Let me tell you a story about sheer stupidity. See, I'm supposed to be smart, right? Apparently not. LOL.
I was on my way to Wal Mart last night, just to get something. I took a shopping cart with me (sometimes we have to hijack their carts because we don't have a ride and we can't carry so much s**t all at once by ourselves. We bring them back though, and that's what I was doin.) and I had my handbag in there. Or shoulder bag, whatever. This s**t has all the vital stuff in there. And I happen to be on the phone with Tim at the time.
This guy comes to me, and asks me if he can use my phone. So I'm just like WTF? And I go "No, I can't do that." Trying to be smart right. So he starts begging, "Please? Just for a minute. I really need to call my mom!" I notice that he's clutching his stomach and wheezing, so I can't help but be like "Ok, it looks like something's going on and he might really need to use the phone." So, slowly, and against my better judgment, I hand him the phone (with much skepticism). He *supposedly* dials a number, and when the person picks up, he asks "Where you at?" I stand there and wait. A few moments later, he nods and goes, "Oh, okay." He closes my phone, then hands it back to me.
SUDDENLY, before I even knew WTF was happening, the son of a b***h is runnin off, like Sonic the ******** Hedgehog, with the whole damn bag. And this is where I'm screwed, because I can't run fast for s**t. This happened because my stupid a** left the bag wide open, in the cart. So no doubt he used that to his advantage.
Apparently I'm not the only stupid one, cuz when the guy ran off, he was running right into the apartment complex that I live in. So I'm pretty sure he can be easily tracked down.
But still, I cannot believe I fell for that s**t. I KNEW this was a bad neighborhood. I KNEW people in this area can't be trusted. WHY, oh why, did I fall for this stupid, stupid trick? Now Mine and my roommate's debit cards are gone, along wioth our wallets, AND a passport. AND both our state IDs. All because I ignored my better judgment, once again.
UPDATE: We got a call yesterday morning. They said they found both our debit cards on the property of the Complex. I signed for mine, but had to kill it when I got home, since I quickly canceled it as soon as I got home the night of the robbing. My roommate was having complications with canceling her card because they asked her a bunch of trivial questions she couldn't answer. Luckily she still has the same amount that she had last time she looked in her account. I have the same amount too, so that's good. As for my passport and ID, I can only hope the b*****d isn't using them for anything. But it shouldn't be a problem because the passport and ID have my old address on it (my parent's house, in CA). And her ID has an old address on it too. So I don't think there's gonna be a problem. At least I hope not.

Yeah, she called me up like, 2 minutes after getting off the phone with me, and she was breathing quite hard. I was like "What's wrong!?" she first said nothing, but then I got her to confess and I'm like "Hang up on my and call the cops, now!" she hesitated for a second, because she wasn't sure she could describe the man. Though she finally did.
At least you're safe, babe. If that man would have hurt you, I would have ran up to Indiana, tracked the man down, and kill the poor b*****d. The stuff you lost CAN be replaced, luckily. Your life cannot be replaced, so be thankful that the man didn't get scared and hurt you.
I'm sorry this happened though, babe. It shouldn't have happened, and don't bash yourself to hard. He honestly looked in pain, and you didn't know he was tricking you. You were simply being kind. Sometimes being kind just gets us in trouble, nothing we can do about it..

I'm sorry all your stuff is gone. However, you can get it all back.
I'm happy you're safe though. Could have been a lot worse.

I'm not sure if there's any in Indiana... I do know someone that lives close to me but I wouldn't make him come all the way up here and waste his time on some nobody.

Glad to see you got those cards returned, but a shame you don't have the others. The only issue, even though it's got an old address, is that there is more information on a passport then just your address, and they can use that information do to horrid things to your name.

Yeah, you should probably tell somebody about that too. Did you tell the cops everything that was missing? Cos they should've told you what to do next about your passport and stuff. Kinda weird you carry that in your purse. razz

It never occured to me to freakin that that s**t out. Do you think it's too late to tell them? Cuz I don't wanna look like a dumbass dialin 911 and bein like yeah, remember that robbing I reported 5 days ago? By the way, there was a passport in there too, oops! lol

I wouldn't call 911, but calling the non-emergency number would be a wise thing to do.
