This is something i have always wondered, because a lot of things in our life are out of our control. Like our pre-determined health genetics, where we were born, when we were born, being given a life in general...Of course theists are thankful to their God(s)/Goddesses...

If you say you thank only yourself, dont bother posting.
It will only make you look like a moron.

Atheists, you were given this life when SO much can go wrong (dying at birth, having a genetic birth defect)
Who are you thankful to?

I'm not thankful to anyone unless they have directly given me something to be thankful for. I thank my grandmother for giving me money for my education. I thank my father for putting a roof over my head for free. I thank my mother for consoling me in my time of need. The list goes on.

The fact that I have life is not something I need be thankful for. I have not lived my life to it's fullest extent, thus I don't know whether to be thankful for it or not. I am not thankful that I have not died, because I consistently wish I would die, I just don't have the balls to kill myself anymore. I am not thankful that I do not have a genetic defect, because in many cases, this is simply an accident of birth that no one has control over, thus no one is to blame or thank.

That's what I want to make a point about. When circumstance are out of anyone's control, there is no one to blame and no one to thank.

Basically, the two main beliefs in society today are:
I do.
He did.

Christians fall under the whole "He did" things. Where God sent us His son as the ultimate sacrifice to save us all.

Anyone who isn't Christian, or Catholic, falls under the whole, "I do" thing....
