she fibbed. "Now shoo or I'll... get really sarcastic on your scrawny butt." Okay. That didn't sound as great out loud as it had in her head.

A soft whimper spilled from the tiny pup as his ears drooped, his big green eyes looking up at her utterly heartbroken. The kitty didn't like him? But..but...she was such a pretty kitty.
Another soft whine spilled out as he turned to go, tail dragging the ground. He was the picture of utter despair and heartbreak. The kitty didn't want to be his friend...

She was grateful for a moment for the fact that the cub was leaving. But then she thought twice and a forced sigh escaped her lips. That had been extreemly rude of her. It was a clash of morals and exhaustion. Unfortunately morals were winning. She had to apologize at least.
She grumbled and pulled herself to her feet, padding over to the child.
"Hey. I'm sorry. I know it's no excuse for snapping like that but I'm pretty tired right now..."

Khith wiggled all over happily when the pretty kitty spoke to him again. He gazed up at her adoringly, his little tail never stopping as he tried to be still.
"It ok pretty kitty, I be good." He all but fawned at her feet, licking her toes when her foot got close enough. "Kitty tired, I get kitty food?" As small as the hyper puppy was, it was unlikely he could catch much, but darn it all, he was just soooo eager to please the pretty kitty.

Food? She blinked. There was no way this tiny pup could catch anything. Especially with all the noise he was making. Still though, if it kept him busy a while it might be worth a shot.
"Oh thank you," she grinned. "Do you know what my favourite is? Grasshoppers. Do you think you could catch a juicy grasshopper for me?" She didn't really like sending the pup to get her food, but she figured he probably needed to run off some of his energy anyhow.

Khith was about to exploded! The pretty kitty wanted him to hunt for her!! Oh happy day! Prancing all over, he beamed up at her happily, " Yes pretty kitty! I am a good hunter, I get you the biggest hopper of all!"
Without waiting for her to answer, he bolted away, barking at the top of his lungs sending every bird, rabbit, small creature he -might- be able to catch fleeing from the loud thing.

She sat down slowly. That pup was going to wake up every predator on the Savannah. She just knew it. All she could do for now though, was to keep an eye on it. If a predator came along she was doubtful that she'd be able to do anything about it... but she felt obligated to try anyways. Just where was this pup's mother??

Khith bounced about the long grass, barking and growling oh so vicious as the long grasses thwarted him from finding his prey. Suddenly he heard the chirp of a cricket ahead. Dropping down onto his belly like he had seen the kitties do, he crawled towards the hopper, his big ears flicking as he stalked the bug.
His emerald eyes crossed when the hopper landed on his nose. Well....how was he suppose to get it now? Whining in confusion he turned to look at the pretty kitty, the big grasshopper still sitting on his nose.

Mal glanced over just in time to see the grasshopper on the pup's nose. A sigh, then a grin, then she lifted her paw to bring it down on her own nose. A gesture she was hoping the pup would recognize.
Cubs. That was something she wasn't sure she ever wanted. Such a pawfull.

He began to bark at the hopper on his nose as he growled viciously at his own nose. When that didn't work he bolted to the lioness whimpering, " Pretty kitty, I can't get it off."
His big green eyes were so mournful, as he gazed up at her helplessly. Well...he had kinda caught her a grasshopper...more it had caught him. "For you pretty kitty?" He perked his ears hopefully.

Mal stared at him in amazement. How many times had she tried to catch a grasshopper only to have it flit away at the slightest movement? Yet this hopper seemed content to hold on tight not only as it was growled at but while the pup it was riding on ran back through the grass!
She nodded, then slowly lifted a paw to bat it off. As it hit the ground she stomped on it, then lowered her head to take a bite. She only ate half before leaning back.
"Ohhh! I'm so full I can't possibly eat anymore! It would be such a shame to let the best half of such a delicious grasshopper go to waste though..."

Khith wiggled with delight as he snapped the other half up. He had done good for the pretty!! It made him sooo happy that he began to bark and run in circles around her.
"Yay!! I caught bug for pretty!!!"
His happiness was infectious and hard to ignore, espically when he was fawning on her feet, gazing up at her adoringly. "Pretty kitty like me now? Pretty kitty happy?

"You caught a perfectly delicious bug," Mal agreed. "I'm very happy. But hush, puppy! You'll attract every predator on the Savannah going on like that."
She wasn't particularly afraid other predators, but would she be able to protect some little dog she'd just met? Things just weren't that easy.
"Where's your mother? She'd throw a fit if she knew you were catching bugs for strangers."

Khith's green eyes widened in a comical expression of horror. In his excitement to play with the pretty new kitty, he had completely forgotten his mother's warning to stay close to the den and to his siblings. He had been so concerned with escaping the dreaded bath, that he ran too far.
"Oh no pretty! I have to go home! Momma is gonna be mad!" He whimpered tucking his tail between his legs as he slunk down on his belly. "Now she is gonna give me two baths instead of one...oh no pretty, I have to go!"
Bolting before the lioness could really reply, Khith hightailed it back towards his home. Maybe, just maybe if his luck held out, momma would have gotten distracted with one of his six siblings and forgotten Khith was missing. Doubtful, but the little puppy could hope!
