Being pregnant sucked a**. The hyena was constantly having her gut grow bigger and bigger and it was all Asa's fault! Okay so it took two and Asa hadn't taken advantage of her or seduced her into it. This just happened.

Damn it.

The hyena dragged her self across the African planes. Even as a pregnant female she wasn't afraid of others. Right now all she cared about was a cool drink of water. She was HOT out here. These brats stirring in side her made her feel so hot.

Soon they'd be out though. She was close to due after all. Close wasn't soon enough.

Finally she had gotten to the watering hole and she was the only one there it seemed. The hyena , carefully, lowered her head making sure that no one was watching her for their chance to take advantage. The place seemed pretty harmless though.

Ylva lapped up the water.

Just behind a boulder there was a small den. That den belonged to the so-called owner of this waterhole. Adeto pulled himself out of it and stretched out, yawning. He shook himself before leaping up onto the boulder to survay his watering hole.

To Ylva he probably seemed to appear out of no where. The wild dog was blue with a strange violet mane that led to white diamond shape markings along his back. He stood, poised for a moment as he watched her.

With light steps he made his way through where the water was shallowest and gave a small rough bark of greeting. "Welcome..." He said bowing his head to her. "I see you've come for my lake's water." He was trying to sound ominous and his deep voice helped him do it.

He noted that she was heavy with pups and tipped his head once again. Good, new life. His water would be good for her. "I am the God of this lake. Is there anything I can do for you?"

The cool water felt so good going down, just what she needed on a hot day. Maybe she should have stayed in the den and not gone off on her own.

Before she could really think farther into that, her thoughts were disrupted by some sort of greeting bark. Ylva lifted her head up slightly, what the? Where had that wild dog come from. The hyena watched him and listedn for a moment. Water god? Ylva bit her tongue so that she wouldn't snort out with laughter.

Ylva didn't really believe in gods, but she wasn't about to burst this strangers bubble. After all, she was heavy with cubs and probably wandered into his territory. While she could defend her self just fine, she didn't want to fight with more then just her life at stake.

"Water god?" There was a bit of an amused tone to her inquiring.

His chest puffed out as he stared at her. "Yes, a water god. I keep all the water of the world pure by placing a paw in it." He seemed very sure of this fact and even more sure as he stepped just into the water and pushed nose into.

He picks up a small blue stone. A rather beautiful one at that and places it gently at her feet. "The lake wishes me to give you this. It will protect you..." His eyes trailed to her belly, "and your little ones as you pass. If you are hungry I can provide you with fish. If you desire sleep I can give you a soft place to rest. Please, do not hesitate to ask."

Ylva smiled and accepted the stone , even though this wild dog seemed crazy, he seemed nice as well. This was his territory after all and he was offering her food and gifts and a place to stay.

"Thanks," Her tone was flat but she was grateful. The hyena eyed the rock, it was really pretty. A smile snuck on her maw as she pawed at it.

"You don't.. have to go through all that trouble," The hyena tilted her head at the wild dog, he seemed to be really kind. Almost to a fault. Did Ylva really trust him? This was all so confusing.

He puffed up proudly. Even if the thanks was flat it was enough for him. It made him feel good. Especially since she seemed to enjoy what the lake had to offer her.

"Non-sense! You are welcome here and I am here to aid those who wish it." His feet were still in the shallows off the water. He turned his head and snatched at the water before bringing up a wriggling fish. He dropped it on the ground, presenting it to her. "The lake is very giving to those who care for it."

Ylva couldn't hide the amazement on her face. A fishing wild dog? Now Ylva honestly was not familiar with wild dogs, but growing up around humans and there dogs, most of them just barked at the fish or splashed about trying to get one but forgetting what they were doing and playing instead.

To say the least Ylva was most impressed.

"You did that so effortlessly," The hyena felt her jaw dangle open. Course, she still was pretty sure this wild dog wasn't a god. Fishing was a talent but not a divine power.

But the hyena gawked anyhow.

The dog tilted his head after depositing the fish at her feet. He saw it starting to wriggle back toward the water and put a paw on its tail to hold it in place. It stopped and he bent his head, biting into it and effectively killing it.

"I have lived around water my entire life. It is all I have ever known. The lake offers them to me and I eat them. It helps ensure I can stay here to protect it without going to far. Now please, eat. Fish is good for those who have cubs."

Ylva opened her maw but closed it. He had just caught her a fish, she couldn't refuse it after hed gone through the trouble on her behalf. And she was hungry. The hyena gave the wild dog a glance before bending over and gobbling down the fish.

Wow, she had been hungry. The fish had literally vanished with in seconds.

"That was .. That was amazing," She gave a nod of approval to the wild dog, "So you are a water god eh? I may just have to believe that. " She smiled at him with a content smile. The fish had been a good snack. She had a feeling this was no god before her but he was a kind heart. No need to be a rude guest.

He watched her with strong and inteligant eyes. If he wasn't a water god then it was obvious he certainly believed it. To him it was reality. He took her compliment with a small smile on his maw.

"It does not matter if you do believe or not. So long as you do not harm the water. Do you require more food? Or perhaps a place to rest?" He persisted only wishing to aid her while she was in his territory.

Ylva smiled at him, she couldn't ask more of him now. "How about some company. " The hyena tilted her head at him. "I'd like that very much. "

With that the pregnant hyena took a seat across from the water god wild dog. "You know I usually.. don't like company.. but you're alright. . . I mean... "

What was she trying to say?

The wild dog smiled something gentle on his stoic face. He sat down in front of her still touching the water, almost as if he was afraid to leave it. He gave her a grateful dip of the head. "I'm happy to hear that... I...."

He hesitated slightly. "I... don't see many come this way. So I really only have myself and the water. Its... sometimes it gets lonely. I've recently met a young female wild dog however." He smiles slightly to himself. He rather liked that female.

Ylva smiled, so the wild dog had some one to take care of. He would be a great father and a great companion to any female judging from how he was treating her. Even if he believed he was a god of water, the wild dog had plenty more characteristics to make up for it. Perhaps it was a good thing for him to believe that. Perhaps he was a god of water in another form for her benefit.

Ylva wasn't in the mood to question. She was just thankful for the hospitality.

"I think you'd make a good companion," Ylva nodded.

He glanced up at her with his brilliant red eyes. Without another inquiry he worked on catching her a second fish and flung it in her direction before leaping up onto his rock with grace to over look his territory.

"You think so?" He asked loosing the God like quality to his voice for just a moment to really look at her. Like he was just another wild dog. He blinked and it was gone and he was back to his belief. "I will protect her. If she asks."

Ylva wasn't so shy about munching down the fish flung at her. Seemed the pups inside of her were greedy little bastards. Just something she'd have to correct when they were born.

"I'm sure," Her mouth was half full of fish still. Ylva didn't even realize it until some of it dropped out of her mouth. The hyena gulped and couldn't help but chuckle some.

"Forgive my horrible manners," She shook her head, "These kids are so greedy inside of me."
