Random Tip #1
If you ever recieve a random trade request from someone you don't know, it's simple don't approve the trade. Better to pm or comment the person and find out who they are before you accept anything. If the person answers and seems legit, then use your best judgement in the matter of the trade.

Random Tip #2
Now I know everyone here loves art, especially art done of their own avi, and no one has ever said they have been art scammed but who says it hasn't happened. So just as a piece of personal advice, never pay your artist till you get the finished product. Of course this requires honesty on your part, which I assume everyone who is here is honest enough to follow these rules.

Random Tip #3
Create a mule! A mule is another account that you basically don't do much with. It tends to be dressed very plainly and not be seen in public much. Most people make mules to generate money, but for some people it's a way to save their rare items. If you think your going to be hacked, or just want to keep your stuff safe, a mule might be the way to go for you!

Random Tip #4
Don't advertise how much gold you have. Yes I know people are always asking for donations and friends may want to know how much you have, but you really shouldn't be loud about it. The reason I say this is it puts a target on your back. Did you know you could display your gold count on your profile? I didn't till I recently was fooling with my settings, luckily I had it set so no one could see. Personally I say this setting be kept to a no show. If the hackers think you have no gold or less then you do, it may be better for you!

Random Tip #5
If while in town, or rally someone approaches you and claims that you have been banned due to people reporting your account it is most likely a scam as well as a hacker. They might try to tell you that they are part of Gaia staff and that Gaia staff now wishes to interact more with Gaians. Don't believe it. The Staff are not going out of their way to hang out around town with us nor are they going to appear in town or rally and suddenly say you are going to be banned unless you give them your password. Be careful, they claim to have access to your account and even say they have PM's saying things like you've hacked accounts or even scammed people. But just remember: They're not staff, so don't give them any information.
*Some staff can be seen in places on Gaia, but they usually have their names in red. I have seen it myself, but as Ran said, they have never asked me for personal infor before.* Lady Artemis Kisarugi

Random Tip #6
When your getting off for the day and ready to shut down, totally undress your avi. I used to have a friend who did this, not sure it really works but at least it might help some. They apparently had, had problems with hackers before and deisided that this would deter anyone from seeing how much their avi was worth. In a way it makes sence because if your someone who likes to use a lot of EI's or rare items, it can kinda keep it a secret from someone who is profile hopping looking for a target.
