when said in Hmong sounds like the word for insect. "Kabnim"...

And when you say it in Japanese, it sounds like the word for crab. "カニ" or "Kani" (though it would actually be カーニー...)

Does your name have any weird meanings in other languages? Or, if you took a foreign language class, what was your name in there? My Chinese name was "辛可妮" or "Xin Ke Ni".

In Japanese class, ジヤン (Jiyan)...for which, the kanji is 張(Zhang, in Mandarin), which means long. Though my classmates took the liberty of calling me キョン(Kyon). Hahaha.

In Chinese class though, 王輝傑, "Wang Hui Jie" though I prefer to go by "Jie"

KANI-SAAAAN. xD

Let's see...in Spanish class we had to pick Spanish names out of a hat, and I got Juan (even though I should've been Jaime). In German, I was Funk (long story) and in Japanese class I was Kikkoman (she let us choose names and everyone chose anime names, and I wasn't really into anime).

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I was Analise in French, because there was another 'Ana', and I couldn't use my middle name because there was a 'Lisa' and an 'Elise'.

Even though I'm Hispanic, I don't speak Spanish.
I tried to learn in school (nearly failed at it! XD)
and my name was "Tifani", my name said in Spanish.

Hahaha wow, that's kinda funny xd

We didn't ever use fake names in Japanese. I would have loved that ._. But we just used katakana. I'm pretty sure half my high school class would have been anime/game characters and the other half Jrockers. sweatdrop

@Bry: Analise is a pretty name though :O

I'd pour kikkoman over my rice any day ;3 LULZ

yeah, we only used katakana for japanese class too, much to my dismay.

@Bry: A name fit for a princess =D well, it sounds like a princess' name to me. xD

I... I don't really know what my name is in other languages.

I do know it means Peacekeeper in Hebrew, and I got it because of my ancestor. I'm related to Pocahontas on my Father's side (my great grandmother) and when I was born I was very red skinned and had very dark black hair, so they named me Rebecca (that was her name in England after she married John Rolfe).

I have no idea how it's spelled or said in other languages, so maybe you guys can help?

Whoa, that's cool, because I don't know anything about the actual origins of my name aside from that it came from my grandmother.

I could probably spell it in Japanese and Korean if you wanted, but I don't think it would have any meaning, haha.

XD any particular reason for that that isn't Haruhi Suzumiya-related?

my name was chosen on purpose to be spelled the same in English and French because my dad's French ninja same with my brother...though his is a lot more common than mine sweatdrop so no changes to my name with that.

in Japanese class, we were asked to use our preferred name and then katakana-ize it however we wanted. so, you could use a different character if you wanted and were able (i.e. with "ji" you can use "shi" or "chi", so if you wanted you could use either one).

so what is my name?

Janelle. written as "Janeru" in Japanese with no particular meaning. i prefer it written like "ヂャネル" rather than "ジャネル" because i find "chi" easier to write XD a website i once found said that the kanji/translation would be User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. or "shinkei", "God's Grace". i prefer going by JC (my initials) online because i think it suits me more...so, i worked out that those initials could be "Jie-shi" or "ヂエシー". i've had fun coming up with variations and other names (pen names, etc.) from that ^^

In Japanese it would be レベッカー (Rebekka), and in Korean it's 랩백카 (I can't romanize Korean, but it sounds like the Englsih. I think? I'm not good at compound vowels if anyone wants to say "NO IT'S THE OTHER AE" lol). I don't think either have a meaning though, because the name isn't really close to the patterns of those languages...
