Questionable Seeker

PostPosted: Sun Sep 13, 2009 1:13 pm

This used to be a personal fight between me and Chris, but since that's been resolved, I've made it into my own personal mini arena. If you have something against me, or just want to fight me for shits n' giggles, then here I am!

You exit the portal to see a grand sight.
Appearance of the arena: Resembles the Parthenon more than a traditional Colosseum style arena. Inside there is a row of columns that leads to my throne at the far end. The building is located in the middle of a small clear Martian lake, with a stone bridge leading to it from the portal. The bit of land surrounding the building is all gardens, and there are four statues on each side of the building. One is of my robot form, another is a well chiseled nude of myself with nothing more than an eye patch and Perseverance in my left hand, another is one of my human self in armor and the last one is of my Drag Queen form.

Rules: (Follow the TOS of course, blah blah blah.)
1. We will each post three times. I'll go first and then you and so on. After the last fight, my next post will be for the next person waiting to get their a** kicked. If no one is here and there is nobody waiting, feel free to post if I have a battle started.

2. Feel free to destroy the arena as much as you want! It all somehow magically regenerates after our match is over and before the next fighter comes in.

3. Have fun. I may update this if the current system doesn't seem to be working out for people.

If you want to fight me, send me a PM titled "Imperator! I challenge you!" Give me a quick reason why you want to fight me and I'll add you to the waiting list. I'll give you a heads up when you're next in line for your a** kicking.

If you're going to be gone for awhile for any reason, just send me a PM and I'll postpone our match and the fighter on deck will fight me instead.

The Waiting List

On Deck:

In Line:

"I have yet to beat you in battle. I think it's time to even the score a bit. Yes, this is personal!" -Readies Perseverance.-

((Yikes...this may take a few battles before I manage to win. XD))

I turned to leave the battledome, but the doors slammed shut in front of me, preventing my exit. What in the world...

"Swordsman Chris, I challenge you!"

Curtains fell down along the battledome walls. The lights dimmed. Spotlight beat down on us from above. The arena became a stage. My next fight was to be the opening act of the Theater of War.

"What the..."

Clutching the edge of my jacket, I rotated to meet my challenger, trying to make some sense of this bizarre turn of events. The voice had come from a masculine figure, clad head to toe in shiny metal armor; I could hardly discern if he was man or machine. He approached me from his end of the arena, hammer in hand, and his roman helmet bobbed as he made his way towards me. There was an air of familiarity about him, most certainly.

"I have yet to beat you in battle," the challenger said, his voice ringing with a slight metallic quality. "I think it's time to even the score a bit. Yes, this is personal!" Somewhere, up in the balcony, a battle overture started playing. While I understood that this was the Theater of War, did they really need to be so heavy-handed with the theatrics?

In a flash, my Nano-C phase blade was in my hand, powered up and ready to go. The blue sword had a lethal glow. "You're fighting me with a hammer?" Somehow, I was certain that I would be quicker than him in close-range combat.

For a moment, I could swear the metal face smiled at me.
"Not quite, he said as pulled out an Astral Commando Pistol.

"Oh...!"

I didn't get to finish my verbal reaction; I was cut off by the deafening sound of gunfire. BANG BANG BANG. I dived out of the way. BANG BANG. Sulked around two projectiles. BANG BANG BANG. One of the shots clipped my jacket as I closed the distance between the two of us.

BANG.

The last shot caught me square in the shoulder. I stumbled back a few steps, spluttering from the pain. The machine-man grinned and moved towards me, hefting his hammer up. He knew I couldn't avoid it with my current injury... this was going to be unpleasant.

The head of the hammer collided into me with a sickly thud. It was a horizontal strike, and he hit me across the the back with tremendous force. It was like he was a major league batter and I was the baseball. Not exactly the position I wanted to be in. I hit the ground and skidded painfully along the sand; ground ball.

My foe came and walked over, certain he would finish me. I lay on the floor, in a world of pain. In my mind, a dark image flashed back, and I was reminded of familiar shadows. The faces laughed at me, and I reached out to them, but they shrank back beyond my grasp and dispersed into nothingess. In that instant, I did the unthinkable; I summoned the energy to stand back up. The overture was reaching its climax.

A flicker of annoyance showed in my enemy's body language. I'd gotten back up, huh? Well, he'd knock me back down, that was for sure. Unfortunately for him, he wouldn't get that opportunity; I stumbled forward, then broke out towards him with unreal speed. The next moment, my phase blade was in his chestpiece. He sank to the ground, paralyzed, unable to even pull a trigger.

"I know a thing or two about revenge myself," I whispered to him as I turned off my weapon. "If you really hunger for it, you have to chase it day and night... you can't rest until you have it." I shook my head. "I can't fall here. I still have dues to collect... dues to collect in blood."

Clipping my Nano-C back on my belt, I turned and left. The orchestral music faded into the distance. Curtains closed. Lights dimmed. The world fades to black.User Image

"I will keep coming for you, Chris."

I suffered defeat again at the hands of the vampire, and it seemed that he was the favored fighter by the looks of the poll. However, I would continue to fight until the score was evened.

I prayed to the Empress and I raised my pistol to his back as he left the arena. I squeezed the trigger, and felt the gun snap up as the shot was fired. The bullet found its mark in Chris' back. The bullet exited through the vampire's front and dug into the arena wall. He clutched his wound and fell to his knees.

Seeing my chance, I quickly got to my feet and strode up to him, Perseverance at the ready. However, his words echoed in my head. "I can't fall here. I still have dues to collect... dues to collect in blood."
It soon occurred to me that he was going through the very same thing I was. I lowered Perseverance and the vampire gave me a puzzled look.

"My revenge is complete, vampire. I have no further quarrel with you." I told him. We both went on our way, neither of us looking back. Perhaps we'll meet again in the future.

If this was a play, surely it was some sort of tragedy. Here I was, trapped in this nightmarish theater. The music played, but it was a haunting ballad. I pulled my coat more tightly around myself, but I couldn't keep the chills away. A spotlight fell on me, but even heavier than the light was the feeling that someone was watching me...

Then, out of the dark, the gleaming red eyes. It was him again! I drew my phase blade, but the eyes faded back into blackness. The whole arena, unlit except for the solitary spotlight beating down on me, was the a playground for my foe. No matter where I moved, the persecuting light chased me; I was caught out in the open, with nowhere to hide.

BANG.

I heard a gunshot, and my Nano-C was blasted out of my hand. It disappeared into the darkness and was lost. I winced, waving my hand in the air to cool the sharp pain. I was trapped in the light, unable to escape or defend myself. It seemed that my old transgressions had finally started to catch up to me; it was time to pay my debts, but I wasn't ready.

"No," I breathed. In the darkness, the red eyes glowered ominously. The armored titan came into view, gleaming in his royal splendor.

"I can't... not before I finish what I... no!"

He raised the hammer.

"NO!"

There was a crack, and then the light was gone; all became black.User Image

"Quite the regal arena, my liege." I bowed humbly to the Imperator, under the impression that my presence there was welcome.

Seconds after, at the eerie silence between the two of us... I learned that I wasn't. Beheading him, obviously, may have been a bit of a mistake. It may have been my imagination, but I could swear his metal face was etched with rage and his red eyes glowed with some sort of electric anger in them. I had faced bots before, at the crowning glory in my military career, but those ones were different. It's not a body that makes an opponent dangerous, it's their mind.

Yes, I was certainly in trouble with this one.

As he made to fire his gun I ducked behind a wall. The shot collided with a pillar to my right, which began falling left right over me. Rolling to the side, I drew my rapier from it's holding place at my side and prayed silently to any god that would listen. I received no immediate response, only the feeling that somewhere a Cloud was laughing at me. I knew I was going to receive no help from any sort of divine power today.

I stepped out into the arena again, ready to surrender. This was around the time that I found Perseverance connecting with my skull. I fell to the floor of the arena, my head bleeding heavily and my vision fading. Unconsciousness eluded me for some strange reason, though, and for a few more seconds I was kept awake. I stayed aware just long enough to see a blurred Emperor remove my cravate, my rapier and my indication of rank. He took away any vestige of honor that I had on my person.

"Are you going to bleat for mercy now?"

Those were the last words I heard before everything went dark.

Falling asleep with a concussion... hmm. That's bad for you, isn't it?

"Why thank you, Lieutenant!"

After the Lieutenant was feeling better, she came back to fight me again. I had a throne at the far end f the arena, where I sat with a rather bored expression on my face. The faun didn't bother with formalities this time. She came at me with her blade. However, I jumped off my throne and her blade sunk into the throne's back. She was forced to abandon her blade as I swung Perseverance at her. She dodged just in time and my throne was smashed into many wooden splinters.

Kaokie fled, and I pursued, firing my sidearm. She ran behind some columns and the shots ricocheted off the marble. "You can't hide from me, faun! This is my domain! Hur hur hur!" I laughed as my scanners picked up her heat signature from behind a nude statue of my human self. I swung Perseverance and shattered the statue and the pieces rained down upon Kaokie. She crawled out from under the rubble, only to find herself at my feet. She looked up with a pleading look on her face. "Kiss my mantle and beg for mercy, and I might spare you." I told her. Kaokie got to her knees and took my regal cape into her hands kissed it and pleaded for her life. I decided it was sufficient enough and I let her go.

I was most displeased at the recent developments. I needed to regain my honor somehow. All of my career had been a glorious run and now I had hit this losing streak. My abilities as a swordswoman had been surpassed... perhaps my tactical strategies would get me out of this slump.

"Another round, Emperor? Perhaps on the battlefield?"

As the leader of a great Empire, he agreed readily. His armies were impressive, indeed, I would be the first to admit. My forty or something man platoon was remarkably less so. Fortunately for us, he didn't have his entire force on hand at the time. As well, this particular sample of his men weren't foot soldiers. I began formulating my strategy around this fact.

My troops soon received orders to utilize cover and move around constantly to trick the enemy, as well as utilize as much melee combat as was possible. It was a risky move, seeing as the other side was heavily armed... but the arena's protection would keep them from dying. After all the plans and preparations were made, I announced the beginning of the battle. My troops rushed at the opposing sides as they readied their weaponry.

In the end, the other side's inexperience with battle on the ground was all that saved us, but it saved us nonetheless and I thanked... well... someone for that.

I bowed, humbly as was possible with my elation, and thanked the Emperor for a good match.

"One more round each. This will decide who is victorious!"

The faun was clever this time. I was admiring my garden, when I noticed a barrel sitting on the steps of the Parthenon that I never noticed before. "That's odd. I don't remember that being there." I thought. I walked up to it and looked over it and around it. I shrugged my shoulders and opened the top of it to see what was inside. A sword went though my faceplate and my optics cut out, meaning that I was defeated.

"Very well, sir."

It was another victory achieved only by trickery. I rolled my barrel off of the top of his arena and landed on his head. He broke my fall, so I wasn't personally hurt all that much - maybe a few splinters - but the speed I had reached going down was enough to flatten his mechanical face. What was that... the third time I'd hurt his little bot head?
